This thread will attempt to provide a place to discuss past/present/future PC gaming deals. While mainly focusing on Steam games, any standout sales may also be presented. I will not be updating every Daily/Weekly/etc. sale. The tools to help individuals become a smarter shopper will be provided below.

See this POST for links to store sale pages, threads of interest and other tools to help you become a more informed PC game shopper.

Same kind of situation with GTA V as with the Witcher 3, where you have to buy it on Steam directly to get Steam versions and the Steam infrastructure advantages. Witcher 3 takes better advantage of Steam features, such as Steam Cloud. But of course the geniuses over at Reddit will still ask whenever there is a sale on some game store, whether GTA V can be activated on Steam.

Man, I'm so far behind on this thread. Did I miss anything good in the past 12 days? I'm entirely too lazy to catch up on 40+ pages of discussions on shoes, pizza, bad devs, gleam giveaways, shady sites, mentions of tebow, and hardware talk.

But then again, I occasionally do enjoy a good dissertation on pizza and shoes.
Everyone listed their top 10 time played games on steam.

Also, Motoki might have broken all his fingers (I ain't saying it had anything to do with Yanni... but... ).

He's been "active" according to his profile, but hasn't posted for over a week.

It's $15.00 http://store.steampowered.com/app/437351

Or do you mean: the MP-only base + upgrade is the same as buying the full game outright? Well, yeah. On the other hand, if you bought the Humble Monthly, the price is % of bundle + upgrade, which is less than $30.
Yea I have the HB one...not sure if I want to upgrade it -.-

Already have the game and SP on ps4 (that I got for le frees) KB/M just feels so right

I saw this on yahoo and thought Motoki might enjoy it.

If you bought it on Humble, go into your keys list and it should show a link to upgrade for $14.85. Lasts for 4 more days.
It's also $15 on Steam, for people with some spare Gabe Bux. I was considering getting the upgrade, but after playing a bit of the starter pack, I am not sure whether it's the sort of game that I would play regularly enough in the first place.

Looks like the only WalMart with $20 GTAV in stock is the one technically on the reservation. Tempted to go over and grab one if they are actually still in stock, but don't think my processor would be able to survive running the game from what I've heard =/.

What's your PC's specs?

I think they were laughing at the absurdity of a convention about people who wear animal costumes... and at Kage's mug. Not at the fact that people might've been hurt.
"She just learned something important about this world, something we wish we all didn't know".

I think it was more about being told what is actually going on there.
For example, I'm sure that someone with an innocent, unsullied point of view would look at that bit of video and saw "Oh, look. They're all their dressed up as mascot characters! How cute!".

Then well, someone drops a bit of knowledge on them. That's kind of a huge, awkward revelation. Now imagine that happened to you during a broadcast on national television.

This is a coffee clatch edutainment program, noone is expecting Edward R Murrow Award level professionalism here.

That's like the opposite of what Foxhack did.

Gen 2 i7, but it's a mobile on so only 2.0ghz. Bus and Cache difference between it and the minimum: 5 GT/s; 6 MB SmartCache vs 1066 MHz, 8 MB L2. Graphics card wise it's comparable to the minimum

Basically it might at minimum at best, though I plan to upgrade (to a desktop) by the end of the year hopefully. Unless my laptop craps out, figure going to wait for Zen to come out and see what sort of effect it has on the market before jumping (mainly as anything in my price range uses an FX-8320 or 50).

That's what I did. Spending Gabe bucks > spending real bucks,

I bought the game because zombies.

What's your amount of RAM? And exactly what's your vid-card?

No idea whether I actually want to buy No Man's Sky full price, day one on PC, but it would help my indecision if I knew whether my i5 6300HQ 960m 8GB RAM laptop can even run it.

You could always demo it on Steam and by demo, I mean buy it, DL, test it out, and if it doesn't run well on your laptop, ask for a refund.

Newcastle Brown Ale will help with my indecision. I'm anticipating a purchase from the Humble Store around 8:30 pm on Friday evening.

You've got an overclocking CPU, so just boot up your BIOS and follow some of these steps. Then remember that laptops are a bad idea for gaming in general because there's not much you can do for air circulation. Unless you put it in front of an AC unit.

Do you have the 4GB 960M?

Yep. 4GB. In my case, a laptop was the best I could manage. My wife wanted a new laptop that wasn't too expensive. I wanted something that could play games well enough. We compromised.

You'll be able to run the game, but not at high settings. Maybe do what Fox said, buy it and play it for an hour and see how it runs, then request a refund if you're not satisfied.

Cool. Thanks all. I may just do that. I don't expect high settings from my laptop, but I don't want to feel like I wasted my money either. Basically I just want to know it looks slightly, if imperceptibly, better than it does on console. I'm a simple, petty man.

I don't think your GPU can run NMS. And if it could I believe it would run awful.

That's assuming minim requirement on steam store are true.

Edit. This is a job for MysterD. Hopefully he will enlighten us.

Will it run on this?

i7-5500U 2.4 GHz, 8 Gb RAM, 1 TB drive, AMD FirePro M4170 1Gb

I'm somewhat tempted by the GTA deal because there's a Hellmart a few miles from where I live with several in stock, but there are a crapton of negative reviews on Steam alleging unwarranted bans. Anybody who actually has GTAV run into this problem?

Well, somebody's gotta pay him for doing something. . . .

Just gonna leave this here
http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri

should help with the stream of 'can i run it' questions
I've actually found that database to give pretty sketchy results, so I don't really trust it. As a case-in-point:

I'm sure it works fine if you have some bog-standard system configuration, but it seems as though it doesn't recognize a lot of hardware.

We wouldn't have this problem if CPU manufacturers would just use a number across all processor types that made sense without taking a graduate level class on how to read them.

Like, is a i5 from 6th gen better than a i7 from 5th gen? 4th gen? 3rd gen?

Someone that doesn't keep up with hardware would just think "higher number is better!"

Especially when that's what we were "taught" in the earlier days of processors when they advertised clock speeds.

It's like these people don't know about Google... I swear.

Listen guys, I just bought 2 monitors and a 1070... can it run on this? I just want minimum graphics with like 1000 fps. What do you think? Will it run?
Askjeev is better. Hope this thread don't get derailed with all the can it run questions.

Congrats on the 1070

That site is never accurate and I have run a lot of games it tells me I have no business running by ignoring it.

In other news, Monoprice has gaming mousepads on sale.  $5 and $6 shipped.

Syntax,

Are they any good?
