Manager at my local store made me put the full value down on a game in order to get the bonus. He has been the only one to do that out of the 7+ employees I've interacted with since the beginning of this promo. Not only that, but I had a pre-existing pre-order already set up at that store and he said he couldn't find it in the system. Asked him why I couldn't just put $5 down and he was like "well I can't just let you put $5 down, and walk out with a the bonus". Dude is usually a prick, and I'm 95% sure he lied to me about the Gwent dlc being out of stock and also told me the $5 trade coupon can't be stacked on top of the bonus during one of the previous promos. Want to leave bad feedback, but not sure if worth it.

Nuke his COL from orbit.

The game is on the list, but the website says the price is 31.99 after GCU. Unless you're looking at the double pack, which trades in for $16 after bonus.
is that double pack 2 discs? its in stock locally, and just pacific carriers only trades in for $15 base. vietnam is at $12 base.

edit: looks like both games on one disc

I got an asshole like that too except he wouldn't let even let me put any extra on my trade card. Had to remove $260 worth of trades just so I don't get any trade credit beyond my purchases. I hit up 7 GameStops, he was the only asshole. I was quite happy that his store got shut down only to find out he got transferred to the nice store nearby. Smh.

He was also eyeing some customers like they were going to steal crap, made me wait for him to do my order even though there was another register that took like 8 orders while I waited. And while doing my order he was constantly on his phone. Frankly I think he put my info on the computer and then took a picture of it to keep a record of it.

Oh yeah here's the kicker, he threatened to ban me from his store if I didn't put the extra credit towards something.

I can't believe employees care enough to do this kind of stuff. If it wasn't breaking official GameStop policy I would not give a fuck.

This is just complete and utter bullshit.. there are times I've pissed off a manager/worker when they've tried to pull this shit, even going as far as to ask to see such a policy in writing.

Oh, and if ANY store tries to "Circle of LIfe" bullshit and claim a game is not instock when it is so they can sell you used or digital version.. call them on it.

By FTC law, it is illegal to lie about stock to sell another product.

According to Part 2 (II. ENFORCEMENT AUTHORITY), Section A (A. Consumer Protection) of the FTC laws
"It's illegal to make false claims about a product, such as 'It's out of stock' when it's not or that a clearance product has a certain markup."

Basically, when an Gamestop employee lies about a game not being in stock when it is.. it's illegal according the the U.S. FTC. A similar case happened in 2009 at Office Depot where they would lie about stock to push other products, much like how Gamestop is pushing used and other items. The FTC stepped in and that was their ruling.

Look up "A Brief Overview of the Federal Trade Commission's Investigative and Law Enforcement Authority"

brought in a stack of games to trade and the flustered cashier accidentally scanned the same game twice. i had a huge moment of moral dilemma on whether to tell him about his mistake or not.

what would y'all have done?
Every time something like that happens and I point it out, it has worked out well. Employees usually get in trouble for that stuff so when you help them out and clearly lose out on money you earn some "not sketchy crackhead" points. I've been given discounts, free stuff, and, if a usual customer, they now see you as reliable. Jr Detective deactivated!

Yep, if they take multiple of the same game in the same transaction.. they can be fired.

I had a friend who wanted to quit Gamestop back in Ypsilanti, so he did a transaction he knew would get him fired due to corporate policy.

Edit, ignore me I just realized you can put it towards a switch game and not the actual console

So have about $340 in trade credit . Should I renew my account to get coupon or will I be caught if I trade in games that I buy ?
I just did this: go to the sheets and buy as many games under boomerang as you can. Trade in those games back to a differentbgame stop and put $5 toward a switch game or accessory. Watch the credit roll in and the employees eyes roll back into their heads. I boomerranged $290 to $330. As I drove to the game stops near home and work. Not a huge gain but still fun.

Whoa. So many laws being broken there.

Never had that level of GS employee before. Had such a good experience with the employees today I preordered something I wasn't even planning on getting. I am actually getting a Switch so am preordering stuff I will keep. Saves the hassle of cancels and all that.

How long does it take to get the money back on your credit card after returning an online order in store?

returned some funkos early sunday, girl said they didn't have the cash. I asked if it could just go back to my credit card, seemed like it was her first time doing it. Anyway in the app the points for the purchase were taken away a couple days later and been checking for the refund every day since and still nothing.

Rainbow Six Siege has to be the GOAT flip or something - it's been $16 GCU multiple times at Best Buy, and pretty cheap on Amazon occasionally, and trades for $36 with bonuses now. Going to buy a few extra to keep aside when it comes on sale next.

Well a cashier just made a mistake on my return/rebuy. She entered the wrong return price and I got less money. Maybe I should just return them first and do a separate transaction to make it less complicated. Is there any way to fix it?

My brother got like $20 from some boomerangs today. He also said someone came in to buy two new PS4 systems and an Xbox and he said the employees went in the back and argued who should take the hit lol.

The game has legs, they actually reached a new peak on the free weekend also, plus year 2 support!? Yeah that's smart to grab them while their cheap

Depends on how big the error is. If it's a few bucks, just accept the hit. I'm not sure why she is typing in a price though? You would think the POS would calculate everything automatically.

I traded in my Lunar white controller and a brand new fire emblem conquest with the $5 coupon towards BotW. Still at the the same store, I traded in shadow of Mordor and tried using the coupon again but the associate refused saying that he won't do it again. I didn't press him on it because I don't want to be flagged. I have PS3 and 360 games in trying to unload. Any suggestions on using the $5 coupon and trading in PS3/360 games?

If it's your local store, be more careful since you have to go there more often. Just get the game later on and return or cancel when he's not around.

Leave the survey alone since it will expose your behavior to the DM and then they may look deeper.

It was from an online order. I know better to do separate transactions when doing a return/rebuy from now on. The tax from the return wasn't returned either which was strange.

Noob question here. I see there is a promotion for trading in games and accessories towards a switch game or accessory. Can I trade something in, say it's for the switch accessory/game but change my mind and use it for something else in the store without losing the promo credit?

Can you use a buy 2 get one free coupon together with a $5 reward certificate? A cashier tried to do it, but she claimed it applied the discount to the free game. She also said that they don't throw away DS cases, so I'm not sure if I should have trusted her judgement. I used it on another game though, and it only cost ~$2 with $5 certificate.
The system may end up wasting your coupon by bringing down the value of a game until it becomes the free one.

I just tried it myself and saw $55 in coupons end up as $15 off so I just told them to remove the coupons except for the B2G1. I went to another store and flipped them for an easy $80. Then stopped by another store and used the coupons there. After I made a last stop and dumped the games from the 3rd store for a total come up of about $200. That's all on the way home from work. Paid off the Pikachu 3DS and ended up with about $20 more than I started the day with.

Everyone was happy with my trades and with my preowned purchases.

Funny thing is I just stood at the register with the spreadsheet on my phone and asked them for every game on the list until I hit 12 games in total.

Thanks Blackbeard. You make this too easy.

Just don't do it in the same visit. Come back later and move the preorder to something else you want.

Anyone know what tomorrow's Pokémon day is all about? Normally I wouldn't care but I'm shopping in a plaza with a different Gamestop and I'll be stopping in to check their vita inventory...

The site is extremely vague and until I used a link from the app just linked to a store map in Dallas (lol no joke).

I don't expect much (anything) but I'm wondering if anyone knows what it is. Maybe there's a secret code word to get an irl Pikachu right!?

It is the closest store, and the other employees are fine, so I'll probably just walk back out next time I see him and come back another time or just go to another store.

Brb...

So, I can just tell them I don't want that preorder anymore and instead use it towards a PSN card without losing the bonus? I wonder why their system wouldn't just automatically deduct the bonus when the preorder is revoked?

Anyone who has the :ps3: CoD Black Ops Collection 1-3, don't trade it w/that slipcover in for $24. Trade the Combo 1-2 Pack in for $16.5+7.5=$24 and trade III in for $13.2+6=$19.20 after the 50% bonus...the barcode w/all 3 games is still neglecting the trade in value of BO3 btw, so u get $43.2 trading in separately instead of $24

Ok never done any flipping longtime lurker not sure if my math will be right.
So if I get used Paper Mario color splash at $49.49 and Pokémon sun $33.19 at local GS, I can get Pokémon moon used free, go to next GS trade those three in and order a Switch accessory Mario splash is base $33 + $16.50 promo + $4.95 pur $54.45 flip, Pokémon $24.75+$12.37+$3.71 $40.84 flip for each copy gets me a total of $136.13 on $82.68 investment of the three games? And if they honor the $5 trade card I have on each game it would be $151.13, not sure if math is right.

Black ops collection? Trying to find that and don't see it

Oh wait I see it. Was the 1-3 collection a GameStop exclusive? That might be a good boomerang. Buy 3 in the collection for 30 bucks new or used sell it back to them separately for 40. lol

Both the 50% extra trade in on Switch games/ accessories & the $5 extra trade in credit bonus card expire on Sunday right? But the stealth bump goes to Monday right? Just making sure the dates are correct for my plans lol.

And the Gwent list is current right? I wanna try to get one on Sunday....would be the 1st pack for me

Base*1.6

Example: DB XenoVerse 2 has a base trade in value of $20, so you would get $32 after the switch game/accessory bonus.

I just renewed my first PUR and have the b2g1 used. Does that apply for multiples in store too? I know it will online but I'm thinking of buying 9 (get 3 free?) and flipping boomeranging them back to GS at another store.

wouldn't that be a good flip, then? It's sold new for $29.99. If you trade as you suggested, you get $43.20.
