Welcome to the Japanese niche games deals and discussion thread!  Feel free to talk about local and import Japanese games here.  Our goal is to maintain a thread dedicated to active deals on niche games including RPGs, Visual Novels (VN), Shoot'em ups (Shmups), Musou, etc.  Also maintained are pre-orders for standard, limited and collector's edition games with key release dates provided.

I've wikified the thread to make it more friendly and open to others that can actively update with important information. You can find the wiki post directly below this one.

NOTE:  Please, leave the censorship discussion away from this thread.  It's common for japanese games to have questionable content outside of the country.  We want to keep discussions to the game itself and not about cultural/societal tolerance.

A message from Thorbahn:

Our CAG Japanese Niche Games Thread also has a community on PS4, where you can interact and game with other members of the thread.

Our moderators are: Draekon, Las_Hole, and Waffleswanton

You can basically friend any of our members, or any moderator, and you will be able to request to join the community under "Communities friends are in" tab, and a mod will approve your request.

You can also leave your PSN ID in the thread, saying you want to join, and we can invite you directly as well.

As always, have fun and enjoy your stay!

Touhou Genso Rondo (including the LE!) and Shantae for all three platforms are listed on BestBuy.com but not yet available to order for shipping. I hope Best Buy will start to carry NISA's LE's!

In this point in time I am just going to buy my watch from Aksys @AX can't trust either retailer to pull through on this even if my friend is a manager at GS who let me get it a day early.

You should just print out your order page, and then bring it to their booth at AX, and be like, "BITCH, YOU OWE ME A WATCH!"

And then depending on their response, be ready to flip some tables.

I'm enjoying the new Star Ocean, already have about two hours recorded. Not game of the year material, but a well rounded rpg I'll play through multiple times.

Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines is one of the free PS+ games for July. Neat!

I'm at work and literally screamed out "that's bad ass".

In other news, Final Fantasy VII is getting it's own Monopoly version.

Then i scrolled down a bit more and saw this. Now everyone thinks im a crazy person for screaming like a banshee. As if the anime toys and wall scrolls weren't enough.

Only managed to play Adventure of Mana for about 20 minutes last night. Feels a lot like Secret of Mana more than any of the other Seiken Densetsu games (including SD1 that it's supposed to be a remake of).

I really don't like Monopoly as much with a decent amount of diving done into many other board games and designer games, but I will likely procure a copy sometime, esp if it reaches $25 or so. I have my Pokemon Monopoly still from when I was younger, and I hope this one does something cool like that one. I liked the powers for rolling doubles.

Also hopefully tonight i'll be able to try the new Mana game and the new Star Ocean. I had to buy the Star Ocean, since i've been waiting for it for a while. I hope it just isn't terrible at least...anything better than Trillion is a big win in my book. Still can't believe I used like 40 hours on that game....

So I'm planning to buy Caladrius Blaze for ps4. Is play asia the only place to buy it?

What's their cheapest shipping price to usa? $5?

I just got this email from Amazon:

Hello,

We're contacting you about your order for Zero Time Dilemma: Limited Watch Bonus Edition Vita. We recently learned of an unexpected delay in getting the Limited Edition Bonus watch included in your order from our supplier. We’ll be shipping the game without the bonus watch and will ship the bonus watch as soon as it becomes available. We're very sorry about this.

You'll still receive the item and you can track the status of or make any changes to your order under Your Orders on Amazon.com.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/css/your-orders-access

To help make up for the inconvenience, we've added a $10 promotional certificate to your account. This amount will automatically apply the next time you buy an eligible item shipped and sold by Amazon.com.

We value your business and hope to see you again soon.

Sincerely,

Customer Service
Amazon.com
That's a relief.

there was a pokemon monopoly? "I say surprised. when it shouldn't be that surprising considering there's monopoly everything practically"

Is it based on the games or the awful cartoon?

i dont think it matters unless ur a diehard fan, i personally do have two specials one the older nintendo one with different characters, and got stuck with the red/blue pokemon one when the person already had one

Nice. I was interested in checking that out, but it never hit a price I felt like picking it up at.
Oreshika is very worth playing. I think it highly drags near the end.....where it feels grindy, but it's decent. Also a huge hint to everyone....when taking on bosses, you can enter dungeons a day before to make getting to bosses easier. Do not do the crazy run towards the boss location in the dungeon the day of....too hard for later dungeons. Didn't realize this till late in the game and I smacked my head wondering why I made finding the boss so much harder.

I started it sometime ago, but didn't put time into it and felt sorta lost. I'll have to go back to it sometime. The visuals were outstanding and I liked the battle system.

That April 2017 date sucks so bad right now.

Will consider preordering. I do want to see the board design and pieces first. Most theme monopoly boards are just a simple slap-on of the themes with every little effort. Here's hoping this version has some good detail and real customization to it.

Squarehard was right.....my Ps4 GK LE came in a bubble mailer :bomb:
LOL. This is funny every time I read it. Going with Amazon is cheaper, but 9 out of 10 times, it is going to arrive damaged. How is anyone surprised by this happening anymore?

My GK LE should be out in my mail box in a few minutes, if not already, and it's coming from NISA, and I have zero concerns about it's condition. I did pay a premium, but it was worth piece of mind.

I would be very surprised if anything I ordered from Amazon arrived in bad condition. I have only had to return two items to Amazon due to damage during delivery.
OMG, I would say probably 50% of the items I get from Amazon arrive damaged. More often than not, it's not a big deal, as it's allergy medicine, dental floss, or some other item where condition isn't an issue, but in regards to LE, it happens more often than not.

Your very lucky to not get damages, but that GIF^, says it all!

My Best Buy ZTD came in a box. It's just the game, but still perfect. The last game I got from Amazon was Shinovi Versus, and it was beat to hell and back.

Regional distribution centers will all handle stuff differently. So Amazon being good or not is literally YMMV.

Hmm NISA stuff usually shows up perfectly, but we've had more than enough posts about how badong their customer service is. I'm currently waiting till Independence Day weekend, because I'm kinda sure they won't even notice me hit them with a Paypal chargeback on a long weekend.

Yeah, I haven't had any NISA issues since they change distribution centers awhile ago, but when I did need to contact them, they eventually handle every problem to a great outcome.

Just open my GK LE a few minutes ago, and of course it's perfect. And I believe I got free shipping on this order, so even better, as I didn't have to pay for getting my goods undamaged this time.

Best Buy always ships to me in a box and Amazon always uses bubble mailers.

Maybe it's just luck, but I've had waaaay better luck with Best Buy. A crease in the box doesn't really bother me though, so in the end it's whatever.
