So is the coin thing confirmed? That alone influenced my buying a few games that were on sale...

Hell I didn't even buy box box boy yet since it has no coins associated with a purchase..
I still want to know that. I figured someone had to have purchased something.

That they fixed the "glitch" where you got the full value of coins for sale items.
But has anyone confirmed it with a purchase? I know it shows on the store website the lower amount, but real world purchase results would be nice to verify. If there was a game I wanted that was on sale, I'd do it myself.

I bought one of the sub $5 games whose MSRP is above $5 and still got the 10 gold points. The site is just auto-labeling the points you get based on the price, but they haven't changed how it gives you points for the MSRP instead of the sale price.

THANK YOU for confirming this. I still need some 5 coins for Metroid II (then 40 more for DK3) and this will make it easier.

Thanks! I'm just glad I got Donkey Kong Country Returns with gold coins before it went away. Hoping for something good like that to come up again.

As soon as Nintendo puts some good deals up, I'd be down for that.

Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice comes out September 8th with a demo on August 25th.
Yeah, I'll be waiting on the half off sale on this one. Those bastards Crapcom said with DD, that if it sold well, they would consider a physical version for that game, or future titles at least, which was complete BS!

I bought DD launch day to show support, and while I'm glad they saw fit to bring the latest one over, I'm still pissed with the no physical part of it all.

If LRG can ever do a "N" related title for physical release, PW needs to be it. I can't really see Crapcom ever bothering on their end, so this would be a perfect marriage, if "N" will allow for a qty that's not to much where it is no longer "limited", but small enough to move units quickly.

A game series like PW is too big for LRG. No offense to them, but I'd think Yacht Club Games would be a better fit as they would at least make sure production would be enough to get them into stores and not just niche collectibles.

Trying something new to note how many My Nintendo points you should get with each game that's on sale, if it's eligible.

Standard promotion of how you should buy the Phoenix Wright games if you haven't already.

I like that Ambition of the Slimes is releasing at $5.00 and not $4.99.  Shouldn't it nab 10 gold coins since it's within the $5.00 -> $9.99 range My Nintendo states for 10 gold coins?  I know the webstore page doesn't list the coins... but it seems like it should.

I watched the video for the game (too bad no demo) and I think it's something I want to get.  It oozes charm.  If only these were actual Dragon Quest Slimes.

...

I was considering one of the Jewel Quest games but they have pretty bad reviews out there and fairly middling to bad user feedback.  4 Elements looked to have some pretty universal positive reviews and feedback and looks more fun so I bought that (in part for the 10 gold coins).  It did work (as expected0. I got the 10 coins which pushed me over to 35... so I was able to get Metroid 2 and redeem the code.  Looks like I also got a pretty solid match-3 game, which from time to time I really do enjoy that genre between more serious games.

I have PW 1->3 in physical form... yet I kind of want the original trilogy whjile it's on sale ... and I still need that sequel as it's the only english released game in the franchise I don't currently own.  Maybe I'll get some eshop cards this weekend to get them.  Either way, those are pretty solid prices.

Definitely in for the Phoenix Wright Trilogy this time around. Loved loved loved those games back when they were new.

Will also get a couple of the .99 games. Easy Gold coins.

Some fans talked to Circle Entertainment about the My Nintendo coins thing, and they intend to release all games that would normally be priced at $4.99 or $9.99 as $5 and $10, respectively. (Games not priced in intervals of $5 are not affected.) They really listen to fans and try to keep them happy.

Speaking of, I most likely missed my shot at a free game. They were giving away a DSiWare game to the first NA player to get a screenshot of the Ambition of the Slimes title screen.

Also, don't be in a rush to get some of those $1 games if you're getting them for the coins. Notice that some of those sales last until December; wait until you actually need the coins so they don't expire.

That's pretty much what I was in the process of typing up. If I get the PW games I'll end up with 65 coins (currently have 5)... I'll spend 40 on DK3 and then I'm done until the next batch of games. Which as it is, the current batch of free games end October 1st. So I'm playing it smart and waiting on the gold coin fodder since even when those go off sale, they will most likely be on sale again soon enough and who knows the next round of freebies may not have anything I want.

So yeah, play the gold coin thing smart.

I wonder if Nintendo will ever 'fix' the coins to reflect sales price, but yeah outside of that, I want to wait until Sept 1st or beyond for better My Nintendo offers before I buy a bunch of shitty games to boost my coins.

Edit: saw the blurb about Sega 3D Classics next week. Really hoping for a sale on the second collection.

There's still not even anything that I want (and don't already have) on My Nintendo. I would buy SMB3 in a hot second if it were for 3DS, but I don't have a Wii U.

A game series like PW is too big for LRG. No offense to them, but I'd think Yacht Club Games would be a better fit as they would at least make sure production would be enough to get them into stores and not just niche collectibles.
Well, that's just it isn't it, Capcom doesn't want it in stores, otherwise it would be there. They are more than capable on their own, but it's not worth their time to do so. The whole point of LRG is to get digital only software in to the hands of fans who don't want it digital, but want physical instead.

LRG has already mentioned that they wanted to do DD, but I haven't heard much past the "dream" of it. As you can see by Shadow Complex, they can go as big or as small as the developer would like. The main point is to sale out and not sit on inventory, which I have to assume is the main reason most companies go "digital" only in the first place, as they don't want to deal with the logistics of physical and retail.

I think LRG has more than proved they can do whatever games developers may want to release, so it just comes down to if Capcom or others are willing to make it happen or not. In the end, I think LRG would be perfect for a physical run of PW titles, but Capcom is like "N" in that if they don't want to do something, they'll probably do their best to make sure others don't as well, as it shows them up in the end.

PW is a weird animal because it should have enough of a following to justify bring in retail but they clearly didn't feel that the DS games paid off the investment. At least we're getting the games I guess.

posted this in the Amazon prime thread but no one pays attention to that one: Nintendo selects now up for preorder with 20% discount.

Dual Destinies got more promotion than literally all 5 of the previous games combined.
Agreed, and it's had tons of different sales as well. I really do hope that they allow LRG or someone else to offer these games in physical form, but I won't be holding my breath.

This is why I support LRG every chance I get, as the bigger they become, the more likely games like PW can be added to the list.

Guys, it's crapcom, unless the game is rereleased 50 times and sells 20 million copies each time despite it just being a rerelease, then they won't give it the time of day

Yah, preordered Luigi's Mansion yesterday. I had tried it a while back but found it difficult. Got annoyed and traded it away. Always regretted not playing more of that one, because the production quality was stellar. I remember finding it really hard to capture ghosts without taking lots of damange.

Are any of the $1 games worth buying? I haven't signed up for MyNintendo on either of my accounts, but I do like cheap games.

Capcom probably just doesn't see there's enough profit in a small 50,000 unit run to make it worth doing themselves. They are really too big of a company spend the time or money to handle it. Yacht Club Games though is something like 8 people. They don't have to make as much money for something to be profitable. That's surely part of why they are publishing Gunvolt physically to retail. They know the path, the profit margins, and already have the contacts to get it done for enough of a profit to make it worth doing. I think this is part of the reason Konami had to tell Iga no so many times on some of his game ideas. The great hardcore 2d Castlevania games were just not profitable enough for a large company to produce... they needed something to bring in new players and the only way to do that was to dumb the games down and add social stuff.

Shadow Complex is getting 7500 (6900 for sale). I would say it's a lot less well known than something like Phoenix Wright. We are also talking 3DS which the minimums are surely 50,000 units. That's far above anything LRG has paid for up to this point. We saw 12K people competing for Soldner and those few B&C Bundles... imagine 100K people showing up for a one time run of Phoenix Wright Duel Destinies! Talk about webstore problems. It would be a nightmare and I doubt their storefront would scale up to handle it.

And speaking of YCG, they did an AMAZGING write up on producing Shovel Knight (digital and physical), the costs involved, the units sold and so on. READ IT. It's enlightening: http://yachtclubgames.com/2016/04/feat-unlocked-one-million-copies-of-shovel-knight-sold/

I think LRG is just too small a concept to handle 3DS. The smaller niche titles won't sell out a 50K run in one day (like 3DS games would need to be) but they can sell out 6K units no problem (well for Vita at least). The bigger titles from major publishers wouldn't be wooed by tiny profits and a permanent limit being put on their option to print more money if the games sell out. And for bigger games, 50K may not even be enough. It's just bad business for bigger publishers. It doesn't matter much at all to a tiny publisher that never even considered having their game published physically. That's also why the 3DS has seen a lot less shovelware than the DS did. It costs that much more to publish for it than the DS (and DS cost more than GBA). It drove a lot of the budget game publishers away. That's part of the reason the library has sort of stalled out and also part of why publishers of more niche titles had to incentivize their games with LE's (or bundled soundracks or Watches or whatever at launch) to sell enough units to make it worth doing. Nintendo kind of caught themselves in a bind as well because of the cost to produce games has limited the number of games being published (right now it's less than the Vita is having physically published) which has kept production costs high. This has also kept a lot of retail prices higher this gen.

So really if you want more 3DS games, buy Gunvolt. Buy River City Tokyo Rumble. Buy Dragon Quest VII. Get SMT IV Apocalypse as well. Buy the physical copy of Shantae Pirate's Curse (3DS) on launch day along side that copy of Half-Genie Hero (I'm getting it on Vita). Supporting LRG I don't think will help. Support them to get more physical vita games! I think the PS4 stuff is already on shaky ground as is. Resellers are already selling PS4 LRG games at cost or even a small loss (minus all the fees for ebay, paypal & shipping). It's only a matter of time before the resellers start ignoring the PS4 games which they are a huge driving force behind these games selling out so quickly. If there is no profit in the PS4 games, that'll also drive away some collectors. Once the demand drops they can lower the production numbers to incentivize the customer base to collect them. It'll be like any other collectible... hot for a while... then just not. I mean look at all those special foil cover comics from the 90's. It was a great way to get people to buy the issues at launch. Eventually the market kind of cannibalized itself and to this day a lot of these special foil comics haven't appreciated in value at all (stares at my mint Silver Surfer v3 #50).

I know I already stopped buying the LRG Vita games (only got the first 2 or so)....games just don't interest me. Only Cosmic Star Heroine and Waifu Bar Simulator are on my watch list. People are obsessed with having complete NA Vita collections though, which is helping the sales a lot.

Hopefully non play-asia orders open up soon for River City Ransom 3DS.

This. I've been waiting patiently for Amazon, or someone - anyone - to list this so I can preorder it. It's supposed to come out in just over a month I believe. I really hope its not a Play Asia exclusive because how much sense would it be for an international company to be the exclusive seller of a North American game? Oh wait....Rice Digital....

On a different, though slightly related note, I also noticed Play Asia is now advertising a North American physical release for a new PS4 Wild Guns Reloaded game. Would like to preorder that eventually too.

Stella Glow looks gorgeous but I don't know if $30 is worth it or not. Since it's an ATLUS game, would it go down any further any time soon or is $30 just the right price?

It's a fun game though it pisses me off how you're limited time on the first play through. It's slightly simple but fun with an alright story.

I wondered why Shovel Knight was never more than 33% off, but now I know. I was waiting for it to be in an indie bundle, but sounds like it won't happen.

Ambition of the Slimes - $5.00

picked up this game last night and i guess its okay....  there are 7 worlds and each world has  4 to 5 different maps and each map  there are 8  different ranking (like easy normal hard then  5 challenge maps)    you move the slime around and jump into people mouth to take over the people.  you only gain  exp at the end of each map and all of the slimes you pick  to go into that map gains the exp  no matter if only  1 killed everone so mostly no way to make a tank..  There are only  33 slimes and the only way to get slimes  is to replay the maps

like on the first map you have a    75% chance  to get  one slime after you beat the map and a  25% chance to get the other.  so you have to replay the same map over and over and over until you get lucky and get the other slime... What is worse  you can not combine slimes (i dont think)   you have to play the challenge maps to get the better slimes, theres are  a lot harder then hard so you will have to advance to  other maps and hopefully come back to get these..

i played about   2 hours so far

did   easy normal hard on the  first map  level  1  2  3  ..   level  4  i cant even beat hard so i have to grind  more just to get past it

overall okay for  5 bucks but get ready for a massive grind

It's a Circle Entertainment game, so I'm going to wait for an eventual sale. Thanks for the review, slidecage!

be a better one later maybe monday when i put more time into it

also forgot there are only 33 slimes and you can only hold 30. its only like 350 blocks shows how small of a game it is

taking this game down from a 7 to around a 1 or 2... game is very boring and grindie. seems you get the same amount of exp playing on map 1-1 as map 2-1

I'm going to buy that visual novel series while it's on sale (Harvest December or whatever it was). Always like to support good looking visual novels. I may also buy Gotta Protector believe it's called since it looks fun.

Has anyone played Coveni Dream yet?

Ehhhh....... the visuals are nice, but the dialogue is atrociously bad. I like this type of VN but i couldn't even finish the demo for it
