It's very well known that the Zelda title was in the works for years for the Wii U, until they no longer continued to discuss it.

So everyone knew it was delayed so they could do the exact same things they did with the GC & Wii games. You neither see it for what is is or you won't. So while the game wasn't completed when this went down, it would have released years ago if not for the NS.

So yeah, I see this as the exact same thing.

I think it's pretty fair to assume the reason Breath of the Wild isn't out yet is because of the NX. It is a better business decision to release both at the same time, however anyone who thinks it's not out yet for any reason other than Nintendo is waiting to release it on both consoles at the same time is fooling themselves.

That's a hell of an assumption. Zelda games have notoriously long development cycles. If it could have been released years ago, I'm sure they would have. God knows the Wii U could have used the game as a way to boost sales.

EDIT: I do think that Breath of the Wind would be released earlier if it weren't for Switch development, for the record.

Eh, I'm not so sure, to be honest. The developers are doing something they've never done before and they're introducing a LOT more freedom and variables than they've ever put into a Zelda game. And they've already said there won't be a substantial difference between the two versions, so they don't have to tack on stuff like motion controls at the last minute or mirror the world.

I think the earliest it would have been released either way is this holiday.

All I'm saying is, Ubisoft saw the Wii U sold poorly, so instead of loosing time, effort and funds on a loosing horse, they decided to release it elsewhere, so it wasn't a total loss.

"N" saw the same things with the Wii U, and after sales pretty much died, and they realized there was no way they could release it on the Wii U, and make any money, they delayed it and now offers it on the NS as well.

Now whatever else went on behind the scenes is anyone's guess, but if the NX had never been announced, this new Zelda game would have already been released and enjoyed by Wii U owners.

So the same ones defending this BS, are the same ones who now have to wait, because "N" want's to make the most money possible from their efforts, why is Ubisoft bad for doing the same thing?

Again, I think you're moving the goalposts.

No one (here, at least) has issue with Ubisoft releasing the game on other platforms.  The issue is that Ubisoft delayed a completed game 2 weeks before release, for reasons that probably didn't make much business sense.  They easily could have released the completed Wii U game with ports coming later, which might have actually helped them build interest for the ports if the Wii U release reviewed well and got some hype (see Frisky's post).

While I don't doubt that the focus on a Switch version delayed development, Nintendo never announced a release date for Breath of the Wind, and I'm not convinced that Breath of the Wind would have already been released.  Nintendo makes loads of stupid decisions, and they certainly hold back completed games - see Paper Mario: Color Splash - but I don't think the two situations you're trying to compare here are the same.

Anyway: What starter is everyone picking for Pokemon?  I'm still not sure if I want Litten or Rowlet.

At no point was Breath of the Wild ever two weeks out from release on Wii U before Nintendo swooped in and delayed it to released on their mysterious next console.

If you're suggesting it was delayed just for NX, which of the delays was the NX delay? It has had several big delays from 2015 to 2017 that makes your specific claim very dubious, especially if it's supposed to be the exact same situation as Rayman Legends. The better comparison would be to Twilight Princess, where Nintendo's console was not doing well enough to stay viable for a second Zelda development cycle, so they couldn't ignore the notion that their time would be best spent developing it for both platforms to give players some options. Unfortunately for that situation, the two versions were very different in terms of features and support to make that move very divisive, which doesn't seem likely to happen here with the way that Breath of the Wild doesn't really seem to have any gimmicks to its gameplay or controls.

Rayman Legends was announced for a 2/23/13 release date and the delay to port to PS3, Xbox 360, and PC was on 2/7. Right as they were looking to play the game, it was delayed to port elsewhere. That's not what happened to Breath of the Wild. Not even close.

You'll have to explain how the two situations are exactly the same since I'm not seeing it.

I chose the Owl because I like the fact that he can attack and it doesn't hit me for paralysis and poison.  That's going to be fun later on (for once, I tend to dump my started quick in favor of Butterfree)

I've actually gotten a lot of female Pokemon so far. Got a female Pichu I nicknamed Ikue and a female Yungoos I nicknamed Ivanka.

So I noticed you can't transfer Pokémon in Pokémon bank to the new games until there is an update in january? Why wouldn't they have it ready at launch?

The last one didn't either. They don't want cheaters to play. Google and see all the new "protections" written in for the game. Cheaters! (I don't give a crap by the way... but it's funny)

So you don't just immediately transfer in your old Pokemon and sweep everybody with your Level 100 team.

Question:  Maybe you guys are smarter than me but I don't understand.

How do we get friends to show up in our little mini city?  It doesn't seem to have anything to do with Streetpassing.  My kid shows up there but when I went out lastnight to the movies it grabbed NO ONE.  Now, I know, I'm early on the bandwagon but it seems like Pokemon has completely ignored SP's.  Instead, it had me register on the Poke website with a code (I don't understand why).

Edit:  AHHHHH interesting read:

Dammit Nintendo, why did you have to schedule your Switch presentation for January? The rumors are getting more prevalent.

Anyway, today's rumor comes in the form of the lineup.

Launch day:
- Mario 3D Switch
- Just Dance 2017 (will use JoyCons for motion control)
- Mario Rabbids RPG (overseen by Nintendo)
- Splatoon Port
- Skyrim

First 6 months:
- Smash Bros. port, along with Cloud and Bayonetta amiibo.
- Zelda: Breath of the Wild (simultaneous release with the Wii U)
- Telltale Guardians of the Galaxy (weekly release leading up to the movie)
- Mario Kart 8 port
- Xenoblade Chronicles X port
- The Silver Case (whatever that is)

Second half of 2017:
- Pikmin Switch (no longer Pikmin 4, but a series reboot)
- Project Sonic 2017
- Pokémon Stars (to be released in Autumn, probably November)

2018:
- Beyond Good & Evil 2 (Switch exclusive)

As always, take this with a grain of salt.

Yeah, that list looks believable, but that is also how the tricksters do with these rumors. If it's to out there, you know it's fake right away.

I don't see this lineup converting over the masses, but for those early adopters, it seems about the "norm".

Hmm if that's the case I might consider picking one up around holiday 2017. I can't imagine buying another Nintendo console at launch though.

I love Nintendo but I learned after the "U" not to buy at launch. I am going to wait until the holidays to buy the Switch. All the "U" ports make it easy to wait.

The Silver Case is a remake of an old Suda 51 visual novel that's part of a loose trilogy that includes Flower, Sun and Rain and Killer 7.

Now, Instead of waiting until the BOGO sales later in the year like I planed, I'll get the NS when The Silver Case comes out. I've been waiting for this since the now-canceled DS port was announced.

Zelda I still plan on getting for the Wii U, that version'll be rarer anyways.

I'd rather have a Killer 7-2. Honestly, I was always disappointed Killer 7 didn't get a Wiimote control edition.

It seems weird getting so many ports, but at the same time I don't mind - I never got a Wii U, so there are several games I could get in on if I get a Switch.

At the end of the day, no one really bought the Wii U, so this is an opportunity for people like you to have games to play while waiting on new ones, and long term fans will jump in again for the new added content, so it's really a win/win.

I'm not a huge fan of buying remakes, but it fits a need, and is done all the time for new systems, so I can't fault "N" for going down that road.

Considering how long ago they gave up on the Wii U, and started work on the NS, they should have a lot more "new" titles/games at this point, but speed has never been their strong suit, so that list looks legit as it is.

Don't pay much attention to 3DS releases since I don't use mine a lot, so never knew they made 3D versions of Sonic 1 and 2. Are these well done? Might be time for another Sonic 2 playthrough.

Probably the two best versions of these games out there. SEGA M2 division really went above and beyond.

So I am hearing the $99 3DS on Black Friday has a smaller screen than the 3DS XL. Is that a deal breaker or should I go for it anyway?
Yeah, this model is like a "medium" size version, as it's not as small as the OG, but not as big as the XL. Most stores have the XL on display, so it would be best to try that, and see if you like it.

I've owned all the different models at one point or another, and the standard N3DS is my favorite. Some of the changeable face plates are cool, but I just personally prefer the smaller size, as I have small hands, and the XL just isn't good for long play sessions.

Both are cool, but it's a personal preference for sure. Honestly, the $100 price can't be beat, but even getting it cheap won't matter, if you don't like the form factor of it.

If it was a deal breaker, nobody here would be excited for it.

There are people who swear by the XL models, but if you're asking other people for advice then you're obviously not one of them.

Will you be catching a male Pumpkaboo and naming it Trump to go with Ivanka?

Yep, SEGA actually put a lot of love and fandom in to these.

I prefer the non XL N3DS in every way.

Why wouldn't you just name it Trumpkaboo and teach it Facade, Trick, Swagger, and Foul Play? Make sure it has the Frisk ability so you know what the Purrloins are hiding.

Well, I haven't even seen any Pumpkaboo yet and I just got through the Ghost Trial. Don't even know if it can be captured in-game.

Even if it were, I wouldn't subject such a darling to that hideous name.

And I named my Trainer Magnum, after Hawaii's greatest warrior.

New Switch news, but actual factual news instead of a rumor. Lego City Undercover: Join the Chase (which is also coming to PS4, XBox One, and Steam) is coming to the Switch.

There are no Pumpkaboo in the games to catch.

It really sucks for me though, because I own a WiiU and there are still a few games I want. But now I'm not going to buy them in case they get a Switch release.
