GS FAQ

How many copies of a game can I trade in?
You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of a game (per system) within a rolling 30 day period.

What do I need to trade in an older console?

the console, power cable, av cable, and controller; sometimes they don't care about USB charge cable but ymmv. 3ds xl trade would be console, charger, stylus. Some have reported being charged refurb fee for a stylus, but again ymmv (answer stolen from anarchyburger)

FAQ will be entered when those questions get asked frequently.

I'm gonna have to trade off a bit of my collection to build back up some GS credit.  I'm not seeing a whole lot of boomerangs (without b2g1 coupons), or Redbox flips.  I'll be sure to check out local thrift shops on my way there though.

Details from site:

Elite Pro Members: 40% Extra Credit. Pro Members: 30% Extra Credit. Others: 20% Extra Credit. Offer valid 3/8 - 3/14 only. Bonus valid toward the purchase of new Switch games or systems only. Offer valid for game trades only. Not valid toward cash trades. Trades must be in full working condition to receive full value. Defective items may be eligible for trade at a lesser value. Trades subject to manager approval. Cannot be combined with any other offer. See store associate for details. No dealers. Offer valid in the United States and Guam only. Void where prohibited. GameStop, Inc. reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the offer for any reason without notice.

Note: must buy a NEW switch game or console.

Also the percentages seem weird.

Yeah, I'm not seeing where you're getting up to 70% here...even if the 40% extra is on top of the 20% bonus elite pro members get, it's still 60...

The percentages in the image above the deatils seem to match to the stated "up to 70%" . But yeah, these percentages don't. They'd match to "up to 60%". I'm sure someone will report back and either everyone will be relieved or the gamestop rage in the thread will flare up. I'm sure if you asked nice managers though they'd givev you the extra 10%.

Because it literally says up to 70%

Has anybody started a pro account for their wife or girlfriend?
I talked mom into doing it by getting her a free year of Netflix.

"How do we get Netflix? Can you hook it up to the tv? How does it work?"

"If you take this bag of stuff and this $15 to that nice lady at the counter over there she'll give you a years worth of Netflix and $100 gift card."

"Ok."

$10 . Are you nuts? Just get a glass bottle out of a recycling bin, fill it with watered down grape juice, put it in a paper bag, and tell them it's Mad Dog 20/20.

Would $22 base be a good time to trade in kirby return to dreamland or has it been higher in the past?

I can't believe some of these TIVs. A game like Guitar Hero 3 for Xbox 360 is $6 base, so $10.20 after bump. I've seen 100 copies of that at yards sales for $1, never thought it would go up in value!

I came back from GameStop and the 70% bonus promotion did not stack with the $10 dollar extra credit coupon towards select Switch games. I tested it with BOTW and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 towards the purchase of a new copy of Has-Been Heroes.

Ok so if I traded in SuMO and a $20 base game and bought has been heroes I’d get $75 leftover after? If that’s the case y’all better get on this quick because Has been heroes will be a march top seller

Wow, thanks for the heads up. I have several copies that have just been in storage for 5 years :)

Still no b2g1free pro day coupons for me. I am actually pissed off now 👿

At this time only the two 5000 point coupons worked for me

How did you notice that this random, old game got such a huge jump? What are some of the other games you noticed? Sounds like there's a few.

Just got back from GS. Face when I saw my TIV total 😬 then the extra for the 70% hit from getting Has-Been Heroes 😯

Very good lunch break today! The store I was at had none of the $55 used Switch games...

I just typed in 360 in GS Trade In website and hit search, sorted all 360 games by TIV. That one used to be common as dirt, so it was the most surprising by far. Other than that I've just been looking up games that I don't think I'll ever play again.

Just picked up another switch lol, went from about $450 trade credit to $601 when they added in the switch...not bad eh. I'll probably trade in my old launch switch or just try and sell it locally ..

Would it be frowned upon to do trades toward 2 new switches to get the bonuses in order to amass enough credit for an Xbox One X and then return them for store credit? Anyone somehow been denied or offered only a replacement for a new, unopened console (I know their policy says 30 days refund for unopened merch but still...want to be sure).

Thanks

Bonuses work on switch games as well...

Are you referring to system trades?

It's as I feared. There are only about 3 preowned first party switch titles within 100 miles of me at this point so not going to be worth the time or gas to get in on this round i think. Doesn't help that the pawn laws around here dictate that stores have to hold all trades, even for credit, for at least 2 weeks before reselling. Makes it hard af to keep inventory.
If the switch games like Zelda are still on sale at Best buy, consider buying world war 2s with your GS B2G1 coupons first.

I'm gonna head to indie games shops and pawn shops for the first time since the summer this week. Thanks for the heads up. I have noticed lately some wiser retro game stores specifically following GameStop's values, which means them following the huge spikes on buying price of backward compatibility additions. Hoping to find some Ninja Gaidens and stuff at stores that haven't gotten wise, and preemptively stuff like Forza 1.

PS- for those of ya not wanting to try the math, buying on elite account and trading on pro profits will always equal buying on pro and trading on elite. ;-)

Yes, I would be trading both a switch console, and xbox one s, 3 switch games ($50ish a piece if the 70% is legit), and an old iPhone. Should get around the $600 total needed for 2 switches. I was just worried about the optics of returning 2 switches. I guess I could go to three stores (1 to buy and 1 to return each).

The 70% is legit. A base $30 TIV Switch game with Elite will get you $51.

Why buy Switches when you can just get Has-Been Heroes or the like for the same bonus? Unless I’m missing something, it’s a lot less hassle....

Has anyone traded in a switch where the Joy cons don't stay on snug? My kids switch is a year old and has this issue, was wondering what they do. Was debating trading it in for $250 and get a new one.
