The thing about FFX is that it's still better than the more recent Square-Enix titles, aside from the Dragon Quest remakes on DS. The rest of the Final Fantasy series has ranged from "meh" to "this is shit" ever since FFX, and even their other games like The Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery suck in comparison. FFX is basically the turning point in which Square realized they could no longer make a good games and decided to peddle out bullshit weeb nonsense with bad combat mechanics and arcade junk like Space Invaders Extreme.

Case in point: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. Those cherub-looking sonsabitches creep me out. What are they, Lilliputians or something? Gulliver's Travels people? Screw that.

I liked the faux-MMO combat of FFXII and programming all the people with all the stuff they would do in encounters, but other than that, I don't remember anything at all about that game.

I didn't like that at all. Why not let me choose what they do turn-by-turn, like all previous RPG games? Tom loves Last Remnant, but that suggestion combat system ruined the whole game for me. I'd rather tell them exactly what I want them to do than only have certain choices and then "let's play it by ear." I can solve these conflicts in riskier and non-conventional ways, but I have to almost die to get a good goddamn suggestion for my troops. Also, the whole troop has the same HP? So I attack one enemy three times, and the other two in that group die of fright?

Removing options from characters that were there in prior games is not an innovation at all. Like, I could remove half the keys on someone's keyboard and call it a 30keyless or whatever shit Gedemer was posting, but that doesn't mean it'd be better than a full keyboard.

All the options were there, you just didn't have to spam Attack, then attack this guy, then confirm 30 times every fight. Also, you could play without that.

Are you sure we played the same game?

I liked Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers, but ultimately it was just a weirdo Wii spinoff. A spinoff of a spinoff.

They were upset by HD computer butts.

I'm the worst This War of Mine player ever.  Start, get rolling, something bad happens about 8-10 days in, say "Eff this", restart... oh, look, I get to collect lumber and junk boxes to patch my walls again... yaaaayyyy...

I made it to day 30 on This War of Mine during my first ever playthrough. Game is pretty brutal. I think I went through maybe 6-7 people before I ended up losing everyone altogether. I love the game, but sometimes it's super grindy.

Yeah, I get to around Day 10 and the easy stuff is picked over and I'm getting bored with grabbing 2x4s so I take chances and it goes south.  Then I'm like "I'm not losing my best [skillset] on day nine!" and restart.  Which totally goes against the premise of the game but it can take its premise and cram it full of walnuts.

I should download a mod to increase stack sizes.  That alone would probably help a lot.  Less "realistic" but probably more entertaining.  It's not as though I play the game and deeply feel the horrors of war upon the civilians anyway; more like play the game and try to juggle the mechanics of it about the same as playing Princess Maker 2 or Recettear but with nominally more snipers.

Dead Island Franchise Pack is $5.99 on Bundle Stars. Original GOTY, Riptide Complete and Escape Dead Island are $3.99 each. For the +1!

dinosaurs make everything easier. come back to the ark

I think I'm on day 8 of This War of Mine right now. It definitely feels more like resource management instead of atrocities of war.

I think the bios are where they try to push the atrocity thing. The gameplay on it's own doesn't seem to do that. Stealing from or killing people in the game just doesn't elicit the response they want, I believe.

Stupid gleam giveaway (or steam I guess, it's been glitched out and told me a key was for the wrong game before) lying to me.

Got Grave Prosperity: Redux 1 when that wasn't a listed possibility.
