Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Gotta say, MS is improving with their online pricing compared to physical copies during sales like this. Figured I was only picking up 2-3 games this year, but MS's Black Friday sale changed that. Wound up buying like 9 games from this sale. Nice to see MS Turing this around. It always frustrated the hell out of me that digital copies were prices so much higher than physical copies. Made no sense whatsoever. Again, nice to see this is changing.
Just out of curiosity, what ones would that be? Besides WB stuff I think almost everything that has a physical release has been cheaper physical this holiday.

In all honesty, I welcome it. While I prefer discs, sometimes saving money is worth the trade off.

Got back from my trip, fired up the XB1, checked the Rewards app, got checks for everything but the ID@Xbox one (RiME). Guess we'll see if that finishes up this week, but I'll be surprised if I get another shot at redeeming a code before the Black Friday sales end Tuesday morning. Picked up some credit from Newegg to supplement my credit from Rewards.

Already picked up Ms. Pac-Man. Since I probably won't get to my 360 again before the sale ends, picked up Costume Quest and the 3 Final Fantasy 13 games. Considered Castlevania LoS 2, but that was the same sale price a few months back and should hit that price again since it's already BC. Already have Crysis 1 and 3 digital. I think I have 2 physical, which is probably why I didn't pick it up when it was $5 in the past. Not spending $10 to complete the digital set now.

Will go through the XB1 stuff later.

Storeparser don't go all the way back to release like psprices does... odd
https://www.storeparser.com/en-US/xbox-one/search-results/diablo-3/game-1927/diablo-iii-reaper-of-souls-ultimate-evil-edition/
(and psprices is hit/miss with xbox and switch games unlike their ps charts)
Store Parser only goes back as far as the site's been up.

Well for starters all 3 of the Tomb Raiders were cheaper digital than retail. Gold editions not standard

AC Origins was .20 cheaper digital standard, Gold was $33 and I didnt see any BF sales on it, but could have missed it.

Battle chasers nightwar was $9, Shadow of modor goty was $5. Neither were on sale anywhere that I saw physical.

There were some I saw at the same price digital as the physical sales.

Overall the digital sales were actually good, beating physical more than a few times.

Ah yeah could be with gold editions. I know in particular base Shadow was $25 at Wal-mart/Amazon and $27 at Gamestop,

It's kind of crazy that Darksiders III is coming out tomorrow and basically it seems no news outlet has played or seen it in months, doesn't bode well but I'll hold out hope against hope.

It's been seen and played, check YouTube. Lots of channels have actual gameplay. IGN has videos from the past couple weeks. They may have an embargo on the review date until tomorrow, as many games do that. The main thing is last week was Thanksgiving, and major sites really aren't built for handling new content during holidays as that - they have skeleton crews running things. Coming out after Thanksgiving week is sort of weird, but it does give them a fairly empty playfield during release week when people are out shopping.

Edit: And yep, IGN has a review up now.

I have enough MS Rewards points to get another $15 in credit and I'm trying to decide what to get. I'm mostly leaning towards either just getting Lego City Undercover and holding on to a few points or getting Dishonored 2. I haven't played through the first Dishonored yet, but I know everyone pretty much loved the sequel and I really enjoy the Lego games, although I didn't really get into LCU when I had it when I had a Switch, but I was playing it mostly mobile.

Anyone have any advice?

I've been grinding Guitar Hero Live since the servers are shutting down Saturday, and it has actually been pretty enjoyable. It's a shame the game flamed out so fast.

My BF haul:

DIGITAL:
Mortal Kombat XL
Goat Simulator DLC
MINI Ninjas
Turok
The Disney Afternoon Collection
Deus Ex Mankind Divided Season Pass
Bastion
Batman Return to Arkham
Injustice 2 LE
Toby

DISC:
LA Noire

Okay fam, it's the last day of the digital sale, where are those I bought lists so we can make last min purchases based on peer pressure!

I bought:
(Digital)
Final Fantasy XIII
Surf n Turf Overcooked DLC
Ms Pacman
Goat Simulator DLC pack
Ben 10
Mortal Kombat XL
Batman Return to Arkham
Super Bomberman R
Tom Clancy Ghost Recon Wildlands

(Disc)
Far Cry 5

Red Controller

Was trying to get an easy achievement in BF V. How the heck do you call in reinforcements?
You have to be squad leader. Get points and hold lb and rb it will open a wheel. Pick your item. Let go out the bumpers while clicking item. It will say they are avalible. It brings tanks or planes to your held zones

Objection! Let the record state that I clearly said the game came out in 2012 your honor, which my fine people of the jury, it did.

My point was just that it's interesting how long some games get milked. GTAV came out in 2013 and just started hitting $20 on sales about a year ago.

I wish I could get a digital copy of D3 without the Necromancer for $5 to ditch my disc but now that they are just bundling it, I won't ever see that.
I wish the Necromancer DLC was on sale by itself...

My Black Friday/Cyber Monday Haul:

Impact Winter

That's literally all I bought...
Hey, thanks for posting this. Totally skipped over that game initially but after seeing your post and reading up on it, it seems right up my alley; adding to haul.

Sales of Dishonored 2 were less than the publishers hoped, so in order to finish up the plot lines and cap the entire series, Death of the Outsider was developed as standalone rather than DLC to include everything Arkane wanted. I don't think it sold especially well either, but if you want the full Dishonored experience you likely want both Dis2 and DotO.

Wheres the “my backlog is overflowing, so i bought more games bacause they are on sale” anonymous meetings?
I feel no guilt as I no longer consider it my backlog. I like to look at this backlog as building something I can pass along to my kids someday. If they start young enough and dedicate their entire lives there is a small chance they can finish at least half of it.

Picked up a few Lego games and Deus Ex. Want to get fallout 4 GOTY edition but I'm not going to let myself buy it until I finish at least one of the following - dlc for Fallout 3, dlc for Fallout new Vegas, or Skyrim.

Thanks! This makes the decision a lot easier. I'll just grab Lego City since I don't have enough to get both titles. They'll be on sale again sooner rather than later.

So my final haul was just 6 months extension of Gamepass. There was a few things that caught my eye but I can wait until next month to buy them and not play them.

Got around to playing that $1 Pacman game last night... how the hell did they manage to ruin the controls? The input lag is awful, is this how it's supposed to be with the old Pacman games? Maybe I've been spoiled by the recent Pacman CE games.

The CE controls are much tighter, that's for sure. I've always felt a little lag with the originals, but i'm sure it's more noticeable after spending some time with the CE games.

You have to be squad leader. Get points and hold lb and rb it will open a wheel. Pick your item. Let go out the bumpers while clicking item. It will say they are avalible. It brings tanks or planes to your held zones
Cool. Thanks!

Building reinforcements with an engineer is easy, just equip the building item near a structure and you can build 10 in one round really quickly.
LOL. I think this is the “reinforcements” that I was thinking about that is easy. I’ll give that a shot. Thanks!

With the rumored Arkham Collection that is supposedly being released on Tuesday, I don't know if I should just pull the trigger on getting the games now and hoping that they release a patch with 4K and HDR support. I have a hard time believing that they would release a collection that includes these updates separately, but then again, the Telltale Walking Dead enhanced versions were locked in that collection, even though the games were all released on current gen.
Damn I was about to buy the Batman Arkham games on sale but now I'm not sure if I should wait for the collection. Arkham Knight doesn't even run at 1080p on the Xbox right? It's like 900p or something?

On the fence with some items from the sale. Would appreciate any advice on any of the following:

Need For Speed Payback Deluxe

Lego Worlds

Black Knight Sword

Fantastic Pets (for the kids)

MX Unleashed (or any other MX games)

Rocket Riot

Misadventures of PB Winterbottom

Supreme Commander 2

QUBE 2

Turok

Ms. Pac-Man

Thanks in advance for any advice.
I grabbed Lego Worlds (best price it's had so far at $9).

Like most other Lego games my kids have been having a blast with it... they also are crazy for Minecraft, which the game has similar open world building options like... only down side is that it's only 2 players so not everyone can play at once.

With the mediocre reviews, I cancelled my Darksiders 3 preorder. Interestingly I had done a ton of preorders to lock in the GCU discount before I lost it and have probably cancelled 80% of them. Too many games and even with GCU, not as good as just waiting until they drop lower.

Well after cashing in all my bing points  I got all these games for $69.82 cash out of pocket.  This was building up from daily bing, game pass gold and gamepass quests.( Some of those were $5 credits) And I  still get 100 microsoft rewards points per dollar spent, which I kept cashing back in.  This is using only one account

Injustice 2 - Legendary Edition

Assassin's Creed Origins - GOLD EDITION
Burnout™ Paradise Remastered
Wolfenstein® II: The New Colossus™ Digital Deluxe Edition
The Evil Within® 2
Call of Duty®: WWII - Digital Deluxe
Prey®: Digital Deluxe Edition
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege Complete Edition
Middle-earth™: Shadow of War
The Middle-earth™: Shadow of War™ Expansion Pass
Batman: Return to Arkham
Monster Hunter World Deluxe
Disney Afternoon Collection

Going to miss the microsoft rewards 100 points per dollar bonus next years. No more free games for awhile. Now I'm saving up for 12 months.xbox live.

Just redeemed a bunch of credit on my girlfriend's account to purchase a few games and DLC. I was distracted by the numerous identity verifications I had to do, and the addition of the cart, so I forgot to gift them to my account. We Gameshare, so it shouldn't be a problem. I've never had a Game and DLC have different license owners before though, I hope that doesn't break something. Knowing MS, it will break everything.

Honestly they'd probably been better off taking a page from Metal Gear Survive and making the starting price $40. Or you know still including some NPCs even if not as many as other games. I just can't imagine that someone pitched "No NPC!" and everyone else was like "Yeah, cool, lets go with that!"

Of course thats just the beginning of the problems but easily pretty major shots in the foot by choice.

Only criticism I don't really agree with is the one about copy and pasting reused assets. New Vegas uses 3's stuff left and right and didn't diminish anything. Didn't bother me when seeing he reviews and gameplay either.
The whole "no npcs" argument is way overblown in my opinion. There are many NPC robots who give you missions, say silly things and tell the story of an area. Yes you don't choose dialogue options. There are radio transmissions and holo tapes all over the place that add the backstory and context for what happened and why you are doing what you are doing. Vault 76 is the first vault to open, as they have said many times. A terrible disease spread across appalachia (spoilers I guess) and ended up killing those who were left after the bombs fell or turning them into the scorched which are basically radiated ghouls.

Bethesda said from the beginning what this game was going to be, and the beta was what this game is. Waiting on your friend to get a quest and click through a long tedious dialogue tree would be very annoying and adds nothing to them game. Instead, you can listen to a holo tape as you pillage and/or loot and the pace of the game remains steady.

In addition to the aforementioned robotic npcs there is at least one travelling friendly super mutant, and a whole lot of not so friendly super mutants.

If all you want out of a Fallout game is HUMAN NPC's and dialogue choices, then don't worry, this game doesn't replace Fallout 5. If you go to these games for exploration, loot and world building then this game has all of that. Also, coming across another player in this game has led to some of the best online experiences I have had. People freely trading and working together. There isn't a big incentive to attacking another player, so no one does. Usually what gets you a wanted level is by destroying another player's buildings or taking over a workshop they own, then if they shoot at you, the pvp begins.

This in my opinion has been the biggest example of internet dog-piling I have ever seen, and frankly the game doesn't deserve it. I have on many occasions talked to my friends about our experiences in Fallout games and we say with a sigh "Wouldn't it be great if we could play it coop?" Well now we can and do and it is awesome.

Oh and also, I'm personally excited for a Diablo mobile game.

I prefer Lego Worlds over the other Lego games. good choice! The 2 players only does suck, and is the same for Humans Fall Flat for local which is a bummer. How far are you guys? Do you have all of the tools?

Shove it.
Even if you are fine with the questionable design choices that many of us dislike, the game still deserves the hate because it is a dumpster fire of bugs on all three platforms, the worst I've ever seen for a $60 AAA game. It fails in many technical ways aside from the broken gameplay stuff, with many, MANY ways for the game to screw up and lose you hours of gameplay, resources, and/or ammo. There are also tons of ways to simply break the systems of the entire games. Just today, a fairly easy method of BECOMING INVINCIBLE and able to do enough damage to KILL PLAYERS IN PASSIVE MODE WITH ONE SHOT was discovered and posted on r/Fallout.

Beyond the bugs, this game sacrifices just about all of the best aspects of the previous games for the sake of the co-op to the point that it's shouldn't even be labeled a spin-off. On top of everything else, Bethesda has remained completely silent since putting out the near worthless 50 gig patch, while also insulting their early adopters by allowing for heavy discounts for Black Friday that were clearly not planned.

Most people aren't actually upset that a Diablo mobile game is being made. They're mad at the complete tone-deafness Blizzard had with its announcement, and that they tried to push a game clearly designed for the Chinese market so heavily to their core PC fans in the West without so much as a hint of a real announcement.

Reported.

Yeah, Knight never got an X enhanced versions, so it never hit 1080p. Asylum and City do hit 1080p now on X, but the frame rate is topped at 45fps, which doesn't look or feel as good based on DF's analysis.

Worse the AC Unity at launch that game was a POS at launch by all accounts. Wasn't bad a year or so later (Still had issues) when I played a much patched version. Over 100GB on XBox IRC.
