Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel released on steam today.  Not really a cag-caliber deal.. but just posting in case there's anyone else here who wants to encourage more games from this series to be released.

I know the Humble thread turned into Headphone Roundtable but I am posting this here instead.  Also, I am having trouble sleeping and just zoning out to some Birthday Massacre so this is probably going to be a toaster-length post + comment.  
 
Newegg has the Phillips SHP9500s for $49.99 again for the next 24 hours and I liked my first pair enough that I bought a second pair to play around with. Getting some non-stock earpads + a 3d printed adapter to make them fit a bit snugger, still considering the freakish cup mod just for giggles but 30 bucks for something I'll probably toss aside is a bit much.  Mixed reviews on those, some say they add bass for days and give you an entirely different set of cans that can’t be replicated without dropping a few hundred, others just say it makes the sound a mess.  I admit I like the idea of having headphones that look that ridiculous though.
 
YMMV but I have tried several headphones lately and have found nothing else I like as well overall for under $300 (not counting sales).  
 
The soundstage is pretty good, I think they are good gaming headphones and you will definitely pick up footsteps/shot directions better than with any gaming headset that isn’t actually a re-purposed decent set of headphones in the first place.  I ADORE them with some of the music I have been playing, especially after setting up the Peace Gui with Equalizer APO and giving them a custom setting - and running them through my E17K.   They sound better than any of my earbuds straight from the iPod or my phone, but the dac/amp makes a bigger difference than I expected.  The EQ can fix the subbass unless you want to go big.  I do not care for the “shake the windows” bass that so many like in the first place so bass falling off or needing a bit of help is not much of a downside to me.
 
The real downside?  I had long since decided headphones just sucked compared to speakers and, well in many regards they do, but listening to my Panasonic earbuds I have bought on the cheap and used for years for yardwork/running/other rough-on-phones stuff is hard now.  I thought they were great for something you stick in your ear rather than fill an entire living room with.  No, they sound like crap.  The Fidelio L2 headphones are my now my go-to portables when I am not going to be worried about damaging them and are better for anything like EDM than the SHP9500s, but the 9500s do rock/jazz/vocal stuff better and are making me listen to more music at the computer because it is more comparable to the speakers (mostly Ascend Acoustics) hooked up to my receiver than any headphones I have ever owned.  
 
I swore I would ignore headphones and not do what I did with speakers but here we are.  
 
Sennheiser 598SR wasn't doing it for me with some of the music but I found them comfortable and for competitive gaming they were a bit better than the 9500s for sure.  Pricetag around $170 I think?  Might catch them around $100 at some point, hard to say.  I might actually pick up a pair myself for my primary gaming headphones if I see them cheap enough.  The SHP9500S do the job but now that I am down the rabbit hole I might as well keep going.   The best I heard for picking out footsteps/gunfire directions and range were the ATH-AD700X but I didn’t think they were comfortable and I didn’t like them at all for music.  I’ve seen them for less than $70 though, so arguably if you are wanting them SOLELY for FPS gaming, worth a look.  After doing some research into improving comfort on them, I have found that some FPS gamers swear by them because of the huge soundstage.  
 
Sennheiser HD 600 might be what I would buy if I could justify throwing $300+ at a pair of headphones right now.  No idea how they are for gaming but I was very impressed with comfort/sound when listening to music.   Except I liked certain higher vocal stuff better on the 9500s, Grace by Jeff Buckley as a random example.  I listened to some HD 800s on a stupid expensive amp setup and some Fostex something-or-others that were partially made out of cherry wood or something and apparently were blessed by aliens because they cost more than my entire computer setup.  I'll file both of those away for after I win the lottery.  I ignored headsets entirely because I just bought a freaking Yeti.  Anyway.  
 
PUBGbros, the Gamescom and other crates are now live. Cashed out my points for a few and made a quick ~$12 on the market. Makes up a little bit for missing out on the Twitch Prime thing.

I actually ordered those and the cheapo Fidelios and then they got delivered to the wrong address by Fedex, I had to open a claim with Newegg, they investigated, etc. So they should finally be getting here today. I'll let you know what I think of each when I get them.

Thanks for the heads up. Was able to make a quick $7 with my saved up BP. Have 950 left and I'll hopefully have enough to get one crate of each next week.

 
Also, if you hate modern FXAA/TAA techniques, a.k.a. Blur-O-Vision: Presented by Vaseline®, the LumaSharpen tool in Reshade works great with PUBG. I have it set to 3.0, didn't touch the other settings.

EDIT: Should have mentioned, you're meant to turn in-game AA on if you're going to do this. I have mine set to High.

Figures. Market will probably crash before I'm home from work. Oh well. Plus, this morning the modem decided that it needs to be reconfigured so I have that waiting for me tonight before I can get online.

They go for 1200 PP(?) or whatever they call the in game currency. I couldn't afford one, not that I was expecting to be able too.

Yeah, solo is where it's at for points. Top 10 finish will net you way more points than multiple squad top 10s.

Hmmm, weird. I saw some blue high top shoes going for $10 - are those drops from the regular crates?

Also, the black shirt with tie seems to be going for more and more. Up to .50 now. Might sell that one off soon.

I once almost bought that shirt thinking that black would be better than white. Then I realized that I've never actually thought "Hey, I see that guy because of his white shirt!" but I did change from my TGI Fridays Hostess Shirt to the gray t-shirt.

I'm torn on opening my wanderer and survivor crates or selling them now. What are the lows of what you can get? .03 and .05?

No, it can be. I bought a couple of the new crates just now and decided to open one of them and got a weird looking half grey/half white shirt and was able to sell it for close to $3, less than what the crate itself was going for but I decided to gamble. It was out of the Survivor Crate. I got a Gamescom crate too, but think Im just going to sit on it for a bit.

Are those in the Survivor crates or?

I hate this game....running around for 15 minutes to get one-shotted...suckz....I just want to sell my hot pants and call it a day...

Haha, this game. Well I cashed my BP out, I was sitting on 28k of currency so I ended up with three of each new crate type for now. I'll probably sell most of them off since prices on the free crates will likely drop over the coming weeks due to saturation. Then again you never know. It looks like you are limited to buying six of each crate type per week per account. With the doubling BP per crate each time you buy one you'd have to be playing a ton to hit the 5-6 crate mark per week. 

I currently sport the black shirt and tie, grey camo pants, sunglasses, and punk boots that I'm fine with at the moment. Maybe once the market settles I might look at new options just for fun if prices are reasonable.

This game... it's an addiction like no other. Best $22 I've spent this year in terms of the cost to fun ratio.

I haven't shared this with many people (especially my wife) but I had to tell someone that I made just under a grand reselling those Galaxy phones that stupid Best Buy accidentally sold for $100 a few weeks ago. Finally, finally, FINALLY I can afford to buy all the walking simulators. They shall be bundled shortly.

The RNG is strong with these. People have been posting their drop rates and they are abysmal for anything you would actually want. Hence the flood of cheap crap. After 50 crates one guy still had yet to get a high value item. So its probably always more worth it to take your 3-4$ and run

You can always use that to buy gamescom crates to hang on to it and hope their value skyrockets once you cant buy them anymore

Tend to agree with this. I got "lucky" opening a Survivor crate and getting an item worth close to $3, but I got greedy and the 2nd one I opened netted a $0.06 hat :D, I was tempted to even buy a key and open a Gamescom crate, but cant bring myself to do it.

 
I opened 2 crates and got 2 .05 shirts.

I'm looking at the mini-skirt's history and it's interesting: 1 sold at 6am for $204, 1 sold at 7am for $3.50, 1 sold at 11am for $5, 1 at noon for $330 and 1 at 1pm for $487; I bet the dudes that sold for $3 and $5 are kicking themselves.

Those are all for the purple skirt. Weird that there haven't been any listing for the blue skirt.

There are two possibilities here:

1: This is money laundering and it's being used to transfer large amounts of Steam Wallet from one account to another;

2: The $3 and $5 sellers are trying to make a bit of money and leave it at that. The Market is a gamble, it's better to just get some extra cash and let some other dumbass try to sell a virtual item for stupid amounts of money.
