PSNOT 3.0 - Let's Talk About University of Kentucky, Baby!

my library added teenage mutant ninja turtles, overwatch, doom and mirror's edge catalyst.  this brings them up to 79 ps4 games in the catalog.  portland has zero.  :(

Thought DMA worked well with UV, few DMA ive redeemed show up on my own vudu?
Yeah, I've got them all on my Disney Movies Anywhere account, but Disney won't let me share them. The jerks.
DMA and UV are completely separate things that each keep track of certain sets of digital movies you own so you can watch them through multiple services, DMA for Disney movies and UV for pretty much all other studios. If your vudu account is linked to a DMA account and a UV account, your vudu library will have everything you bought/claimed through vudu, along with anything else in your DMA account, and also anything else in your UV account.

The only thing I'm complaining about is that when you do the sharing, it's only your UV account not your DMA account. Disney could've just used UV to track their movies too, but they wanted to have more control over it or whatever.

and I realize still no one cares, but here's my last take on street fighter 5:

After shoving tons and tons of hours in to street fighter 5 I have to say that I really like it.  maybe it's because I got in at the beginning or maybe it's because I'm putting more effort in to it but it feels a lot more competitive in a good way.  matches are often close.  it's really easy to see where you screwed up.  most people don't have more than a couple tricks in their bags so it's generally pretty easy to put together a strategy to deal with antics.

They basically succeeded in making it more accessible.  Whether or not it'll have the long legs that street fighter 4 has remains to be seen.

Things that have been publicized:

- server issues: the servers definitely sucked in the first week.  their netcode might be a little wack, but playing in the wee hours of the morning I usually end up fighting folks (who claim to be) in asia pretty often and maybe 1 out of every 4 matches the lag is unbearable.  like inputs don't register unbearable.  conversely in a game like guilty gear xrd I would seek out the japan lobbies and very rarely had lag issues.  since the last patch everything has been more reliable and faster to the point where I rarely have time to surf cag between matches.

- release content: yeah, release content sucked.  this mostly matters for people that like playing fighting games but don't like fighting other people 100% of the time.  or at least want a break from it sometimes which totally makes sense.  the lack of an arcade mode is depressing if only because a lot of us grew up playing these in arcades and going through the ladder to some silly boss was fun.  and seeing the doofy short low budget ending was fun.  I dunno if they'll add one later, but I hope they do just as part of tradition.  survival is awful.  it comes in 4 difficulties with only the last two (hard and hell) being a bit of a pain.  hard is 50 straight fights where the cpu difficulty ramps every X number of fights.  the cpu usually starts reading inputs and doing stupid damaging combos around 30.  hell difficulty has an easier cpu ramp up but is 100 (!) fights long.  so any attempts at clearing it take just about an hour or more.  I always lose in the mid-80s.

- new content: the recently released challenge and tutorials are a good add, but even they seem half-assed.   the challenges seem somewhat focused on being practically useful (short 3 move combos that take some timing) but aren't actually all that challenging.  I definitely prefer the 'here's this impractical and absurd combo that looks really cool that you could never discover on your own' kind of stuff.

- in-game monies: so the claim from the beginning is that you could purchase all of the DLC with in-game fight money that you earn from doing story mode content, fighting other people, etc.  this is ridiculously false in reality.  while it's true you could run through survival mode over and over and over again (as that's the only way to earn any actual amount of FM) it'd take dozen of hours to get enough FM for one character.  As of today after playing through all of the story mode, all of survival on easy with every character and normal/hard survival plus all challenges for one character AND 200+ online matches I have ~298k fight money.  That's almost enough for 3 of the 6 DLC characters for the year.  and that doesn't count added arenas/costumes/colors/etc which are anywhere from 2k-50k apparently.  I have definitely played way more than nearly any other fighting game I've ever played and there's just no way I could hit 600k just to get the DLC characters without wanting to hang myself.

incidentally, there's a trophy for getting 1m fight money.

- actually playing it: it's super fun.  the characters are good and varied in every possible way.  there's something for everybody.  I've been playing mostly rashid since he plays like an obnoxious-bounce-around-the-screen-and-do-tricky-stuff like an mvc character.  with the smaller roster it's a lot easier to learn match-ups but I'd say online so far it's like 70% Ken, 25% Ryu and 5% everybody else.  so some characters (like Birdie) I still don't really have any idea what they can do.  I did watch a replay of some high level dhalsim inexplicably fucking some shit up and it really made me want to try him out next.

tl;dr it's fun and extremely well done at the core but still don't bother if you don't like fighting people online

So from that FFXV anime a ton of websites keep using this scene as a screen cap:

Are there really people who hold their burgers like that? It's been messing with me since I first saw it yesterday. Did the animators just have no concept of how people hold food? I thought they did a bunch of food related research? Is this some kind of standard for people with giant hands?

He's holding his dick with his other hand, though.

Despite the pic Kilik posted, NO , no one holds their burgers like that. Forgetting that your hand would have grease and condiments on it, I also just tried to mimic that and in order to eat a burger like that you would have to turn your head and probably your hand into an uncomfortable position.

And yeah that other pic is just a burnt patty, bread and nothing else so he isnt going to eat that prop anyway!

Plus with one hand there's no comfortable way to adjust your grip as you eat the burger. You'd have to use your mouth to hold it in place while you move your hand, put the burger down and pick it back up again, or use gravity and loosening/tightening your grip in various ways. So nobody eats like that.

Did Gator die?
I was off the last two days. That means a lot of crap to get through at work today. I wasn't around much when off because there is a trophy competition on another site I am trying to win, plus we went and bought a new car yesterday so I was not even home until well after lunch. I did not really have anything to add to the macro vs meme topic.

Regularly scheduled bull shitting will hopefully resume tomorrow.

Nice. A wrecking company with the motto "We could wreck the world" accidentally demolishes the wrong house. That's a fun surprise to come home to.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2016/03/25/theres-nothing-left-crew-demolishes-wrong-home-blames-google-maps/
Its a terrible mistake and the CEO being a dick is...well a dick move, however look at the map of their street. The house they were supposed to demo has the SAME STREET NUMBER and its around the corner, on what looks like THE SAME STREET. Its a fucking loop! It IS the same street! I can see how they made the mistake.

I would sue the city. Their city planner did a terrible job. You shouldnt have the same street numbers on "two" streets that are actually one since they are clearly connected! #nice

We're getting one of these arcade bars here as well. The one I went to in Columbus was pretty nice. It was super packed though, probably because it was a Friday night, but it was crazy. Really hard to try a lot of the games. I ended up playing a lot of Joust and qbert since apparently everyone thinks they're boring or something. The one I went to as long as you were drinking you could play the games for free. Other than pinball, you had to pay for those since they cost a lot more for upkeep. Gonna be the same way for when the bar in Indy opens.

Honestly I blame the people who lived there. They should have known better.

Of course the houses look absolutely nothing alike, with one being a duplex and the other not and each house having very different colors. It's kind of amazing that people can get so used to tearing down houses that they don't think to double-check they've got the right one first. I double-check on all kinds of minor shit. I can't imagine just demolishing a house without being absolutely sure about it.

That's pretty cool they were all free. But having all machines a quarter max is a huge plus. There was a similar arcade bar type thing in downtown, but that barely lasted a year because they tried to have a nightclub atmosphere complete with bottle service and bros and super expensive game prices and it failed miserably. Plus this new place is smack dab in the middle of hipster central, so it'll do very well.

A nightclub atmosphere sounds awful for that sort of place. Why the hell wouldn't you just embrace the nostalgia fueled hipster crowd and happily take their beer money?

IGN says that FF15 demo is "insanely beautiful".  I beg to differ.  No link cause it doesnt want to work.  whatever.  #hoops

They also say that Oculus Rift is some revolutionary tech but I cant find much in the review that tells me it truly is.  Sounds like 3d to me all over again.   Big hubub and then nothing a year from now.

I got an email with a code for 200 free platinum points in the new Nintendo rewards program since I was a former Club Nintendo dude.

Email says it's non-transferable, but I don't really believe that. Anyone want em? PM me if ya do.

Edit: gone to Bums!

FYI to people who were about to forget about their sony rewards points expiring today:  I got an email that says they're now expiring in a year.

I should probably still use them before I forget again though.

Free update for The Division on 4/12: http://www.destructoid.com/the-division-s-free-april-12-update-introduces-incursions-352285.phtml

[The game's first Incursion] Falcon Lost has two difficulties: Hard mode, which is recommended for players whose gear score is equivalent to level 31; and challenge mode, which is even tougher," says Ubisoft. "Also, there aren't any checkpoints in Falcon Lost; if your team goes down, you'll have to restart from the beginning. Additionally, you can replay Falcon Lost and other upcoming Incursions as many times as you want and still be rewarded with new loot."
This is just the first Incursion, with more planned, including one set in Columbus Circle that's arriving as part of a free future update. No need to grab that season pass yet.

April 12's update will also add four rare gear sets, which can unlock new talents; daily quests; periodic supply drops in the Dark Zone containing loot that does not need to be extracted (this'll be entertaining); loot trading; and the ability to camera-follow teammates post-death. Ubisoft has the rundown on these and other details in a blog post.

Not going to kill myself to try to win the competition now.  I just found out that the people I appeared really close to didnt have all their points counted because a script error stopped counting points once you hit 1000 trophies.  Since they also allowed Sound Shape Auto pops to count a few people had gone past that number.  No chance to catch up now with only a few hours left.

It was a good time, but I was at a huge disadvantage even with my access to quick easy VNs.  There just werent enough of them going around this month.  Back to my regular stupid amount of trophies per month instead of the insane number from this month.

PS TV's are down to $20 ($30 for the bundle) in store at Walmart.

If you're in need of a cheap Dualshock 3 and 8 GB card it might be worth looking.
