Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

I need some Xbox child account advice. My oldest is having a birthday soon, and we’re getting him a game I don’t want to add to my gamer card, plus he is very into the Forza games and I don’t want him messing with my progression.

If I get him set up with a child account, can he still play games from my account on the same Xbox? how does Gold work? Can he share mine for stuff like the live features of FH4, or if I turn off social stuff will that cripple most games?
If you only have the one console, this should be pretty simple. Set your console as your home console and every GT that uses it will have access to your games/DLC and Xbox Live Gold.

Ha I was just complaining about the lack of Xbox One X enhanced titles on here yesterday. What's something else I can complain about?

I can't speak specifically for a "child account" but I wouldn't think it would affect anything except maybe age restricted content and whatever you choose for the social stuff. Your Gold and your games will still work for him if it's logged in on your home xbox.

Previous advise is solid, it's what I did. I also made my son's controller to auto sign in to his account, to be safe.

Not sure why I didn’t even know about this game let alone that it is now available for Game Pass but looks pretty cool!

Downloading!

Wow, excited to play Half-Life 2 on my Xbox One X - as I never got around to playing it.

Has Half-Life 3 been made backward compatible yet?

I saw a youtube of it and seemed like a Dark Souls Boss Rush mode which got my attention, awesome that it's on Game Pass

Stupid Microsoft, why can't Lollipop Chainsaw go BC....maybe they don't like empowered women in miniskirts laying waste to fools.
Published by WB, I'd guess that isn't helping. They only have three BC games, two of which are Batman and one is the XBLA version of Joust. I didn't realize it before looking now but apparently all of the BC Lego games aside from Batman are published by Disney instead of WB. Lollipop Chainsaw has a lot of licensed music in it too, now that I think about it. That is probably a big factor. Even if the game isn't super well rated they'd get cool points for releasing it since it was written by James Gunn and made by Suda 51's studio, even if Suda wasn't too involved.

There aren't really many cheesecake games on BC, pretty much just Rumble Roses and maybe Catherine, but there weren't that many to begin with on 360 or Xbox Prime. Pretty much just Oneechanbara and Dead or Alive Xtreme are coming to mind. I don't think it's Microsoft being against it so much as the some Japanese publishers not being on board with BC. I'm shocked with don't have more Tecmo games aside from Ninja Gaiden Black and some XBLA games. At the very least they should do DOA4 since it had the Halo crossover.

Hopefully we get an analysis before too long. I wonder if they were able to flick on any graphical or detail options in the engine like Oblivion supposedly did. Great to hear regardless, though I've got to pick up Orange Box again eventually.

Is there any way to see your complete download/purchase history anymore? The link I used to use now redirects to this link which is very flaky and doesn't show :360: purchases anyway.

The link I can see this info at now doesn't seem to go back all the way. It stops in 2011 for me.
there was another link specifically for xbox 360 download history. i used it to build my spreadsheet a few years ago. i can't look into it more right now since i'm at work.

Try below for order history. 2011 is the furthest it'll go. I brought this up with a MS support a few years ago and they too were surprised it only went that far back.

Played a little a lunch and it’s really rough.
Probably could have used more time in the oven but shows promise.

What makes it different is that your HP and stats actually go *down* with every boss you kill. I suck enough at Dark Souls games so I don’t see me doing very well if I get less powerful as the game goes on. :(

You're probably referring to the first link I mentioned in my post. It used to be a simple list of the names of whatever things I've purchased or "purchased" and the list would auto-scroll the further you went down the page. I think that one is gone now, but I would love to see if you have a different link than the one I posted about.

Yep that's the one I am using now (that I mentioned in my post). I'm trying to find out whether or not I actually purchased L4D because I could swear I did but yet I don't own it digitally (maybe discally, I'll have to check), but that page also doesn't go far enough back to confirm that I've purchased L4D2 (which the product page can confirm that).

The only other option I can think of is the order history of your account on an actual 360, I looked at mine the other day for something. It took forever to populate and scroll all the way through but I know for a fact near the end of the list I saw Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and that had a October 2006 release date.

I think order history redirects you to the website. I would look under download history and start all the way at the bottom (don't know if there's a way to sort) just in case you got it before 2011. It's going to be a pain but I think it's the only way to find out for sure.

yeah download history is probably it. I'm not in front of an Xbox 360 so whatever one keeps you in the actual dashboard itself and doesn't redirect you to a web page like you've probably already looked at.

You will be able to choose custom options for what your child is able to do online. It really is helpful being able to lock down certain features until you're comfortable.

I would suggest putting a passcode to log on to your account to keep from being able to change the child options without your permission.

Just noticed this and wondering if anyone else sees it.

If I go to my games and apps, down to game pass there's a ready to install tab that lists:

observer, dead island riptide definitive, hello neighbor, outlast and that new sinner game.

Wonder if they're going to add those for Halloween. Only games I can install are Sinner and Outlast (probably from games with gold). Guessing they put Sinner up early so people didn't buy it.

i skipped L4D because i bought the cold stream DLC for L4D2. did you do the same?

I own no DLC for L4D2. I see this description for that DLC:
MacroHard said:
Left 4 Dead 2’s “Cold Stream” features the community made and tested “Cold Stream” campaign and four classic Left 4 Dead campaigns. This content contains English dialog with localized closed captions.
Is this the entirety of L4D or only some of it?

didn't own Observer and Hello Neighbor but yeah I do see them in the Game Pass ready to install list

DOOM was showing up on Gamepass lists before it was announced, so hopefully we're getting a few Halloween surprises. My kids have wanted Hello Neighbor for awhile.

Does anyone know if there's a list of unplayable 360 games anywhere? I can only find lists of delisted games, not games that have been completely shut down and are now unplayable.

Here's my current non BC 360 line up:
Total games: 124
Kinect/Vision Camera: 10
Already have X1 versions: 49

There's a few games that wouldn't be made BC, so I think I have potentially 60 more games that could go BC.

A number of the horror themed countdown items had their counter bumped from "3 days left" last night to "4 days left" as of 15 minutes ago.  That would line up more with the regular Monday date night.  Not everything has switched, but it wouldn't surprise me if the rest did over the next couple days.  The only new thing since last night is Premium Pool Arena with a 4 day countdown.

Maybe this game has frighteningly bad physics? :whistle2:?

Sit them down and explain what "disappointment" means cause that's whats going to happen when they play Hello Neighbor. Such a bad game

Nice. Loving these new release adds!
To be fair that might have been announced at E3, but off the radar for long enough that sorta forgotten about. Game looks pretty incredible though at least art style wise, sorta a Dark Souls meets Team ICO (The Last Guardian, Shadow of the Colossus, Ico "obviously") Hopefully there is something to it.

Boo! You somehow found a way to disapoint us on a non Monday again. You have skills

I own no DLC for L4D2. I see this description for that DLC:
Is this the entirety of L4D or only some of it?
It's most of it. The first campaign from L4D1 was ported over with The Sacrifice DLC. The whole DLC set up for L4D was weird as hell, mostly because it was all free on Steam but MS apparently wouldn't allow free DLC to have achievements, which Valve used as the excuse for charging for this content. It never made much sense to me as an explanation. Why not simply not have achievements for the new content? Why not charge less, like $1 or $5, instead of $7? I think the later DLCs including the old stuff was partial to boost the value of them, but primarily it was to placate the backlash they received from many Valve fans for putting out 2 so soon after 1.

Anyways, I used to play a LOT of L4D, so here's pretty much everything you need to know about it, and the differences from L4D1. To get all of L4D1's maps playable in L4D2, it means you need these two DLCs:

The Sacrifice - this gives you the first campaign No Mercy from L4D 1, and new campaign The Sacrifice, which is the ending to the story of the characters from the original game (though there is a bit of epilogue in the free accompanying comic that release alongside it). This release was weird because it was actually also put out for L4D1 at the same time.

Cold Stream - this gives you the titular Cold Stream campaign, that was actually a fan made map. I don't think the story is canon, but it is pretty good as it went through a lot of public testing on PC before release. It also gives you the remaining FOUR campaigns that make up the rest of the L4D, including one that was paid DLC in the original. If you only buy one DLC make it this one, as it by far adds the most content. 5 campaigns is over 20 additional levels.

Finally, there is one more DLC, The Passing. While the campaign itself is cool, playing as the L4D2 characters when they cross paths with the original characters from 1. It is somewhat short and only includes one campaign while costing the same as the other DLCs. The other big inclusion was the Mutations game modes. Basically custom gametypes that were generally gimmick modes (all chainsaws!) or much harder settings. They used to rotate weekly but not you can just choose all of them any time. This also added one more weapon to the game.

So, is it worth grabbing the DLC if you already own the vanilla versions of both games? I'd say yes, aside from the fact that you also get new L4D2 content for Cold Stream and The Passing, and The Sacrifice is paid either way for 1 or 2, the imported levels are improved in a few ways. First, the maps themselves are tweaked and improved based on feedback and data gathered from the time they were originally in the first game. More important and noticeably, the many new weapons, and the new Special Infected, are incorporated into the Left 4 Dead

As for actually buying these DLCs at full price, it is very shitty that they are still the full priced $7 each after all this time, so unless you're really desperate for new content I'd at least wait until the Black Friday and Christmas sales to see if they go on sale. I know they have gone to as low as $1 during sales in the past as I bought at least one of these DLCs this way. If you do play games on PC at all, this game will run fine on pretty much everything at this point, with all of the above DLC free, as well as Steam Workshop support with a ton of fan made campaigns/weapons/characters/enemies available for free as well. I'd guess Steam's version is better populated as well, though I had no problems finding games when L4D2 was first made BC on Xbox One.
