Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Yeah wow, I can play Titanfall 2 at night when my internet speed goes back to normal. Wow, that was fun and frustrating. It was fun to get back into Titanfall combat again, I was in an urban setting a while ago when I got my OG Xbox One. That brought back fond memories but then it was squashed like me getting squashed by a G13 Titan. Seriously why the hell am I being matched up to that while I'm starting from 1... I'm up to lvl 5 now and was top 3 - also landed 20 hits with the charge cannon, sweet new gun skin - in the last attrition match. Not bad as I completely forgot all the controls when I started lol. It's almost 4:30 AM lol.

Oh and before that I must have been playing Rocket League for an hour before the playlist finally played the new Championship Field Arena. Won the game and achievement unlocked. New achievements, nice! Although I was freaking berated to trade from this one individual, even after I said I didn't want to trade. I just play to have fun and score goals. Oh man I gotta hit the hay... so tired.

Well, I live in Hawaii so I got it legit.
Well when you read a thread post about the achievements right after midnight, eff doing it legit and having to reset my internet connection/hard resetting, when I can just change my time zone. That was my only point since no guide mentions that.

Impressive?

Is it almost scary how good it is?

Give me your impressions while I go to sleep.
I love Revolution so far, about 35 hours in. Compared to FF13 let's see, it actually has a great story and cast, you even can get bonus cutscenes/lore about every playable/major character in the game and get to learn about their past and how they are outside of battle. The combat is super fun imo, and each character has a different weapon style which is cool. I like being able to upgrade each characters weapons individually and the different spells mean you can set characters up in so many different ways. The game is SUPER cutscene heavy though, like MGS heavy, but I don't mind I like the lore and the era they are going for. I honestly love it and I play a lot of RPG style games, I feel like a lot of the hate is because it's not like Chronicles, even though it is a spin off and they said it was it's own thing before hand.

Guess I try next year. Saw the post here but the day got away from me. Just read what you had to do. Our company had their 4th of July/summer BBQ yesterday. Held inside, it rained all morning and into the afternoon. They do raffles. You get a couple of tickets for showing up and more for participating in events/games. Won nothing with my two tickets. The bigger prizes everyone's name is in the hat.

I won a 39" Vizio TV. Wanted something to replace the 32" I have been using for the last year+. Wanted to go bigger but hadn't pulled the trigger. Had to buy a new TV stand. This will hold me for a while. At least the new stand is good for TVs up to 55".

I thought the combat has looked really bad, like Dynasty Warriors bad. Loved the combat in FF13 despite it's other issues

Anyone have any input on enter the gungeon, little nightmares or snake pass? Traded in some games with the game stop promo and after steep digital and breath of the wild season pass I have $15 xbox credit left. I'd save it to put towards a major fall release but I'm hoping for a visa checkout sale before then.
Little Nightmares is great, although short (about 4.5 hours for my first play through). It's similar to Limbo and Inside, very atmospheric and creepy visuals. I believe it has DLC coming soon as well.

Little Nightmares is fantastic. One of the creepiest games I've ever played.

The first of three DLC episodes came out on the 6th. You play as one of the boys in a cage from the start of the main game. It took me about an hour to play through.

The FFXIII stories are a mess. I don't think anyone but the guy in charge of the series had any idea what was going on, and even he seemed like he just made up a bunch of nonsense. The random endgame retcon and time travel of XIII-2 clearly came out of nowhere, and I highly doubt the massive timeskip for Lightning Returns was planned ahead of time. The gameplay and art direction are what really hold those game together. In the first game I don't see how you can like any of the characters aside from Sazh and maybe Fang and Vanille. They did better in XIII-2 with Serah and the supporting cast, a lot of people seem to dislike Noel but I thought he was alright. I barely remember the story beats of LR but I Lightning herself was a more fleshed out at least.

On the LOTR talk, I read about halfway through The Fellowship of the Ring and just could not get into it. It was just too slow for my tastes, or maybe I wasn't into the writing style of Tolkien. As for the movies, I kept intending to watch the extend versions of the movies but they're so long that it was hard to dedicate like 4 hours of time to one movie each. I jumped in on Hobbit when it launched since it was a prequel and thought the first was alright, but the second was not as good so I didn't rush to see the third.

Sega's been pushing it to Valkyria Chronicles fans, so of course they don't want something completely different.

This quote from this article summarizes my feelings on the FFXIII story perfectly:

I spent the first 20 hours of FFXIII not knowing what the fuck was going on or why the heroes were doing anything, thanks to the world’s worst collection of fantasy proper nouns (the “heroes” have been turned into L’Cie by a Fal’Cie and might turn into a Cie’th? fuck you).

Thanks. I'll probably pick it up in a fire sale (digitally of course, so could be awhile) but yeah from the reviews I read the best I've seen was a 6. I think I showed blinknot the reviews and he canceled his, or maybe he didn't lol.

I'm more mad at Sega for using this game as their excuse that people on X1 don't buy JRPGS if it fails. People who even glance at the reviews are not gonna drop MSRP on the game. My favorite RPG of all time, Suikoden 2, only has a 80% on gamerankings which proves reviews don't mean everything, but still.

+1 for Suikoden 2. I love that game.

So, Andromeda is definitely good, but the scope of the game and the number of sidequests is a tad overwhelming. It's a game you're going to play for a minimum of 2-3 hours when you turn it on, but that can easily turn into 6-8 if you aren't careful. I see myself having to play other things (or take a complete break and go read a book) in order to keep enjoying it vs getting burned out on it.

Also, the Angara just feel like a blue humanoid version of Mufasa clones from the Lion King.

It's the opposite for me. It never captivated me. I hate walking around the ship to talk to the other people. It's a pain. I do like the missions and side quests though. The character movement is really janky too.

Anyone can comment on The Surge it's supposed to be a souls like game and I enjoy the challenge that dark souls brings.
From earlier:

Picked up The Surge as part of that B2G1 sale at GameStop with the credit boost. Have to say I’m really liking it so far. The whole Dark Souls type game in a sci-fi setting is pretty awesome. Like the added body part targeting aspect and good feeling to the combat (improved from Lords of the Fallen).

Just the setting, upgrade system through “cores”’ and crafting is refreshing in this type of game. Can’t comment on the story much yet, but after feeling underwhelmed by Prey and Mass Effect Andromeda (yes, I know there are others that like it), I just am excited to hopefully have a decent sci-fi game in my rotation.
I’d say the combat is the real highlight so far. You need to use the left stick to target body parts that have less armor / weaknesses. It also can make a difference in what kind of scraps (sort of the equivalent of souls) you get after defeating them. Also can determine if you can get a snazzy finishing move on them.

Combat is all melee (again, so far at least) like Souls games with some pretty cool weapons.

I never got burned out of my 100 or so hours of Andromeda. Game was great, but I am sad to see no single player DLC :(

New Valkyrie game is ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I still ordered the collectors edition to support it. The battle system is pretty meh and not very strategic. What really kills it for me is there is such a long pause between the interesting parts. The storytelling is good, but I wish it were done more through missions and less through cut scenes. It's mostly just cut scenes. I am only 3 hours in, that could be the problem, but if you are 3 hours in a game and still trying to get to the game it's usually not a good sign.

Did these things bother you in ME1-3? Because those portions feel identical, almost to a fault. Those portions also make me a little impatient sometimes, but it's standard for the series. In fact, the previous games even had load times between floors of the ship, which made things even more tedious. At least the ship is fully loaded and accessible all at once here - although the necessity of the ladder drives me insane after awhile.

This. Same with Fallout. Im not here to hear your life story I want to shoot something lol

It's a more methodical Dark Souls game with the whole targeting mechanic for limbs as to whether you take out a weak spot or go for armored spots to get armor material to use later to upgrade or craft new pieces. The game also makes it more of a focus to learn your environments since it circles around it often throughout each area. A video I made if you want to see it in action.

If that is you, you sound REALLY distracted. :)

So torn on The Witcher 3 complete. Not the price really since it is more game than we deserve for $25 but rather I own it on the PS4 with my Dad (he bought it).  BUT,  I really prefer to play most multi-plats on the X1 since I am all about the achievements (hold your disdain please).  I heard it actually runs better on the X1 and with the X1X upgrade it is going to get I might do it just for that.

You told us two days ago (link) lol.
Yeah, but the code actually came in today and me and my bro were both able to redeem points for another without any issues. :bouncy:

When I posted, there was still issues for my bro's account. Since he didn't write a support ticket, I assume the issues are now fixed for everyone.

Ah gotcha... (I haven't been keeping up).

At launch the default fem Ryder has this weird resting grin. it was very jarring as she smiles while describing traumatic/serious events

Not sure if that was ever fixed

Wait, you guys don't create your own characters? I never use default characters in any game. My FemRyder looks a little off at sometimes but nothing like the default, who looks like she'll unhinge her jaw at any second and devour Liam whole.

You think you kind of understand the story, but you don't understand the story. No one actually understands the story. By the end of the game, you will be more confused than you were during the first disc.

So true. My wife and I just sat in disbelief watching the ending, which is totally batshit crazy and nonsensical.

Yeah, sounds like Dragon Age Inquisition. I got to a point with that game where I had to say eff the sidequests and just power through the story. Still haven't gone back to it for the DLC.

Achievement Unlocked: About fuck ing Time (100G) - Get through 3 hours of cutscenes and finally play the goddamn game

Any opinions on The Little Acre.  Looks like a chill adventure game with some nice visuals.  The easy achievements won't hurt either.

I've held off on starting the expansions just to wait for the One X, that said had no complaints about the visuals before up there with GTA V for me in open world visuals.

Yeah and I expect to play a few matches of Rocket League and instead play hours upon hours of Rocket League lol. I know what you mean but really with Mass Effect: Andromeda you can save at any time, well other than in combat, so you can stop at any time. There's just an immersive game there that makes you not want to do that. Also the consoles now and days have suspend so ultimately, just save/ or pause your game and suspend the console for use later on. That's how I believe my Xbox thinks I played Dragon Age: Inquisition for 300 hours lol. I'd play more Mass Effect but I'm using Game Pass this month so I want to play those while I'm paying for it first.

This is a funny response about a game tied around a squad and the relations you have with them. This is a highlight for many RPG gamers and Mass Effect fans, yeah it's been like that from the start (it's kind of a staple for the franchise). I haven't experienced any janky character movement but then again I'm probably numb to it since I've been exposed to it from day 1 of Mass Effect 1. I'm pretty sure they've addressed that with the updates the game's gotten since launch.

This. Same with Fallout. Im not here to hear your life story I want to shoot something lol
That's called a shooter, there's plenty of those out there for you to enjoy. Mass Effect is a Role-Playing game with shooting mechanics but emphasis on exploration, story and character development as well.

Yeah I went default Scott Ryder because I set up my character while taking advantage of that 10 hour trial through EA Access so I didn't want to take up time on that part (because we all know we can spend hours in the character creator alone). I'll customize my character the next playthrough. It really doesn't boil down to much difference when you have the same voice overs though. I always wonder why they don't add the option of using filters to change the voice and give your new created character a new perceived experience.

Thanks, I'll probably pick up little nightmares since I enjoyed limbo and loved inside. Snake pass looks interesting and a friend suggested enter the gungeon.

Thanks guys for the input on The Surge I will be picking it up after work today at gamestop for $50 via coupons and such.I know what I'm gonna be doing all day on Sunday Funday :)

I feel like if you have it for PS4 but you didn't actually pay for it, and you'd rather have it on X1 for achievement purposes, you have your answer. $25 is a steal for all of the content you get because that game is so fucking good. Worth every penny.

So I guess I'm a traitor now. Got my first PS console (my Vita and Vita TV don't count) since the PS2. Just couldn't resist paying ~$200 for a Pro especially when I could pay mostly with store credit.

You guys still love like tolerate me, right?

I have a PS4 and PSTV myself but am still drawn to my X1 and no offense to the PSN folks, but this is a much cooler and laid back thread that I consider my home here.

So as long as you stick with us, you’re good! ;)

I've had a PS4 for almost a year as of next month, but I still hang out here. :whistle2:
