Guys I'm missing something.  I know that it usually shows an instore price when you "check Inventory".  On my screen the in store prices for all of the guides is normal (ex. 24.99).  How are you able to determine that they pennied?  Thanks in advance.

 
This thread is so stressful.  I get so excited when I see guides that I would love to own for the artwork and such (like Triforce Heroes), but then get depressed when I remember there's approximately a 3% chance that I'll be able to find and purchase the guide for a penny.  SO MANY EMOTIONS ugh

I just picked up my tri force heroes ce. GameStop guy told me I got lucky because the price had just dropped. He said he wasn't sure if he should sell it to me or not but he said he would because I put the request in before the price drop. he also told me he didn't really care because he thinks they just get thrown out. I hope everyone else had some good luck.

I went to gamestop yesterday and the lady still had both Zelda And tomb raider so I asked if she had any stuff she was gonna throw away she was like sure and gave me the CE of Zelda and a tomb raider

The last week of the month on Wednesday seems to be the gamestop penny day. I'm hoping for a xenoblade chronicles x guide this time. IT may be a few more months before the twilight princess hd guide pennies but that is one i really want

 
Any website to show prices of game guides like videogamepricechart? Got some guides, but not sure if its worth the time and effort to sell or throw away.

 
Not guides but I noticed Best Buy pennied out the Assassination Classroom & Naruto mangas they had.  They also had 12 Anime Mystery mini figures that disappeared so its possible those pennied out as well.

Yeah, but some of those are comparatively bad. Eg. Witcher 3 HC. TIV is $22, lowest new price is $119.

I meant more for the cheaper ones, instead of tossing. I remember when everyone traded their Star Ocean guides for like $75+ though.

Do they not let you buy this normally? I bought some guides today Halo 5 CE and and assassins creed syndicate CE it rang up not for sale employee wouldnt sell it to me. I just asked to speak to the manager told her they were marked a $0.01 in the back on the shelf. She just told me to take them no charge.

 
It's funny because if you catch a guide on the floor and you know your stuff about it they usually they give it to you. The problem was it was ringing up as part of a bundle. I has to buy a dvd or blu ray to get the Manga no dice ! :)

They are 1 cent at every GS, the YMMV part is if they will actually allow you to buy them or not if they haven't already been pulled from the shelves.
 
I really feel like GS should put me on their payroll, I basically pull the guides for them.  When I go to check out (with other items), they say, "oh, I can't sell this, we have to throw it away."  I try to sweet talk 'em into throwing it away in my direction, but then they say "I mean.....sent back to the warehouse." 

This thread is just full of depression lol.  Good luck to everyone else!

 
How does one find these on the website to do store pick up? Or do you just go into store and search for them? I can't seem to find them on the website anywhere.

 
I snagged 1 of each SW:BF and Halo 5. They didn't have either of theories two and I didn't see this thread update until this afternoon.

Placed a successful hold on Battlefront guide this morning...of course I got denied at the store. If GS doesn't want me to buy it, don't send me a fuck ing pickup email telling me I can come get it and make me drive over after work for no reason.

You should have at least pushed for them to give you a coupon or something for your time, gas, and effort wasted.

I'm 100% sure this is a lie. Shit like this is why I hate GS. I worked a local comic con for the board game room demoing SJG and at the end of the night when every was packing up and stuff I saw the GS employees toting posters they were handing out to the back. I asked if I can get one since I was at the booth 90% of the day didn't get out. They said yeah their tossing them in the trash so take as many as I want. Seriously! Why toss them? So I took them all and gave them away to some teachers I know to give to their students in class.

Thanks Darby. I was able to place a hold and pick up SW:BF, COD3, and Halo 5. They even threw in a Triforce that was left over from before! Great day at GS for once!
 
There's a tattooed punk gamer chick at mine that doesn't care. She's actually hot as hell in a "I'll pull out my switchblade and cut your dick off if you complement me" sort of way.


I left like 6 Halo 5 guides. I'm too close to having the bookcase of guides like I used to...

If anyone got a spare copy of  SW Battlefront CE. I'd love to pay you for it. Shipped via media mail should be pretty cheap. >.>

As for my luck at the store they said it's penny out so they have to toss it. I said come on man that's crazy and a waste yada yada. He said well they at least recycle it. So that is verified and I did get some cool posters out of it. ^^
