PSNOT 3.0 - Let's Talk About University of Kentucky, Baby!

Which are grindy? The 100 kills ones, the wins one, or is there something else in the list I didn't notice? I haven't played or really looked at the game yet so I'm curious how many kills you get in a match and how long matches last.
Matches we played last night lasted between 3ish and 12ish minutes. And people seemed to be around 5-15 kills a game.

So yes.

So maybe 2 hours per class. That's not terrible, I suppose.
Well ya gotta be pretty good to get the 15 per. I averaged closer to the 5. I know Pancakes was doing much better.

And not all ship classes are good at killing, so some will take waaaaaaay longer than others.

I'd say at least 30 hours to get 100 kills in each class.

I was basing the 2 hours/class on 5 kills per 12-minute match. Even at that rate it's a good 18 hours and almost a hundred matches. Hopefully the game is a bit on the fun and addictive side otherwise that'd be a huge chore.

How well does the match creation process work? Quick and easy?

If your PC thinks you're playing a pirated copy of Quantum Break on it, this is what the protagonist looks like:

Well played, Remedy.

Physics is awesome.

Quantum mechanics is some freaky shit.

If you want something thats a good read and easy to understand, a brief history of time is pretty good.

Yeah Dead Star was kind of fun.  Its pretty, but I bet it gets boring pretty fast.  At least for me, someone who doesnt normally care to play competitive MP anyway.

I guess Android Assault Cactus will have to come to Plus before PSNP will make a trophy card for it, based on how quickly they made one for Dead Star.

This is pretty cool.  Just north of Tampa is sky dive city and they are holding the national championships of "Canopy Piloting" this week.  These guys are "flying" inches from the ground at speeds of 80-100 mph!  I saw some practice jumps on the news this morning and guys were sliding into the ground to stop.  Sliding like a baseball player into second almost.  btw, you baseball guys see the ending to the Rays game last night.  They won on interference at second using that new rule.

This reminded me that I need to buy a groupon for sky diving so my dad and I can go do the regular sky dive thing.  Its amazing how many sky dive places are around central florida.

Wren has something bad to say about a twin stick shooter with good graphics? I don't even understand what's happening to the world today.
Competitive MP isnt my thing. I hope they add co op missions or something. that would be cool. The gameplay and graphics are solid. Online even worked flawlessly last night!

Lots of new FFXV info taken from the latest issue of GameInformer: http://www.novacrystallis.com/2016/04/final-fantasy-xv-detailed-game-informer/

Some highlights:

  • There are dialogue choices in the game that leave to different outcomes. For example Noctis was able to ask his friends for advice rather than asking for a discount or loan from Cidney. The reward for these options seem to revolve around status bonuses similar to eating or resting.
  • Combat has improved since the demo – controls are more responsive, and weapons can be swapped on the fly using the d-pad. GI saw tabs for swords, daggers, lances, firearms, shields, royal arms and elemental spells. There was also a category called machines though their purpose is unknown.
  • Magic spells are collected like a resource and can be recharged at various places on the map (think FFVIII‘s Draw system).
  • The Regalia (the car) has a trunk that acts as party storage. You may need to pay money to gas up from time to time but the cost isn’t crazy. The car radio plays remixes of classic FF themes such as “Final Fantasy.”
  • On your way to a destination, Prompto may ask to stop and take a photo. His pictures can be seen during camp and can be shared on social media. Should you continue to take pictures with Prompto his photography skills will improve.
  • All four of the main characters have special talents – Noctis can fish, Ignis can cook and Gladio has survival instincts – and all of these can be “leveled up” by continued play.
  • When you call a summon they won’t always do the same thing. They are entities that exist in the world itself. So depending on the situation they will do different things. For example, Titan sometimes will run up and hit an enemy, sometimes he will throw boulders at the enemy and it’s possible he will even give up and leave the battle. They will also act differently in a dungeon than they will in the overworld.
  • The black dog seen in trailers is a faithful servant. Its name is Umbra.
  • Noctis and friends encounter Niflheim’s Ardyn fairly early on while en route to Altissia.
  • There are four quest types: for fun (fishing/chocobo racing), main story, monster hunts and regional quests. Currently there are over 200 quests in the game but the team are working to add more.
  • Later on you can synthesize magic to create more powerful versions like Blizzara.
  • Weapons can also be improved with materials collected in the world and won from battles. The main way to improve yourself, however, is through ability points which accumulate as you level up.
  • You have the choice on how you upgrade Noctis and his companions like strengthening auto-dodge or teaching them new commands. It’s an effort to shape the player’s play style.
  • Luna is the presence that supports Noctis in order for him to fulfill his destiny. She’s also the type of heroine you want to meet but can’t quite reach.
  • Tabata has no intention to create sequels or anything out of this. He wants people to purchase the game to be able to enjoy it for a long period of time. That doesn’t necessarily just mean additional content but other things to create an interesting experience.

So I played a bunch of dead star this morning. It's fun enough but I'd be a little surprised if it had legs. grindy trophies are grindy.
Deciding to take the PS+ deal was probably a good decision by the developers as I can't imagine it would have had much success as a $20 multiplayer only title. Hardly anyone played the steam early access at $15.

Played through the first act of Quantum Break yesterday. The shooting/time powers are great fun and the story is good so far. As I expected all along, though, this whole inserting episodes of a TV show is dumb. Those portions are actually higher quality than you'd expect.. but I'm trying to play a game. I like watching TV and I like playing games, but I have no interest in jumping back and forth from the two. I guess it's not totally different from playing an MGS game with 20+ minute cut-scenes. Interesting idea that I'm willing to stick with, but no way is that going to take off as a popular thing in gaming.

Also played some Enter the Gungeon. It's awesome. Seems like there is a lot of fun stuff to discover. It doesn't look like you can save the game in the middle of a run, though (unless I'm missing something). It can take a chunk of time progressing through each floor so this is disappointing (my gaming schedule is pretty erratic). I made it to the third level after a few attempts. Anyone know how many there are supposed to be total?

At least we can put the PS4 to sleep and resume as long as nobody else uses the system in the mean time. Monday night I only managed to complete the first floor a couple times. Didn't make it far in the 2nd. It was late, so that's my excuse.

Yeah the episode thing in between acts seems pretty dumb. How did the episode stream for you, it was pretty buffery when I was watching the game being played on Twitch.

I don't think I've made it much farther than level 2 either Chewy. Might have gotten to the second boss once or twice, but I don't think I've hit level 3 at all lol. Usually do something stupid, liking forgetting which button is for dodge roll, and die on one of the very basic enemies.

Is PS4 3.5 available yet? Any of you PS4-during-the-weekday people try out the PC/Mac remote play?
It's available. I've seen one person comment that it works terribly and another say it worked well for him. I'm kinda tempted to bring a controller to work to test it out.

Edit: 'moon'd.

Ran perfectly for me. I imagine streaming while broadcasting on Twitch would have given me issues, though.

Most of the dead star trophies are going to be really hard to get for average players. Though im sure someone will figure out a way to boost them.

I wouldn't expect it to work well actually remotely. But at home it could be useful for times the TV is in use for TV or other game systems.

I played through ACT 1 last night and just finished ACT 2. Still not 100% comfortable with the controls. I just end up shooting my way out of it.

I agree the 20+ min cut scene suck. I hated them in MGS 4 (first console game I played in like 10 years when I first got back into video games). The actually game play is pretty fun when I remember how to use the power correctly. Environment and story seems cool but I tuned out during both long ass movies at several points. Does make for a good stopping point though. Takes me out of game play mode. Might try to sneak in ACT 3 this afternoon but I have lots of shit to do so who knows. I had no idea what this game was about as I didn't really keep up on XBoner exclusives.

Probably wont bother replaying it and selecting some of the other options.

Very mild Act 2 spoiler / question.

In Act two at one point it tells you to stack the bullets on the Chronon containers to make more rips in time. Doesn't fucking tell you how though. If you figure out WTF they are talking about I would interested in knowing.

I don't know that it'll be that bad - I got an 8 or 9 kill streak in my second game with the very first ship unmodified and I am terrible at video games. the only other toughie I think might be getting all of the different commendations in one game but so far I usually miss just one or two.
