Just came across this, but Swagbucks has Steam GCs now. So if your looking for another way to get games by watching videos/doing surveys/doing offers, there you go.

I put in a good amount of hours with it a while back with a few friends. It is fun if you dont mind hunting out missions and doing your own thing and making your own path. It can be easy to be distracted but it is fun. We did get the expansion but planets were pretty much a let down when it first came out, they've added more things and their end-season addons sound good as well

Honestly you dont even need a hotas. I played just fine with a 360 controller for a long while before I got the hotas and for certain things the 360 blows a hotas out of the water, like interdicting, a controller cant be matched for that
Negative.

A FS and Hotas are 100x better than a game pad. Even the cheapo $40 flight sticks are better...and you can download pre configured settings instead of doing your own.

Trying to catch up on this thread. What's got Foxhack so excited? Steam community site is taking a huge dump so link don't work.

Is it Dotemu going out of business? 50% off furry suits at Walmart?

Everywhere I go now I just imagine that the people around me are the same people that are buying my Steam cards for pennies and I've pretty much stopped leaving the house.

Im just relaying my personal experience. I do have a hotas and have it fully configured to my tastes. However some things in elite are just flat out done better on a controller, theres many forum threads on it asking them to try to fix it. Part of it is because of the immensely reduced throw distance on a controllers joystick vs. a hotas. Its why a controller will win 90% of the time in an interdiction fight, when doing interdictions i always switch to my controller.

Now Im not saying all instances, but for some they are. And by no means do you really need to own a hotas to actually enjoy elite, if Im just doing a quick pick up sometimes Ill just stick with the controller so I dont have to move the kbm out of the way for the hotas. Sure for the majority of the game a hotas is more immersive and offers more control, but I still dont think you absolutely need one

I always see HOTAS and think OOOOOOH, I WANT ONE! Then I realize I don't play flying games.

Now racing wheels are another thing. I'd buy one just for ETS2 and ATS. Speaking of, any driving wheels people recommend? Prime day is tomorrow and I have some Amazon credit from my b-day so maybe that'll be what I use it on.

How did "broing" go last night? I tried to make it but the two hours of sleep I got... Well, I sat down at my PC and sort of just zoned out... :(

Sucks because I'm all for trying Vermintide with a group of friends.

Now I have Ain't Nothin Gonna Break My Stride in my head except with weird funky lyrics like You Sailed Away to Brazil...You say you had to buy your Nuveem games.... etc etc

I was going to post the original but I felt the weird crappy pixel weeaboo dancing gif girl was more appropriate for this place.

I always see HOT ASS and think OOOOOOH, I WANT ONE! Then I realize I'm married.

It went pretty well. We were slaughtered at first, but caught a groove by the end. And by caught a groove we mean Parallacks and DukeEdward learned how to carry Bah and I most efficiently. We tried the Last Mode and it is brutal.

Also, deal stuff:

Newegg has some refurb Astro A50s for $100 with $5 promo gift card. From what I heard, people love the amps but the headphones themselves are just so so. Wireless though.

Just had a game revoked from my account:  The Raven digital Deluxe.  Won it on SG over 5 months ago.  Kind of pissed about this.  Over 5 months ago!   fuck

Definitely report the person you won it from. Someone who does chargebacks on SteamGifts purchases is a piece of shit and should be banned from the site.

Nordic has been revoking a lot of games lately from SG, they seem to be from different people. I assume it's due to chargebacks, but I don't know why it took them so long to revoke.

If I may seize this segue to discussing SteamGifts, that site has two major issues that bother me.

1. You can change the status of a gift from received to not received indefinitely. In my list of won gifts, I can click "not received" for something won 3 years ago and the status changes. I realize there are scenarios like DrR0Ck's that would necessitate marking a gift as not received months down the road, but the process for reporting such an issue should be handled differently (submitting a ticket is probably necessary anyway). The received/not received options should be grayed out after a certain amount of time to avoid mistakenly changing the status of old giveaways. For example, add a "report issue" button for old giveaways that takes you to a new page to submit a ticket.

2. SteamGifts keeps track of when you gave away games - before or after they were bundled - and gives you the appropriate contributor value (15% if gifted after bundle). How come they don't do this for price drops, too? If someone gives away a game valued at $40 (unbundled), but a year later the game drops to $20, the CV for that user's old giveaway should stay at $40 instead of dropping as well. However, as far as I can tell SteamGifts just uses the current price of a game for ALL giveaways, current and past. That's why people often complain that their CV dropped but don't know why. This seems like an underhanded way of getting people to make more giveaways so that their CV doesn't drop over time.

2a. Related to #2, there are some games in the bundled list despite not having actually been bundled. I think it's because they were discounted 90% off, which is kind of a lame reason to mark them as bundled. If a game gets a big discount and people give it away, so what? It's not like they're giving away free games like Dead Bits or Gun Monkeys.

I submitted a support ticket and asked how to proceed. My account could get flagged for not redeeming a gift, so I don't want to lose the game and then get suspended because of it. The GA creator seems to have a decent rep on the site; it may not have been their fault although I have no way to know.

Yeah, I once gave away a Saints Row the Third pack worth (at the time) $60 which was later knocked down to $20 and got dinged.  It made me petty enough to stop doing give-aways because funk dat noise.

Also, I only win crap anyway so my SG arc is to forget that the site exists for nine months, spend five days compulsively using my 300 points, win shit and then forget about it for another nine months.  One less source of drama in my life, I guess.

I did once think about doing a "Shit I won on Steamgifts" series of reviews.

I asked about it on SteamGifts, and they gave the alternative that people are getting games from G2A or similar shady websites for their giveaways. It would explain why it took so long for a chargeback, if the G2A seller used a stolen credit card to buy the games in the first place (or waited the five months to report their own card stolen, like I've had happen to me before). It's happened to more than just one giveaway in the past few days, so it could be either of the two.

That would explain why my copy of Legend Of Kay Anniversary has been revoked.

I've had that game for half a year.

TL;DR for the last page and a half: Steamgifts SUCKS.

I never really could stand them and their army of netnannies all shouting RIPORTED!

Also, yeah I guess we should be cautious where we get even our free games from.

I beat the final boss in my 20 peso Dark Souls III.

Also what the hell is up with that ass in the embedded tweet? That looks like one of those slow motion impact videos...

I didn't see it. That's what you get for not having Tomasety on ignore.

I'm at work and I like getting paid so I don't do Tomasety posts.

Yeah, I gave up on SG too. Too much of a hassle, low chances of winning, no real incentive to give away.
y u no join da giveaway trainz?

I like SG overall and still use it to enter for and give away stuff, but I don't spend much time in the community side other than cross-checking deals or glitches madjoki posts there ;). The bundle tracking threads are useful, too.

Don't know what you mean by that. Now excuse me, I need to sign up for yet another random totally not shady site giving away 10000 keys of some game that's been bundled 15 times.

Rule of thumb is 95% off, but you need to factor in regional pricing against US pricing. That throws people off since it's usually the prices in russia that cause it to be bundled. When it goes 90% off in russia and you compare that to the murican price then it's probably at least a 95% difference.

I'd mark it as not received now then contact the person who gave it to you. If they replace it then update it, otherwise you can leave it as not received or even agree to delete it. I thought it was cheap on G2A before, so I would guess it's related to that especially if it's happening to a bunch of people.

It's on my wishlist because I am an 80s child but it will have to get way cheaper than that.
Yeah this new thing has nothing to do with the 80's.

It has everything to do with shitting on your childhood.

Ok I'll look that one up. Just figured if I could find a $150 one and get it $30 cheaper might as well. But if this one is just as good I'll go with it.
I would get the $160 X52 by Saitek if you want something better...like way better.

The TFlight feels super cheap but then again I'm happy I only bought that since I used it do 10hrs lol

I hear Fox's mom is good at HOTAS, and it's only about $30 total for her.
