Along with the announcement, LRG said on Twitter: "So Switch fans - this one is an open call for you to show up and give us a taste of how much demand exists on this lovely little platform. If this is a success, we'll definitely consider open preorders on our future Switch releases. Thanks for the support everyone!"

I've been wanting to play this for awhile so I will definitely be picking it up for Switch. Glad they are doing the pre-order approach as well.

I see that game has the premium price (about $15 above PSN price). It does look like a good game, although I'd rather have it on PC, as I find keyboard and mouse ideal for adventure gaming. I doubt it has that DLC with the clown character either.

I'd say regular retail typically drives the price down, not up. We'll likely see it released at the digital price--or close to it--and there is potential for GCU, Prime, sales, free shipping, no need to by in first 5 minutes, etc. I'd be fine with seeing a retail release for Golf Story, as--just like with Owlboy--that provides me with a lot more options and some guaranteed savings.
Yeah, I agree with this normally, but I was referring to the "N" mark up that retail items get. Josh said awhile back they wouldn't be doing that extra cost like those retail games do, so that's why I said I prefer it thru LRG. But yeah, at retail, of course the price should be cheaper, and I agree, the membership options are also another great feature to have.

EDIT: So in for Thimbleweed, damn you LRG for starting off with a must own. My only regret in this being announced, was that the Vita never got this game. I would have loved to have it there instead.

So much for the "$10 higher than digital" pricing model. I kind of get that Switch cartridges probably cost more to make, but it seems unfair for the PS4 version to also be $34.99.

I think that may have to do with Double Fine, and might not be the norm.

EDIT: Like how the Odyssey games are $30, when the regular is $25.

A point-and-click adventure game? They hit my weak point for massive damage.

I already have Thimbleweed Park on two separate digital stores. (Steam and GOG) And I'll STILL show up for a copy on the Switch. I might give the PS4 copy a pass though. As much as I love my point-and-click adventure games, I have to draw a line on double-dipping somewhere. Still, I love throwing money at Ron Gilbert.

I thought it started back with the Octodad tie, or maybe I'm thinking of the Frisbee that was offered recently?
They didn't collaborate with games though.

They were only responsible for the tie.

Now they have game bundles with them.

I see this as more of an official collaboration. ;D

Thimbleweed Park phonebook exclusive to the Switch CE and a cassette tape for the PS4 CE?  Why?  Ugh.  I'd rather have the cassette than the phone book... but I'd probably rather have it for the Switch than the PS4.

Yeah, same for me. I already own most of the TwP merch over at Fangamer, and the only thing I didn't get was the collector's game box. Since the Vita never got this game, I held out hope that the NS would get an offering, so I'll for sure be getting the CE from LRG now. I don't believe it's exact to the CE at Fangamer, but that one is $40, so this becomes an awesome value with that and the higher game cost.

I'm the opposite, I prefer the phone book, as well as wanting it for the NS. This is just about a perfect release for me.

If only they could've thrown in a re-sized version of that expensive art book (which I see listed on LRG's site).
Yeah, the best you can do for that is wait on some fangamer deals. Or if you get up to 40 LRG reward tickets, you can use the $24.99 as a discount, and get it cheaper that way. It's a cool little art book, that sadly many won't ever get because of the higher pricing(Amazon has spoiled us all). LOL

I'll always buy Sony over Nintendo because of the trophies.
I really wish Nintendo would implement a similar system for trophies/achievements. It won't sway me away from buying this on Switch over PS4, but it's definitely a top 3 feature I would like to see implemented to the Switch. If there is one major complaint I have about the Switch and I would imagine it's the same for a lot of people, is how barebones the system is in terms of features.

Does fangamer do sales? The closest thing I can think of is their glitch sale where they toss in free items that have been damaged in some way.

Yeah, once they officially launch their online systems, I think you may see some form of it. I mean, "N" often does shit I can't begin to wrap my mind around(limited demo uses, I'm looking at you), but every once in a very long while, they manage to pull a rabbit out of the fuck ing hat. They went all in on region free, and I'm still amazed by that. There have been many rumors over the years, and at this point, it's like everything else, just stop **** blocking, and let the shit happen.

They do have sales, but they vary greatly in regards to discounts. The best thing they offer is an offer at the holidays, where you get a store credit per every "x" you spend. So I ended up finally grabbing tons of stuff I put off all year. I ended up with 20-30 in credit. Once my credit arrived, I put it towards some preorders I wanted. Not great deals, as there still in their favor, as they have deals where the more you buy, the more you save. So you save more, but you spend more. LOL

I hope they announce something regarding their online plans by E3. The fact that they have been so quiet on the online front tells me they were going to go one direction and decided to go a different route after they put out that horrid app for voice chatting, which has not been brought up by Nintendo for quite some time.

Has anyone played Thimbleweed Park on PS4? I just can't imagine playing it via a controller after using the Switch's touch screen. I tried playing it docked and quickly went back to the touch screen.

I know I'm biased but that's how I played it at first and found it pretty easy to control.

The fact that it was pushed back past when it was originally intended, tells me it was probably very half baked and needed to go back to the drawing board. That shit they mentioned last year before release about 1-2 games a month on loan, or whatever BS they where talking about deserved to be stopped, and shown the door.

I know "N" loves to follow their own drum, but proper online ain't rocket science, no ones looking for a new version of the wheel. Stop with the everything we do needs to WOW people, and lets focus on long term quality, VS. the WOW of today. How's that HD rumble going by the way? Yeah, useless feature, I agree! LOL

If they'd just do what is the norm and give us classic Nintendo games each month, they'd be hitting a home run. I have a feeling for $25 a year we will get a game or two and about the same terrible online we now sadly expect from Nintendo.

Unless the game is exclusive to Nintendo or just screams Switch, ill be sticking with PS4. Aint going to be buying ports just cuz its "zomg, Switch port"

Thimbleweed Park!  There ya go, LRG. This is exactly the type of thing people want to see from you guys.  That being, high quality indie titles that people have already heard about, were considering buying, yet doesn't have a physical presence yet.  Well done LRG.  That's a homerun.

This CE might be a pass for me.
Yeah, none of the items really move me, but for just $25 over the standard, why not? It just seems the more solid buy at the asking price. Normally something like this wouldn't get a second look from me, but I'm seriously thinking about it.

Yeah the box is the best thing about it, and the soundtrack is a nice bonus. I don't see any reason not to get the CE since the SE is high priced to begin with. All or nothing for me.

$25 extra for an outer box, 5 trading cards, a soundtrack cd, and band aids... personally, I'm not sure how people could sell that package with a straight face.
