I will not be updating every Daily/Weekly/etc. sale. The tools to help individuals become a smarter shopper will be provided below.

What? You're running on a 1366 board and built it in 2011? Why you never upgrade to Sandy Bridge? Any i5 Skylake now will be a massive jump in performance for you.

 
Link your Steam account to GOG.  Get GOG versions of some steam games.

I'm still running an (overclocked) i7-860 on an 1156 board. Why? Because it's consistently worked and not yet been a barrier to running games. A Skylake processor/board would be a big jump but it also requires a new processor/board/memory so why spend the money before I have to? Price of the new stuff is only going to go down in the meantime.

I bet it's like the Ubisoft Steam friend connect thing and didn't count and people having 18 bajillion friends, or in this case games, and chokes on the requests that most of us send.

I still can't get the damned thing to work no matter how many times I try. I'm guessing they hadn't taken into account someone might have 4,500+ games to parse through. :p

 
It finally worked for me after like 800 tries. It added 14 games. It would have been 17 but I apparently already owned 3 of them on GOG *hangs head in shame*

 
Buy from Humble, get Humble, Steam, or GOG.

 Or was this the game that made choose between DRM and Steam-free copy on Humble?

I feel like this GOG feature is only going to help me "share" games with my "friends" and "family"

I think this was mentioned earlier in all the GPU chat but AMD's 480 supposedly delivers performance close to the GTX 980 but for $200.  Now that's fairly tempting and a great dollar-performance ratio.

Looks as though Nvidia is going to lock up the high end market and AMD the lower end market for the time being.

First, NVIDIA 980 is not Low End.. :D/

Second, i don't know what to say to AMD marketing department but listen to this "HEY YA'ALL, our BRAND NEW, NEXT GEN card is only as fast as the upper Mid-Range LAST-GEN card from my competitor" :whistle2:

Yep, AMD has been and still is shit. Can't believe Nvidia isn't price gouging harder with the 10 series since AMD still isn't even trying to compete.

No, but the GTX 980 will be the new low end when AMD has an equivalent card for $200

The 480 isn't AMD's high end card; that's coming later this year. They're releasing their lower spec card first to take advantage of the "affordable" marketplace who isn't going to upgrade to a $400-$600 video card. It's not "Our brand new next-gen card is only as powerful as the upper card from last gen" but rather "Hey, you can have a card that was $400-$500 high end a month ago for two hundred bucks".

Okay, again, let's approach this logically and not all fanboy, I want an overpriced 1070 because one day I will buy an overpriced VR set to play Butts VR.

The GTX desktop series starts at the 50s for a reason. Not everyone is trying to blow their budget on a super high end or even mid high end card. When the 10 series comes out, I really doubt the 9 series prices will stay the same. They will likely drop. So there will still be a market for both the 9 series and even lower end cards in the 9 series. So the 480 has a big potential market.

Their drivers suck. They are releasing products that have been out for a long time. (All Nvidia has to do is lower the 980 to $200 and bam). AMD has been in the pits for years now. I would love to jump ship because I hate Nvidias gouging the past few years, but there is absolutely no reason to.

Also the 1070 is an absolutely great price per performance. People want progression not regression. 1440 and 4K. To get those results at a good FPS you need a good GPU. Nvidia is doing it, AMD is not.
