WELCOME TO THE NEW GAMESTOP TRADE-IN THREAD.

The new thread format will be a work in progress but this first post will be the promos that are active and useful information, but also wikified. The second post will currently be frequently asked questions but may move it into the first post. Post three will be historical trade-in values from before the list.

Website has not updated yet usually does it at 2pm pst. It is possible they jumped the gun with the TIV on just the app and the app prices are showing for 7/29.

If they did jump the gun i would dump your current gen mgsv today.

wow MGS V got a bump on old gen and dropped like a rock on new gen.  

But don't worry.  The way to trade in your new gen MGS V is thru the Pokemon deal.  YOu get ~$27 per copy.   All you have  to do is add  a Pokemon -related-item (see the list on GS) to your trades. A $7 keychain is the cheapest thing at my store.  Obviously you want to trade in as many other eligible games as you can at one time in order to reduce the per-game cost of the trinket.  R6 Siege is an easy decent money maker as well.  $20 Tomb Raider at Target is another one.  Every eligible game nets you around nearly $27.  There's a bunch of games at BB that will net you $1 under this deal.  NOt worth it unless you're at the store anyway and/or want to transfer credit.

Oh and another Pokemon item to try is a used copy of Pokemon Sapphire/Omega.  It's $31.50 used.  It trades in for $27.50.  If a used copy qualifies as a Pokemon item then it would only cost you $4 to get in on this deal.

Used copies of Pokemon do NOT trigger the $25 per game trade boost. I tried with Pre-owned Omega Ruby and it didn't work. Next we tried scanning a new version and the bonus kicked in.

I was kind of bummed b/c I had planned to trade back a preowned Omega ruby and sapphire with the collectible bonus and thus not taking a loss in order to activate the $25 game bonus. Oh well I just got a keychain, will return it some other day.

Thanks for the tip on Tomb Raider. I have lots of Target credit to burn.

The way I see it, there are probably fewer copies of last gen games like MGS. Hence the higher TIV.
 
So essentially I could take all my games in, do the Collectible bonus and get a bunch of credit. Then take that credit, take the RetailMeNot 20% Off 2 games coupon, buy copies of Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby for around $55 and trade them back in for $55 cash and keep the extra credit? So a flip on a flip...

These two deals might be able to stack next week since the 4 for $40 would be system generated (no coupon needed).

 
By the way, does anyone have any tips on the best way to view BlackBeard's spreadsheet on mobile?   It takes forever to load and its difficult to scroll because too much info to fit on screen.   I find myself just taking photos of the sheet on my laptop screen with my phone.

Just called a store and the app prices are the correct trade-in values, so looks like stealth bumps are good to go and they just havent updated the website.

Do anyone share PUR with brothers/sisters/spouse and use the same account for trade, considering GS check ID?
Do they check the ID number or the name?

I use the Sheets app on iOS.

It's out of stock and sold by a third party, my local Targets wouldn't touch that with a 30 foot pole
 
A few of my 360 games got bumps: Diablo uee $12, minecraft $12, and phantom pain $15. Unfortunately for me, I traded starfox and amazing spider man 2 last week and they both went up $5. The stealth bump gives and the stealth bump taketh away
 
Did we ever get a better handle on what the cash limit is? I should probably take some cash but don't to get banned again after just getting set loose.

How are some of you guys able to select store pickup? For some reason when I add it to my cart it defaults to shipping and even though when I attempt to select it for pickup at a store nearby that shows it available "today" it doesn't seem to allow me to set it for store pickup.

It's been a long time since people were reporting safe thresholds. $500? I'm pretty sure it was less than $1,000.
