Took a full week. Finally got internet back. Now I can post useless comments more often. Like this one.
I see your useless comment and raise you.

Spent 38 minutes on chat with support because my SUPERHOT key was already redeemed.

After all that they made me open a ticket.

I guess it's my fault for buying from G2A in the first place.

Bad Rats Show honestly isn't awful, the poor voice acting and stupid rat caricatures are kind of charming. But it takes way too long to test out different configurations; there needs to be a 4x speed button or something. The controls are also just generally bad and unresponsive.

Save Jesus is actually pretty fun! It gets kinda hard starting at level 30.

Thanks for the hour of amusement, Fox and Bah.

anyone here SLI 2x 970gtx?

Debating whether to jump to 10 series or SLI the 9 series.
Not me. Never done it or tried it.

It probably really depends on (hopefully) how cheap you can either get two 970's for; or if you already have a 970 already and can get another one dirt cheap. If you can get it ultra-cheap - yeah, might be worth a shot to SLI.

Otherwise, eh - I'd probably rather go get a new card w/ more VRAM; i.e. 6GB 1060, 8GB 1070, or 8GB 1080. While some games can push that 1080p at higher settings to 4GB of VRAM usage (Far Cry 4 + Batman AK come to mind) - it's really 1440p and 4K at higher settings that can eat up lots of more VRAM.

New list of SLI supported games - http://www.geforce.com/games-applications/technology/sli

Old list of SLI supported games - http://www.nvidia.in/object/sli-technology-games-in.html

If you are thinking of SLI'ing, you might want to grab NVidia Inspector (in case you don't have it) just in case there are some games you might be able to unofficially force SLI On with. Do some Google searches and find out on how to do it. I don't know how to - don't have 2 cards, never tried it.

Hopefully you got a bad-ass PSU to handle 2 of them 970's, if you're going this route.

My "meh" w/ SLI is while you'll improve performance on games + resolutions likely on games that SLI works with officially and/or those you can force it on w/ using NVidia Inspector, you still have some things to deal with. Not all games support SLI officially. Obviously, you might need NVidia Inspector to force it + learn Hex on how to force it on games that don't support it officially.

You'll still be limited to just ONE card's VRAM buffer count; in other words, you'll still be stuck 3.5GB VRAM buffer on the 970. So, if you have a game w/ 4GB or above higher-end graphical settings (like Dishonored 2, Doom 2016, SoM, etc) - eh, you're still stuck w/ that 3.5GB limit, even while doing SLI.

Also, performance is said that SLI isn't always exactly 2x's b/c you have two cards. Maybe, maybe not; it normally depends per game.

SeasonalCAG Hardware SLI Fogee:

I had 970 SLI and never had the problems that others would with drivers or stuff not running right. I was nice when I had my three monitor setup. I had upgrade from 580 SLI setup and it was a huge improvement. If I was in your situation right now I would definitely go with a 10 series card because a 1070 or 1080 should be able to spank a 970 SLI setup without worrying about SLI games or hacks to get them to run with both (unless you like to tinker which I did at the time and Nvidia Inspector would be your friend). Also with rumors of a 1080ti and AMD Vega on the horizon it should push all the cards down in price if you have patience.

TLDR: Get a 10 Series card now or wait to see if 1080ti and AMD Vega pushes card prices down.

With one 970, most games here are fine w/ 1440p at Medium-to-High at 50-60FPS and 4K is often unplayable with 30FPS or below (except for Sims 4 + WWE 2K16 - those are above 40FPS).

Was SLI'ing two 970's ever getting you 60FPS at 4K at Medium settings or above?

I wouldn't even consider any kind of SLI nowadays. Games need to be optimized to run well in a multiGPU configuration which means extra work for devs.

Just jump to 10 series or wait Vega and/or Pascal 2.0/Volta

Brodate:

We had an extra special one last night for Rainbow Six Siege. As usually, I forgot to update the game and sat out the first hour. We had a full house and almost enough for two groups. FissFiss' "girlfriend" showed up to insult Eldritch, but he deserved it and Siri was only doing what she was told. Trey and Sasquatc4 had to endure me being on their team. Usually I was the first to die so I at least got to spectate and learn from the pros, but one time I was the last man standing and had to scurry out and fight or else the rest of the team would find out I was hiding behind something the entire round.

I had SLI'd 260s when it was cheaper than buying a 280 but offered similar performance. But I'll never do it again, you only got the performance on optimized games and optimized drivers. And then there might be a new driver or patch that changes something and you have to wait for the next patch or driver before it works again. It was just a headache, I remember Arkham Asylum wouldn't even use the second card for anything but PhysX.

I'm still using my SLI 670s and they work well. But if I was doing it all over again I would probably just go with the more powerful single card. Unless you stumble across a really good deal on a 9XX GPU.

GBK Presents:

The Most Bitter Man on eBay

My item: $40

First offer ($15): Not trying to lowball, that's just what I have to spend. :)
Second offer ($17.50)

Me (counter $30): Hello, my listing is already the lowest on eBay and the last few of these that I remember seeing sold were around the $30-40 mark (a few months ago).

Him (counter $20):

Completed listings show none sold. Google turns up one that sold for $26 in June 2016 (131842482173). A thing is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. If it were worth $40, it would have sold. I'll pay you directly to save fees if you like.

Me: You are quite right, an item is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I am happy to hang on to these until demand increases or supply decreases to the point where I get the price I'm looking for. Similarly, I am sure that if you are patient you will find a set at the price point you are looking for. I'm looking for $24 after fees/shipping. If you were to pay via PayPal "friends and family" that would be about $26.50. Otherwise, I wish you luck in finding another listing. Take care.

Him: I'm going to assume that we're clear now that past sale prices were not "around the $30-$40 mark" as you made up earlier.

I'm going to make a suggestion. Here's what your first message, in its entirety, should have been: "How about $26.50 paid through PayPal?" That's it. Don't make up past sale prices (why did you think I wouldn't have checked that?) and skip the part where you're a smarmy turd over five dollars.

Why would you think that lying and passive-aggressive bullshitting is the best way to entice a buyer and close a sale? What is wrong with you?

Me: Boy, you must be fun at parties.

I remembered past sale prices being at about that mark. I was wrong-- they were "ended" rather than "sold" listings (see #261720769748). I don't particularly care whether you believe me or not.

It's amazing that you felt the need to blast me with this vitriolic message, yet you lack the self-awareness to see how condescending the message with your offer was. Did you really think that treating a seller like a child was the way to go?

Thanks for the amusement. I genuinely wish you the best in the future. If haggling over the price of some pins hits you this hard, I fear for those around you when a legitimate problem turns up.

Him:

You chose to make this an debate, dumbshit. :whistle2:*

Thank you for confirming you lied about sale prices. No need to apologize, I forgive you.

Should I be the bigger of two little men and let him have the last word? Should I send him only a smiley face back?

Who's the asshole--me, him, or both of us? You decide!

Well, dude clearly lied in his first message about what he had to spend, so getting on your case for lying about the sale price (if that's what you even did) seems kind of hypocritical.

I would just block the buyer - that's as good as the last word.

I really didn't lie. I could have sworn that's what the prices were, but I guess they were "ended" listings, not sold.

My roommate said we're both assholes, but he would have replied the same way I did. :D

You're not just an asshole, you're a complete dumbass. eBay staff can read your messages. If the buyer reports you for attempting to make a sale outside of eBay, paid via PayPal F&F, and they find the proof in your messages, both of your eBay and PP accounts could be suspended.

Dumbass.

I would respond with, "you know what, you're right...I'll gladly accept $20, send a new offer again"

Then deny it, say, lol jk. And he won't be able to do anything but a BIN then.

I knew that, but figured they wouldn't have a reason to check the messages unless there was an issue. I wonder if they'd suspend us both or just me. eBay is pretty buyer-centric, they might give him a pass.

If the other guy reports and/or eBay investigates, just tell them that your roommate (who may or may not be your brother) hacked your account.

It's pointless trying to discuss anything with anyone on Ebay.   Everyone is a self centered prick.  Turn off "take best offers" on all your auctions because it just leads to misery.  People will still make offers over the message system anyways.

This X100.

Never have best offer up. And never engage anyone that tries to haggle with you in PM. I was going through my old storage unit stuff and found a still sealed borderlands 2 GOTY guide in it. Going rate on amazon was over 200 bucks, and ebay didn't have any listed. I put it up for 140 and said "amazon rate is this, not gonna be a total greedy man and go all out, but want to at least not screw myself out of money on it".

Guy proceeded to blast me by PM on there about how I was trying to rip him off at that price, and I should feel bad for doing it, yadda yadda. I ended up blocking him from all bidding to me, and cussing me. I don't have time for anyones bullshit on there, and if they don't like it, they can look at another offer somewhere else.

So I somehow ended up getting two of those Shady/Not-Shady (who knows) G2A Monthly bundles. Just ask for a refund from G2A you say? :speaktothehand: No thanks, I'd rather not waste my time for a few dollars with shady customer service.

Anyway, I have all 5 games (Lords Of The Fallen Digital Deluxe, DiRT 3 Complete Edition (x2), SUPERHOT, Syberia (x2), and Syberia II (x2) ) and thought it would be better to just give them away here rather than to random lurkers. So if you'd like one of the games PM me. Only requirement being you're a thread regular and have liked one of my posts on CAG within the past 12 months. Any new likes as of this post obviously don't count :shame: . I'll cross out the games if they've been taken.

I use best offer on my stuff, but I set up auto-decline on amounts lower than the lowest I'd take for something and auto-accept higher than that.

Why not just list at the lowest?  Because, for me, most of the time someone jumps on the BIN price without trying to haggle.

That's probably the way to go. But honestly I think I'll just avoid Best Offer in the future.

I'm done with this listing, I feel like it's now tainted in a karmic sense. I'll try to find a nice Nintendo collector to give them away to.

Bundleshartz hasn't been doing it for me since December. Hopefully we see a decent NEW bundle instead of a bunch of repeats.

So i'm guessing a new Killer Bundle...a new bundle of some game bundling it and all its DLC (I'm guessing an expensive Warhammer Total War Bundle) and repeat-a-palloza.
