It has an old school Doom vibe to it. I had no issues with the game play. Sophomoric humor. Great game IMO. I got it for $5.40 on PSN. Don't think it has been that cheap on live but under $10 seems like a great price for this game.

They raised the price at some point, because my order that shipped today had it at $9.99

But, yes, that is a correct listing. Bundles free with the game or separately for now $20. (better than some of them that were priced as $50)

Mass Effect is a very popular series that has set a high standard for itself, a score in the 70's is very disappointing

Seems a lot of the sub-8 scores refer to performance issues. Hoping they'll get smoothed out with a patch or two (with the acknowledgement of how much I hate that aspect of the industry now). Destructoid's review basically says they avoid source material to a fault in an effort to be its own thing.

In a way it's kind of a bummer that the new game will be compared to strongly to the first 3 games, but it's completely inevitable. I guess either way, we'll always have the Citadel.

I don't have the time to invest in it right now anyway, but with these reviews I'm happy waiting for a sale, $40 sounds right.

Got it. Thanks y'all. That makes perfect sense why they'd run it that way. I was ready to get in on that if it was an error even though I'd only played ME1. Oh well. By the time I finish ME2 and ME3, the game will probably be around $20 anyways. Or even better, in the Vault.

The people that are whining and bitching about dumping their pre-orders seem, by the most part, people jumping into ME without any past dealings with ME1 - ME3.  There's another group that were lukewarm into the ME universe and they're waffling to not keep pre-orders since it's not worth the money out of the gate.

I've paid full price for ME1 (GS exclusive CE), ME2 (CE), ME3 (CE), plus all the DLCs at full price and I don't regret any of it.   Some it has been better than others, though ME1 came out as a pretty wart-covered game in the infancy in the 360 life cycle.  I loved it all the same, with some patches helping some, though it still had a number of warts even with all the patches.

We'll have at least one patch, if not two, pretty close out of the gate, if I had to guess.  I'll play ME: A all the same and enjoy it all the same.  DA: I had some grindy moments, though the main set pieces more than made up for it in my mind.   Some people will change their opinions once we get a patch or two out there.   Others will just stick to MP and grind the hell out of that for a while. 

If you want to take a shot it at it, go use EA Access and take the 10 hour trail.  It'll give you some idea of the gameplay and it'll cost you nothing more than EA Access, if you don't already have it. 

 
Yeah I listened to a few podcasters talk about GR: Wildlands and how it doesn't cast the best light going all america fuck yeah in Bolivia... Umm, what? Like I care if it's fucking PC. From the Beta alone I had a fucking blast, syncing up sniper shots or coordinating tactics with strangers as a Ghost team was hella fun. Jumping out of a helicopter and parachuting into a base was badass. fuck, that game is also just amazingly large and the amount that people don't give a f because it casts Bolivia in a bad light is asinine to me. Also I get why Zelda got perfect scores, but after playing it I just don't understand. As someone who's played all near but one Zelda title, Breath of the Wild is good, not great as everyone says (it took them long enough to catch up to modern day gaming). I don't like reviewers anymore, they'll all twitter echo chambers it seems. I think I'm officially getting too old for this shit.

I'm one who played the trial for Andromeda and still am looking forward to my pre-order (integrating multiplayer with strike teams, makes sense now more than it did in ME3 and I think this cohesion of multiplayer and single player should be one of the big pluses for Andromeda). I had a bunch of Amazon GCs along with my order, so it's not such a huge investment, but yeah I'm also getting the SB from BB because i had ordered it when it was $9.99 too. There's been a ton of games that have had mixed reviews which I've loved and a few games that all said were all mighty perfect which I thought were decent or just plain good. Eeh, subjective medium is subjective. Everyone hating on EA is also so cliche, I mean I grabbed EA Access this month to play the trial early but also fooled around with the vault and I noticed how many of those games I already have (Pvz, BF, FIFA, MEs, NHL, Peggle 2). So I like a lot of EA games, fuck me right?

I'm Latin American (though not Bolivian) and don't have the slightest problem with how GR Wildlands goes all "America fuck Yeah in Bolivia". Besides, as much as the Bolivian government wants to deny it, the cartels have been running things roughshod down there for several years.

Hell, when Metal Gear Peace Walker set the game in Costa Rica, my country, I didn't have an issue with the Americans running secret/covert ops in the mid 1970's to fight Sandinistas and the KGB because that really happened (though it was after the Sandinistas seized power in Nicaragua in 1979. There are still a few abandoned bases the Reagan-endorsed "contras" used near the Nicaraguan border up north). Though a TV channel here ran a story about the game and how it portrayed the country and our then President in a negative light for allowing nuclear weapons to have been secretly smuggled into our territory.

In other matters, my first and perhaps only re-up in Gears 4 set for tonight and......maybe something else.

75 is not a bad score for most games. For Mass Effect, it is a very bad score. It is a shame that EA has slowly brought the franchise down. It reached its peak at 2. Making 3 with so little time and then this one with so little of the original talent was a mistake. There is a reason why we saw so little of the game over the last 2-3 years.

 
Was able to cancel my Andromeda digital pre-order thru Xbox chat. I love the ME series but the ME:A trial just didn't impress me. I'll subscribe to EA Access whenever this hits that. I have backlog I want to complete first and rather use the funds on more than one game right now.
 
Mass Effect: Andromeda APEX HQ is live, it's the companion app for the game allowing you to check on your strike teams and look over stuff like your loadouts, stats, leaderboards and unlocks.

Amidst all the cancelation preorders for ME:A, I wanted to toss out I'll be getting it tomorrow after deciding not to months ago. A $15 gift card that just arrived in my inbox to Best Buy + another $5 one and GCU will knock it down to $28 Day One. I'll take that considering Mass Effect is one of my favorite trilogies. Haven't even played the trial but eh, I'm in like flynn

It's funny in a sad way when those people take videogames too seriously. GR:W is a game that is trying to ground itself in the real world, so it obviously has to pick a real world location and situation that is somewhat believable. If it wasn't Bolivia, it would've been some other country and people would still spew the same complaints. The cleanest way to avoid such comments is for developers to make up a fictional country in an alternate universe, but then it wouldn't be grounded in reality which would take away from the whole atmosphere of the game.

I feel like people that make those comments are deliberately looking for socio-political points where there doesn't necessarily have to be one.

My ME:A order shipped. Hopefully it gets here tomorrow. Have avoided reading or hearing anything as best I could. Not surprised by the complaints on the character models and animations. It was something I had noticed already when the trailers first came out.

Mass Effect 1 & 2 were amazing games and even 3 was really good.  I've played through all 3 games 3+ times,  bought every ME game at least twice (regular edition and Collector's Edition), sunk hundreds of hours into them,  unlocked every single achievement and bought all the DLC and I just can't find it in me to give a fuck about Andromeda. Every trailer and preview I've seen does nothing to excite me and I felt almost compelled to buy it on Tuesday just because of the original Trilogy.

Also, the conversation with Sovereign in ME1 is the single greatest moment in the entire series.

I'd do the same if I could get it that low. My thoughts on ME:A are basically same as how I felt before I saw The Force Awakens. Unlikely to live up to the original trilogy but as long as they don't make it a complete trainwreck, I'm very interested in revisiting said universe and doubt I'll hate it even if its less good.

 
How are The Division's DLCs? 30€ is still A LOT (the game+DLC bundle is 36! ffs) and I haven't played in a lot as I was a lone player, wondering whetever it's good or not.

I picked up The Division, had a disc copy but no DLC. I really want to try out the survival mode, seems like a lot of fun. Normally $15 for that and I can get $9 for the disc at Gamestop brings it to $24, so another $12 for the rest didn't seem bad.

I want to play Last Stand so bad but I can't until I'm lvl 30. I heard Survival and the Underground are fun for a minute but the grind gets unbearable for some.
 
Even a huge ME fan such as myself was disappointed with the single player trial of Andromeda. It's not bad exactly, just incredibly underwhelming and flat. I also feel like they tried too hard to avoid source material just to be different. Having said that, the Multiplayer was chaos and a blast. I'm in just for that even if the campaign is a total bust.

I would agree...it's still a favorable score and it really seems that the days of 90+ averages for AAA sequels is mostly over. Sure, there are exceptions but for the most part those days are gone.

I feel like you already know whether you'll like the game, anyway. Want to go around space recruiting a squad? Talk to them for hours and do missions to make them love you? Rub your naughty parts against exotic aliens? Don't mind slightly wonky third person shooting? You'll dig it.

Maybe the scores we've seen lately are a sign that reviewers are starting to actually rate games on a full scale instead of from 8-10. But the top score this year is an 86 for RE 7, which was almost universally loved. There wasn't a next gen exclusive big budget game that scored above 90 before Witcher 3, which only squeaked by with a 91. Remember the days of GTA 4 getting tons of perfect scores? Lol

The only problem I have had in the trial (as an impatient person) is the cut scenes between traveling to different planets. I would rather be in control of the ship (ME2) than watch the same cutscene over and over again.

I think LoZ:BoTW may have had a hand in this when Andromeda you don't really have to explore, you will get mission markers (from what I have read.)

Here's the thing, it's not a cutscene. It's a 3D world, galaxy in this case, that you're moving around in and it feels pretty immersive as a result. I found it relaxing just traveling around.

Downloaded and browsed through the APEX HQ app and am quite impressed with what you can do in it. It's super efficient to get your characters up to speed before you jump into the battle. This is good because often times you'll be able to join an ongoing mission and you'll want to have your dude/dudet all ready to go to get in as soon as you can. Also I tried to debrief my strike teams but it doesn't let you, or I couldn't figure out how to, so it just let's you check up on their duration for said mission.

This is technically incorrect. The original trilogy was all made by Bioware Edmonton, Andromeda uses all three Bioware studios (Austin, Edmonton and Montreal).

I feel review scores are a bit BS these days (and probably have been forever). Seems if a game gets less than an 8, it makes the game automatically bad. Sure, I've played my fair amount of shit games,but I wouldn't consider a game 'bad' unless it get something like a 3 or 4 out of 10. Heck, I don't even bother with written reviews much anymore and prefer to go off either word of mouth, or if that's not available, I'll check out some video reviews. While I may heed to some degree what the person may be saying, I try to pay attention more to the content of the video itself and see how the game appears to play.

I'd be lying if the idea of Dead Rising mini golf doesn't sound awesome. Loved the wacky settings of some previous Dead Rising DLC and sounds like a good time to get the wolfpac back together.

Yeah people talk about that happening and I intentionally let my Gold get down and it never popped. Got the $1 deal a few days later.
