Its strange that we sing the national anthem before sporting events too.

Well here I go diving back into Demons Souls after a good 2 years. Definitely starting over as I have no idea what the hell I was doing anymore. I think I only beat like 2 bosses.

You did the first two bosses of the first world so you aren't very far, let me know if you get stuck or have other questions. I would recommend doing the first level of each of the 5 worlds first as they all have useful armor and weapons.

Thanks, will do. Just trying to look at the trophy guide is giving me a headache.

Yes, it is quite obtuse.

The thing that can trip you up is the friend's ring (make sure you answer YES to the Monumental at the start) for you you need pure white character tendency and that is also heavily tied to the convoluted World Tendency system. You get that by killing human invaders (there aren't many of those I imagine this many years after release) or by killing a certain enemy type which appears in each of the 5 worlds in pure black world tendency.

There are 8 shades of world tendency, 2 black, 4 neutral, and 2 white. To shift from Pure black (-4) to Pure white (+3) You need 7 shades worth of tendency change. The blacker the world, the stronger the enemies are, the more souls you get when you kill enemies, and the better the item drop rate. The whiter the world, the weaker the enemies are, the less souls you get, and the poorer the item drop rate.

Each of the 5 worlds has a unique NPC who appear in the same location in pure black and in pure white. At pure white they are in human form and may talk with you (one doesn't like to talk). At pure black they are in black phantom form and will seek to kill you.

Dying in body form shifts the world -1 shade toward black.

Killing the human form of the named NPC shifts WT -3 shades toward black.

Killing a boss in your world shifts it +1 shade toward white,

killing the black phantom form of the NPC shifts it +3 toward white

killing a certain enemy that only appears in pure black shifts it +3 toward white.

To further complicate things every time you log into the online server it shifts all your worlds 1 WT shade toward the server average (which is usually 1 shade below pure white). So if you were to obtain Pure White World Tendency in one world, the next time you boot up the game online it would drop you down to just White World Tendency. Once you have killed all the bosses in a world it is impossible to get that world back to pure white world tendency.

Killing the black phantom form of the NPC will give you +20% character tendency, so that when you kill all 5 it will shift CT from neutral (what it is at the start) to pure white character tendency. Killing (most) of the human form of the NPCs or any other NPCs will give you -40% character tendency (so killing just a few NPCs will shift you from pure white to black). Since killing NPCs has such a negative impact on your character tendency, you do not want to do that until you get pure white CT and get the friend's ring from the Monumental.

Yeah but the olympics is a competition between nations.
right so I just figured some sports team liked that idea one day and it caught on. I think it's nice to be patriotic. Not sure why we hate on that now. I just thought it was weird at Busch gardens since I had never experienced that before.

I've had poutine twice within four days. This time at Target field and it was braised beef in a Summit beer cheese sauce instead of cheese curds and brown gravy. Damn fucking good either way.

Twins also just got hosed at the plate.

EDIT:
after watching the replay on my phone they in fact did not get hosed. Carry on.

Not hating, just saying it's strange that we do it.

LOL From Software, started the Dark Souls 2 DLC. Fight my way through unlocking shortcuts in between deaths, get to a new area and see the glow of what looks like a bonfire. Round the corner and its 2 unkillable duak-katana wielding ghost things which agro and keep following me until they kill me.

Yes, the World Tendency mechanic was an interesting idea in Demon's Souls, all they had to do decrease the awfulness of managing it was to remove 1 of the 8 shades of world tendency so that it was possible to shift from pure black to pure white without a boss needing to be alive. Thankfully they dropped the character tendency and world tendency mechanics in the Dark Souls'

How much does a new shower cost? My shower is disgusting and I just scrubbed the shit out of it with bleach and it's still disgusting.
I guess I am one of the usuals. And funny enough I just had my old 80s gold colored shower redone!

Taking out the old gold shower and glass and cleaning and regrouting the entire shower and replacing the glass surround cost about $1200 total. Give or take a hundo since i had other things done. Not a full remodel bath but replaced all the old gold fixtures. The shower is pretty average size. Not big or tiny..

Let me guess--Dragon Sanctum from Crown of the Sunken King? Yeah, those guys suck, but there are some destructible statues near them emitting dark fog that allow you to kill them once destroyed, and they stay permanently broken even if you rest at a bonfire.

I think you made my headache worse Guardian!
Demon's Souls really isn't difficult to plat in a single playthrough if you follow the PSNP trophy guide to the letter. The most important stuff to remember: Always play offline (choose No when asked to sign in) and upload your save data to the cloud frequently.

Basically, just don't attack NPCs unless they attack you first. Except if you encounter an NPC
In Spiked armor called Yurt
, he's a dick that once freed will do very bad things if you don't kill him either when you first encounter him or as soon as he returns to the Nexus once you kill one boss. Then once you get to near the end of the playthrough, you can worry about shifting each of your worlds to Pure Black WT to kill the 5 named black phantoms in order to get enough character tendency to get the friend's ring. It takes several playthroughs to platinum if you don't want to cheat so you can do the pure white tendency events in NG+ if need be.

Which guide did you go by? The 10-hour one Stotch linked?

Did you do any of it yourself or does that include labor?

haha no. I didn't do shit. That's labor and all. I got the cheaper shower that has the borders and stuff. Not the fancy all glass shower door stuff. Just because I wasn't redoing the whole thing anyway so not worth it. Just updating to the 2000s in case I want to sell.

No idea how much it cost, since it was long ago and there was a lot of shit involved when we got ours done. Since you are a neat freak see if you can find someone to do a custom cultured marble shower. Then there is only grout in the corners of the walls and the corners where the walls meet the base.

Clorox cleanup with no scrubbing needed and it looks great. If the grout ever gets bad you can just pay someone to redo it an it looks brand new.

Our shower gets this nasty brown rusty stuff, and black moldy looking stuff. Takes hour of scrubbing and way too much elbow grease. Thankfully it's just an annual thing. (or maybe once every few years)

Speaking of weird-o Japanese  anime games.

I've spent about 2 hours or so now playing Ar Nosurge Plus. (what kind of name is that). I think there's been three battles, and endless dating dialogue. I'm really not sure I want to go much further with this one.

I forgot to mention, I guess since the player base has dropped in Helldivers since the end of the last war, the bug campaign is caught in a loop that they can't clear a sector fast enough before the RNG starts another defend event. Another Super Earth defend event started that currently has 38 hours to go. Though we are currently slightly behind the pace of the enemy so there is a chance the event will fail (causing the war to fail).

If you missed out on the last Super Earth defense (like Vig) for the defend trophy, here's another chance.

As I said, the one on PSNP. The 10-hour guide is on PST.org.
You didn't say that's what you used, just that the PSNP guide is straightforward. :shame: The 10-hour one is pretty sparse on details and only works due to duping so I could see you recommending the PSNP guide over the pst.org one even with the time requirement difference.

Why did you use the PSNP version? Were you not aware of the 10-hour guide or was there another reason?

Cheese curds are so good!

I'm only on the 4th volume of Fables but it's really good. It's amazing how shitty Once Upon a Time is compared to it, too. Such a shame the Fables TV show pitch got turned down for the crap Disney version.

BTW Kilik the first story arc is good and there's a short story at the end of volume 1 that gives the background of Bigby and how he's largely responsible for the creation of Fabletown. It also starts the story of his and Snow's relationship. Even if for some reason you didn't want to read the first arc you'd still want to read that story.

Even after platting the game, the 10-hour guide seems pretty confusing to me and not as straightforward (though time-consuming) as the PSNP guide. The latter guide clearly described how to navigate all of the missable/tricky trophies to get everything in a single playthrough, so that's the one I used.

Yeah, that was my same thought on reading it. I haven't played much of the game but certainly enough to know that the directions in the 10-hour version are insufficient. The way it's written would require doing additional research for many steps to determine where to go.

You like those games enough that I can't see you skimping out on the experience even if the directions were great, though, and duping stuff everywhere to save 40 hours doesn't seem like something you'd do for a title in a series you enjoy.

Yeah but Fables doesn't have the characters from Frozen!

It has Bigby the Badass, though. He's only had one real big bad wolf scene in the first four volumes but despite that his mystique is definitely gaining heft with the various references to his background that hasn't yet been shown.

Fables isn't shy about killing characters off, either, which I was a bit surprised to see. Always a good thing when media deals with a subject of conflict, resolves it, and moves on permanently.
