Went to pick up the AC Syndicate CE and Halo 5 CE that I got the ready for pickup emails for and they just gave them to me.

They had an extra Halo 5 on the floor and gave that to me too!

Thanks Darby!

Went to pick up the AC Syndicate CE that I got a ready for pickup email. Girl got all confused. Asked me if I "called." Then says, "we don't have that." So I show her the pickup email. She walks away and goes into the back. Comes back with one.

Scans. Pay. Leave.

Thanks Darby!

Thanks Darby.

I didn't do a hold, but before they pulled the listing I saw all the guides were available at my store. Store is 30 mins away, but it opens at 11 so i can just grab lunch and it wont be a total loss.

I've never tried for a penny guide before, but I know the guy working is cool. He let me buy FFX/X-2 new and trade it in used immediately so I'm hoping for the best.
Showed up and apparently that store doesn't keep guides out. They are all in the back. Employee told me that they were discontinued that day and he didn't have any.

I never looked for guides there before, but now I know.

I hate the stores that don't keep them on the floor because if you ask they will just say they don't have any or they were discontinued. You can't get away with them being left on the floor and them having to sell them. There are 3 Gamestops in my town and I never go to 1 for that reason.

Thanks Darby! Was able to pick us ass Creed hard and just cause . my local store had one of each out and looked like the rest got snatched by the employee working yesterday.

I was able to snag one just cause 3 guide out of four stores, thanks Darby!

On a side note: if anyone got extras of the others (especially the Halo 5 guide) and is wanting to sell/trade, hit me up. Thanks!

Crap I'm days behind on posts. I've been waiting forever for ACS CE guide to penny. I even saved the link to the direct page to keep checking and forgot the past week. Now I just get a 404 error.

All you have to do is check every Wednesday morning before 10AM.

I ended up hitting the GS I did the in-store hold on for the JC 3 guide and when I went to pick it up, they just gave it to me.   It was stickered as $0.01 and I expected not to get it, so I turned around and used my trade-in I did at the same time to reserve and pay for Song Of The Sea in full.

Looks like Best Buy pennied out Black Ops 3 CE, Halo 5 CE, Tales of Zestria, AC Syndicate standard, LoZ triforce heroes. However their system is back to marking them as unavailable for sale. My store had a few of each, but no go.

If anyone grabbed an extra Tales of Zestiria CE guide that they'd be willing to part for a fellow CAG for Price (a little extra as well) + shipping, it would be much appreciated!

Yea. The CoD guide was even marked a .01 on the floor but the cashier wouldnt sell it. As for the Triforce guide it is standard version only because the CEs rung up full price.

Tried at three gamestops, struck out. Never have a missed a drop before, and this one is the one I was looking forward to. Just hoping for a trade at this point.

Last time something I was interested in pennied out I went to four places and came up empty handed... might have tried again this time if I'd seen this while I was out, because I'd totally take home AC: Syndicate CE if I came across one!

(I wish they'd just drop the price of the guide instead of pennying out... I'd buy the CE even if it was $5, I just don't want to spend $30 on it.)

Ah well, my loss.

I say this all the time to the managers I know there. In the past they have had sales where guides have gone as low as $10. I will happily buy a guide for around that price. What I will not do is pay $37 for a CE guide when I often pay less than that for the game brand new.

So many times this!

I would gladly pay $10 for a CE guide if it was older and in less demand. It seems like the publishers and stores would like to make something off of it instead of nothing at all.

I have such a backlog of games to play that I typically don't buy a game until it hits sub $25 anyway so why am I going to buy a guide that is higher than my price point.

The last time I did this was with the Ni No Kuni hardcover. It is still sealed and I have yet to play the game.

I owned and used the Ni No Kuni guide... for about a week. I like to play games late, in the dark. I constantly had to pull my phone out to light up the book to read the pages. That lasted a few nights until I said screw it and just used a web guide.

Man... I was seeing if some of the games I haven't played had guides and went to the guide trade thread... That poor thread is completely dead.
Did yoyu really expect it to be flourishing? Most people get denied, ever since bby put a stop to it, it put a nail and a latch on the coffin. I can't remember the last time I tried to get one, in all honesty I would rather purge most of the ones I have.

The problem with the trading guide thread is multiple. First it has become hard to aquire the guides ( TY to you know who ). Second some traders believe that they have gold literal gold. Not strategy guides for trades. Makes it hard to trade. Lastly people would prefer you just give them the guides for free , as in could you cover the s + h costs as well. Ive received a few penny offers. I generally don't trade for money . I prefer trading for other guides. Just because you've had a guide longer doesn't justify asking for 3 HC guides ftom me for your limp SC guide. I'm lucky to get a few extra copies. I'll offer them to the kids or relatives kids. Co - workers kids too. If not I simply give copies to my local library. Which has a vast selection of games to take out. They have a nice section of guides too.

I really only get the CEs from GS these days. I don't want to end up with a 6 foot shelf like I used to have. I don't seem to have any problem at all getting guides from my GS stores. I do as well now as I ever did at BB.

It's insane that people don't even want to cover S7H. That's the new generation's attitude, though - "I shouldn't have to pay for anything. Can't you just give it to me and cover all the costs?"

Just to put it out there, I'm more than willing to pay S&H if anyone has guides available that I want.  My GS's (and BB's, of course) dried up a looong time ago.  I got one at TRU last year which was a total fluke.  I was a guide trading machine here back in the salad days.  Those were good times.

Is your list updated? I think I have a handful of what you want.

Unfortunately true. So many people don't understand costs. Especially that even if something was free, time costs money, just as much as gas and tolls.

I'm not sure if this is a regional thing that varies or if it's nationwide. Today my local GS was getting rid of all of their PSP inventory to be destroyed. I don't know if they're sending them off or just throwing them in the dumpster. A really nice Gamestop manager gave me a handful of the best games.

I just thought I should post this info here. Any of you guys who are actually lucky enough to buy guides at GS should be able to get some PSP games if this isn't just a regional thing my store is doing.

Edit: Yup, looks like all of the preowned PSP games are removed from gamestop.com. When did this happen? I would go create a new thread if this wasn't so ymmv.
I'm guessing if you are a dumpster diver and a PSP collector, you will have a fun time.  :whistle2:$

Skylanders superchargers guide at best buy for .01

Left one at my BB. Didn't ring up in the computer, the checkout people just let me walk out with it for free.

Just had the GS call me that sent me a "ready to pickup" email for Triforce and said "due to an inventory error" they don't actually have it.

Bullshit.
