Ultimate or Ulti-meht?

Guess I'll need to create a new topic in the next day or so.  Need to refactor how long I keep things in the OP and archive posts, since the site appears to have reduced the max character count in posts.  Used to be over 100k, I thought it was 150k, but I couldn't update the OP the other night.  Seems the max is now around 80k characters.  Can't even submit an unmodified change to the OP (~108k characters) without getting a CONTENT_TOO_LONG error.

Do people care about having readily available what was in a sale more than a month ago?  The prior week?  Would people be fine if the "archive" was links to Major Nelson's blog posts, or searching StoreParser?  Past Games with Gold list a link to Wikipedia?

 
Are there usually daily sales with this summer sale? Because I'm not gonna be near my console for like half the sale. 

Also, my birthday falls right in the middle of the sale, so please Microsoft, give us some good sales  :pray:

If you feel like it, you could just save the first 3-5 posts in the new thread for deep archives. I figure if you've gone to the trouble of making it in the first place, why not keep it somewhere? Just don't worry about it being in the very first post. Unless what I'm suggesting is a lot more work than i think it is, in which case, I appreciate whatever effort you expend.

 
I say drop the new thread. I personally never even use the front page because I read the thread everyday. Most lurkers probably only care about current or last weeks sale plus the always free things.

I never really cared for having past sales in the OP. Also because of that, i'm not a fan of the deals with gold at the top and the rest of that weeks sales halfway down the page after previous sales and GwG. I just read your date night post though and don't really use the OP as much anymore.

Do not care about old sales. If your really into the deals you should be checking on date night or the day after. Old sales are old news.

Also think the old sales can go. If anyone really wanted to know something like price history they can always use Store Parser to check it. No need to clutter our OP.

Another "vote" for letting old sales go.  I try to view the sales for both PSN and Live every week.  Limited value in knowing something was cheaper 6 months ago.

Previous week's sales are handy for last minute grabs or to remind yourself "that was on sale last week not this week" kinda thing. Past that links to Major's post and storeparser seem more than adequate.

Previous GwG link to wiki sounds fine.

I do tend to check the OP if I'm late to date night so I don't have to search through 3-4 pages of people already moving on to off topic posts just to find the 360 sales, so know that some of us appreciate you!

I have the first 6 posts reserved in this topic for archives. Sometimes I'm lazy and just spoiler stuff in the OP until I feel like shifting it to a different post. But with the new character limit restrictions, and the quantity (if not quality) of recent sales, I'd probably need 8 posts for the current stuff that's there, and would probably need a dozen in a new topic for the next few months, which seems like overkill. It's why I wanted to know if people wanted the older stuff, or at least how much of it.

I can keep the DwG section to just having the current week visible and spoiler the small FAQ to reduce the need to scroll. I haven't kept up with checking when those early adopter sales end, though at least now they have countdowns, which I include in the list. Can move the early adopter section below the weekly special section.

Yeah, 12 posts does seem excessive. At this point, you could also link to the soon-to-be-archived OP, it'll be locked but it won't be deleted, yeah?

I fully support GWG at the top of the OP and having DWG / weekly deals listed together with just some slight specification of which is which. 99% of people here have gold anyway so for a bunch of nerds like we have here, it seems an arbitrary distinction most of the time. I refer back to the OP once in awhile during a good sale since I often debate or make decisions on the weekend since I am on such a tight budget right now, so to echo Brannigan, I too appreciate the effort, esp. since the official blog posts don't list prices, only percentages.

Oh jeez. This point can't be stressed enough. That is such a helpful service. Major Nelson and some other sites show just the %s which are meaningless without any context. 50% off what? $10? $60? And without knowing the $ value, how do I know if I can afford it or how it compares to another game price-wise?

When I see deals listed on other sites, I don't even bother until I see them posted here with $ values. Appreciate the extra effort, Bloomy!

Mine just seems to be sorted from most recently purchased first. Is there a sort option I am not seeing?

Also lame that they list demos as the full game. I played the COD Infinite Warefare demo. Looking at my list it looks like I own it. Same with Mass Effect Andromeda.

 
Relocated my 360 back to my entertainment center for future 360 deals. But I hope all sales will be available right away on the 30th since I'll be away by July 1st till the 11th. Other than that, if Wildlands & Injustice 2 are under $30, I may bite one.
 
Super excited for this sale as it's not split up where some games are one week and some games are the next.

Also, I'm going on vacation soon after where I can use the internet at the beach to download everything without counting against my shitty data cap! Woo-hoo!
 
I just bought a ton of stuff from the PS4 mid-year sale (recently bought a PSVR) as those sale prices are really good.
Hoping Larry's Mid Year Madness sale includes excellent prices too. I'd buy Prey digital at $30...
 
Don't do much of the online competitions so would the FH3 VIP pass still be worth it for me? I suppose the five cars and double prize wheel spins would be decent to have. Would never pay $20 for it but for $5, maybe?
 
There isn't much that I'll be tempted by. I guess if GR:WL is cheap, I'll buy it and sell my disc copy, since I got the gold edition from Target. Same with Mafia 3. Otherwise, I'm just too overloaded when I look at my games list. I have to actually play a few of them for a while until CoD:WW2.
 
Seeing the July Game Pass list made me feel a whole lot better about my Indy game sale splurge last week. I don't have to feel cheated that everything I just bought is now on Game Pass. I own most of the new games added, but bought them months ago, so that's reasonable.

I feel this way towards Mad Max. Moved the Game Pass games to the top of the backlog since I only got 3 T-Mobile free months and decided to get this one out of the way. I enjoyed the first couple hours but it's starting to get pretty repetitive and tedious to the point that its a little frustrating. Ill keep at it for a bit longer though in case it gets better. Doesn't help that there's weird amounts of gamerscore per achievement so now I at least need to continue until I even it back out.

Preach to the choir. Had to chop up my OP get things to fit to a certain degree while having the other half in the second post. It's ridiculous.

I'd say that you could get rid of the older stuff, move the tldr tips to another post, and combine some of the categories to make it flow together a bit better while conserving room. Nobody reads any OP anyway, so it doesn't really matter in the end. :fridge:

Those Ms official headsets are really nice but I went through two of em in a span of 2 years...the mic boom went out in both of them. The first one got cracks all along the area where the cups were attached to the head band and I got a protection plan on the 2nd one so I used the check I got for its value towards my xo seven pro. Best choice I ever made. You'd think a official Ms product would have decent build quality but my God that headset sucks ass minus its comfortability.

You sob, now I'm looking over all the shit I bought and it's still in my backlog. I gotta play the games I got in the Game Pass now lol.

Liked the June additions for Game Pass, always wanted to play a F1 title but never actually wanted to invest in one because I'd feel it'd get a little same-y after a while.
