Anyone getting a ps4 pro?

I'm really debating on it myself.

I have some extra money and I'm thinking I might get a ps4pro, and a Samsung 4k tv with hdr and 120hz native refresh for my game room. I can afford both but I'm wondering if enough games coming out will utilize it or not. Like I know final Fantasy 15 will, horizon, mass effect and few others. Hope fallout 4 does for when the goty version comes out and I play it again.

Plus I'd have a 4k tv ready for future use. I'll probably give it a couple weeks after it launches just to see if there are any wide spread problems with it then get one.

Curious if anyone else plans on picking one up.

I don't plan on getting a pro since I don't see an advantage of it, but I do wanna make a point about the tv invade you do get the set up you want.

With most 4K tvs especially Samsung they will state a 120hz motionrate or similar depending on brand. But the actual rate will be 60 instead. I say this because I have a Samsung 4K set from last year and it doesn't have hdr but I did say it was 120 motionrate but the actual was only 60, it's not a major deal anymore but I just wanted you to be aware as well.

You can look up reviews for the tv as well to see if it is 120 actual or if it is lower

I said 120hz native, thats what the one Im getting is. Id never buy a 120hz motionplus because it isnt 120 native refresh.

I haven't decided yet. I'm torn between picking it up or getting a 1070 for my gaming PC. I already have a 4k tv but there really aren't many games I plan to pick up this fall for PS4. I have a 970 currently though so not sure if the $400 upgrade to a 1070 is worth it either.

What model Samsung do you have? My Samsung tv(UN55JU7100) specs said it didn't support HDR but my Xbox One S says it does.

I'll be picking one up mainly as an investment in remasters and 4k gaming w/ mods. Now that almost all the PC games I enjoy eventually see a PS4 release, I'm having a hard time sticking to a 24" monitor over the 65".

I'm planning on getting a PS4 Pro :)

I have a PS3 and I'm looking forward to all the PS4 games that should be cheap by now! LOL.

Our TV is 1080p. No current plans to get a 4K TV, unless our current TV breaks. However, I feel like the $100 extra for the Pro versus the PS4 Slim is worth it for the increased storage, GPU, CPU, extra USB, and optical audio out.

I already bought a PS4 controller so I'll have a spare. Now I'm hoping there are some good deals or bundles for the holidays!

People still use optical audio?

I have a 4K TV w/ HDR but I'll be skipping the pro for a considerable amount of time.  I'll definitely be selling my Xbone and getting an S.  I would do the same with my PS4, but it's an MGSV red import so I'd rather not get rid of it.

That said, if a Death Stranding PS4 Pro comes out...

I'm getting the NX instead.  I think I'm going to wait.  I don't need a new TV now, and I'm not sure that there are real benefits for a plain 1080p TV.  Now the NX is coming out I rather put the PS4 Pro money towards that, and then pick up the pro later in 2017 when there's a price drop.

I already have a 4K TV with true HDR so I might as well get it. I'll also be upgrading the HDD to a 2TB.

Well I got the 4k tv and man even though it isn't running 4k stuff the colors look more vibrant on it, even just on the ps4 menu screen. So ps4pro here I come.

I have a question about upgrading hard drives.

I've never done it before and I read I need a 9.5mm one so does anyone have a suggestion on what to get for it? I want a sata3 drive since it will support it and I want solid state but I want one that will fit (1tb is plenty for me) Andis of good quality so it lasts.

I'll be picking one up eventually. Mainly because I want a new console and because it has a rear USB for the headset. I'm not sure if I want to pick one up at Launch or if I want to wait for a Special Edition.

I'm getting one, got $200 for my PS4 and enough credit at Gamestop to cover the rest. Also, was lucky and got COD:IW for free with it thanks to that glitch yesterday.

I wish they would do a trade-in bonus like everybody did for the X1s. Only $150 or lower now for the ps4.

If anyone has a 4k tv and unsure if their cables are hdmi 2.0 to give full support here is an inexpensive cable I got. I was surprised that it was a nice heavy duty cable and not cheap feeling. Works great for me.

I upgraded it too a ssd drive also. I never had to juggle much with my 500gb drive so I went with the less expensive 760gb one. I notice a difference in online games the most like destiny. Aside from disc access I can't even hear my ps4pro make any noise at all now.

There is no such thing as HDMI 2.0 cables. HDMI cables are compatible with 4k, 1k, and all versions they like to slap on these. The only, ONLY caveat is that extremely cheap cables may not be capable of HDR due to bandwidth and the length of the cable. Best place to get your cables is Monoprice, as they're ~$2 or less depending on length and will have no problems with any of the above.

After a lot of research recently and talking to the AV department where I work you're wrong, mostly.

There is a difference between hdmi 1.0 and 2.0.

Yes they are all interchangeable and will technically work. Hdmi 1 supports 1.1, 1.2, 1.2a, 1.4 and so because the differences are based on the firmware in the device. Yes 1.0 will work on 2.0 capable devices but you will not get the extra additions added to 2.0 unless you have a 2.0 cable and device that supports 2.0 features.

True there is no real hdmi 2.0 cable so to speak. But hdmi 2.0 cables do have the ability to move the bandwidth required for true 4k while older cables can not and thus hampers the signal.

Since your standard 1.0 hdmi cables can handle 1786mb of data a newer 2.0 cable can handle about 8gb which is needed to get the best 4k experince.

Then you have build quality. The thicker wire allows for better transmission than thinner cheap ones and more insulation protects against signal loss or interference. Ones I pointed out have great build quality.

So be my guest and buy cheap ass cables from Monoprice. I'll pay slightly more and get what is better. Besides 2 bucks to 10 bucks isn't a huge leap in price.

You're talking about the difference between standard and high-speed cables which is a moot point since nobody buys standard anymore. AWG thickness is not going to make a difference, only the speed they're rated for period. This is why people buy into the 4K HDMI nonsense and pay far too much for cables.

". . .It's important to remember, there's no such thing as HDMI cable "versions." There's no such thing as a "HDMI 2.0 cable." The version numbers refer to the HDMI connections in your gear. Which is to say, your TV can have HDMI 2.0 inputs, but your HDMI cable is just an HDMI cable. Any High-speed will do. So even if you bought a High-speed cable when all your gear was 1080p and HDMI 1.4, it will probably work now with 4K HDR and HDMI 2.0a gear. . ."

Honestly, the HDMI cable stuff and the new standards kind of confuse the hell out of me. Especially since the 4K and HDR standards don't seem to be set yet. I typically buy from Amazon since I like their cables and I get them in like 2 days. $8 for two HDMI cables that meet the latest standard and I don't have to think about it.

I still love monoprice and have a lot of their cables. There are just some things where I like Amazon more. Although, I don't think it really matters since the PS4 Pro comes with a 4K cable, I think the Xbox One S comes with one and I'm pretty sure the Scorpio will come with one too.

Well... I once said that the PS4 Pro exists to push their new TVs and it may have worked on me. They're selling a nice 4K 55inch Sony TV that supports HDR 10, has 4 HDMI ports, a composite and component port with a PS4 Pro for $999 at Best Buy.

I wasn't quite ready to jump into 4K, but I'm really tempted to pull the trigger. It's a good size, looks like it has good reviews, it has legacy ports (lacking in many HDR sets) and the price isn't bad.

With the Xbox Scorpio coming out next year, and the PS4 Pro unable to read 4K UHD movies , you've got to think that Sony will be coming out with yet another iteration of the PS4 in the near aggregate future, don't you think?

I may get a PS4Pro but I don't plan on getting a 4K tv till next year. I'm willing to bet there will be better 4K options that combine both 4K and HDR at a proper balance next year since the PS4Pro will have been on the market long enough.

I have a 32" TV now and don't want any larger then 40" for gaming. I have a whole other TV I use for watching everything else. Yes it might seem pointless with 4K at 40" but I think HDR will make more of a difference. I'm also looking for a TV that doesn't have a huge reflection problem. I bought a Samsung KU6300 and while the picture was great, it was too heavy for the size and it reflected light like a mirror. I ended up returning it. I don't even have lamp or window issues, just a overhead bedroom light that's frosted/domed. Still I could have shaved with a straight razor it was so mirrored. I was playing remastered Skyrim and I could see objects reflecting in the screen. Crazy distracting.

Does anyone use a 4K computer monitor with their PS4 Pro?

My 4K w/ HDR TV cost $500 and came with a 4k Blu Ray player that I sold for $200. The buy in for quality isn't too steep.

That said, I would probably jump on a PS4Pro if it wasn't so ugly and had greater benefits. I'll be fine with the Xbox One S for 4K stuff, and HDR will be fine through normal Ps4. I'll wait and see, which is never a bad option for gaming. Hopefully the benefits are solid for future games.

I might be less hesitant if I didn't have the red/black MGSV Ps4 from Japan. I'm keeping it forever, unlike my xbox one that I sold to upgrade to XboneS for cheap.
