Guess I'm the only one who read the OP. Person went in knowing the promo was over, it wasn't an honest question. Good to know many will brook no criticism of their fellow CAGs.
I am not looking to have a fight or draw this out but I know I did nothing wrong. I knew the promo was over but I saw no harm in asking if the promo was still valid since I saw the sign up. If he said the promo was over I would have moved on to RIME and done my trade that way. He was really nice about the whole thing and even thanked me for pointing it out so that they could remove it before more people saw the sign. I am just not sure why you feel so strongly about it but to each their own.

Nah, you did nothing wrong, but I'd leave out the specifics of what he did on the survey, just in case he might get some bad feedback from management.

my fifth copies trade didnt complete because i was banned. i just want to know if the ban activates immediately when they type my id#.

I traded 1 copies each on 4/28 and 4/29, 2 copies 4/30 and 2 copies 5/28. it should have even out. i didn't trade 5 copies in the time span. if you said 4/29 to 5/28 is 30 day period then my 2 copies from 4/30 should clear out today as well.
Idk what you're even trying to say dude since you've changed your story like 3 times

All I can say is keep better track of your trades and learn how many days are in each month

I think at this point, it's clear they either didn't track everything correctly, or something else triggered the ban, like the 2k limit was breached. Or we're just seeing a rare occurrence of a manual ban.

I am just not sure why you feel so strongly about it but to each their own.
Cool. Not sure what it is about my phrasing or word choice, but people keep attributing to my post anger, excess emotion, etc. Not sure why discrediting others' emotions is such a popular argument tactic. I spoke ill of your ethics, and since I have an abundance of free time this holiday (I highly recommend the 12 Monkeys TV show, if you enjoy time travel stories. The new season was excellent), of course I'll respond to my attackers.

Is 'dick move' really such a major insult? I figured it was like a 2-3 on a scale of 5, made all the more minor by its subject matter.

Spoiler for my interactions with dumb guy at GS so as not to completely clog the thread
Saw some poor SOB and his wife trade in a new 3dsxl, probably 10 3ds games(saw at least one Legend of Zelda game in there), a Wii U with at minimum 15 games, and no bonuses. I never mention stuff to people in Gamestop but I guess I was feeling stupid/friendly because I casually mentioned how reserving Rime for the Switch(which they were trading in to get a console but the GS employee explained nope, have to buy the bundle online) would net them much more than not getting it.

Of course the guy looks at me like I have three heads and declines saying he doesn't "want to mess with anything complicated." The employee even chimed in and told him it's like paying 39.99 to get an extra two hundred dollars. The dude pretty well shut down at that point and the employee went back to scanning his titles after an awkward 10 second silent pause.

I know, people don't want to be helped and I shouldn't even bother so I have no idea what possessed me today. The funny thing is this is the one store I know of that is completely cool with anything, I got a $500 amazon card today and the guy didn't even bat an eye.
Kind of reminds me of when I worked at Game Crazy (yes, I'm old) and later on GameStop when people would trade in hundreds of dollars worth of games and not have the membership card. We'd explain to them that they would get it free and even more on their trades + a magazine and they could save on used games and they would refuse. We already have their information for the account that they are trading into, so why not get a bonus? I will never understand. It didn't happen all the time, but it happened enough.

I used to know the manager of Electronics Boutique in our local mall and Babbages at one point so don't worry I'm not exactly a spring chicken myself.

I wish I could read posts from people like that outlining their reasoning. I'd love to hear the range of grounded reasons people say no to this stuff.

so next month, would the stealth bump be weekend starting June 23rd or June 30th?
March lined up the same way, so we can look to what happened then for guidance.

Edit: March 31 started a stealth bump weekend, so it should be June 30.

Well thought I was done but had to go back to trade in my Witcher 3 since I got the Complete edition at BB earlier today. Went ahead and did my 3rd NBA2k17 PS3 (also did 3 360s so far this weekend) and traded in my ESO Tamriel Unlimited all for ESO Morrowind.

All in all, I'm sitting on 4 paid off preorders, a copy of Guardians of the Galaxy (which after the first episode seems to be a great Telltale game), upgraded my Witcher 3, bought a bunch of toys and shirts for my kid, and have about $950 in credit left over.

Time to rest up for next month!

Everyone wondering about nba2k holding steady. Titles usually drop after the season ends and we will have e3 done and over by then. If nba continues to come to ps3 and 360, prices should drop. If they don't, they will likely stay high. Just a theory.

Hell I'm so old I remember the Gamestop at the one mall here use to be an independent (or maybe local chain) called Games and Gadgets (it use to carry PC and Atari) then was EB around 90 until about 05 when Gamestop took over everything.

LMAO, had a GS employee (who I really have come to dislike) call me out today. Bought 9 3ds games and he said "didn't you trade in these games during the last promo". Just told him yeah and that I may as well rebuy them since I had the B2G1 coupon. I'm pretty sure he's on to me flipping games, while none of the other stores/employees seem to care. This guy mentions him being a store manager pretty much every time I'm in there though, so it's par for the course. Last time I did a trade run was back in February I think, so it's been almost 4 months since I traded anything in.

I hope you get the cheapest treatment.

The store I just came from was out of copies of Rime for both systems, so I was forced to preorder the Switch version. :violinsmiley:

Turned ~$300 initial credit into $1360 this weekend. Only spend $35 on 2 NBAs. Made all my money back after funding my upcoming Cali trip from the last stealth bump, It feels good to be a CAG.

They remembered you from 4 months ago?! <I'm not even mad.gif>

So traded in some more flips and bought 3x $20 dominos gift cards but this time the system did not automatically discount the $15 gamestop gift card I added (neither to $10 or $0) nor did it discount the dominos gift cards by $5. Not much to do other than accept the loss as I do not want them to look into my account. Would not have bought the dominos gift cards otherwise but I guess I will have pizza this week.

Pretty sure you put $5 on each separate GS GC and then it'll trigger.

It's a pride/ego thing. They are embarrassed and just want to get out of the situation ASAP. Or at least I'm referring to when a non employee points it out.

Is anyone else waiting for GS to add one more game to the Playlist titles or is it just me? I would love to get Horizon Zero Dawn but I either own the other games on the list or I have zero interest.

Nick is correct, you have to do each gift card separately.

I would imagine it stems from a history of being burned by the fine print and general shady business practices by anything from email spam to car sales to insurance coverage.

There is a reason the proverb "If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is" exists.

To some people, the idea of spending money preordering a game to somehow get more money in return is the equivalent of the One Weird Trick internet ad.

It's a gorgeous game. Looks like a Zelda Windwaker. Only put about an hour into it. Puzzles using the environment and a bit of tomb raider style platforming. I like it.
Which is why I was bummed they didn't have any copies of the game for :xb1: when I did my trade. I rarely want to legit play one of the games in their promos.

You want me to get banned from all GameStop because a jr detective remembers me from trading games in. Stop acting like a melodramatic little girl.

Yeah, last time I traded anything in was before the switch came out, specifically the "preorder any switch game accessory/game and get 60%" bonus. So probably early to mid February. I always did like 5-6 games at a time too, never abused the $5 coupon, never even attempted to trade in duplicates in one transactions, spread out my trades across the 6 stores in my area, etc. so I'm not real sure why he remembers me.

Yeah, I feel ya. I woke up today and looked at a stream of the game and said, why not? So I went into the store and swapped my Switch preorder into an Xbox version. No regrets. Sounds great on the soundbar too. Don't have to worry about kids hearing cussing as there is no dialogue that I've discovered as yet.

The kid yells and hums to trigger things. Definitely not the usual Xbox game. Feels like it's a Playstation game.

Lady told me yesterday when I took some Nike one's up that they were not going together - that I'd have to grab a GS GC for each Nike GC i was buying so it worked effectively.

With the Uber promo, you could put it all on one GS card

What is the EXACT limit for a trade card? Is it $999.99, or $1000.00? (for the FAQ)
My understanding is it is $1000.00, but have no empirical evidence beyond going over the amount and loading a second card instead.

It would probably require purchasing a very specific amount on a variable gift card prior or during a trade, but that has the potential of drawing unwanted attention.

On friday it worked fine doing one $75 nike gift card and a $15 GS giftcard. I think the issue is probably either set value cards (instead of the ones that you can load any amount between $5-$500 on) need separate $5 GS gift cards or the system had not been updated with the new promo.

But now I know and hopefully a couple others now know to so that they can avoid it.

Feel free to CC me on that.

It's $1000. I remember I got one up to that amount when they were doing the 50% bonus on everything summer coupon a couple years ago. The manager tried to put more than $1000 on and it wouldn't work. He ended up selling me a giftcard on the same transaction to get the trade credit to an even $1000.
