  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

I managed to complete DR4's main campaign with some enjoyment but any and all things involving it's multiplayer and DLCs were over the top awful to the point where I questioned if the game was literally broken on many occasions... (I think that it actually was for a point maybe patched but never really fixed...) I think all the other DRs are put together much better in terms of challenge and solid game design.
I can agree with the DLC. Bought the season pass after completing the main game and was left wanting more but found the story DLC to be lacking. Playing as a zombie sounds like fun but took away a lot of what made the base game fun. Never tried the multiplayer stuff but that's just cause I don't play a lot of MP anymore. Its a shame to hear it didn't run very well.

I can see getting more enjoyment out of 4 if you haven't played the old games, but there are just too many glaring issues if you do have history. Stuff like Frank basically being a completely different character in appearance, voice, and actions. The writing style is completely different, the mech suit makes you way too overpowered even worse than 3's vehicles, a lot of "new" combo weapons are just reskins with a different element, the removal of Psychopaths was a big loss too though I heard they were patched back in after a year. The writing and story alone put me off to begin with as a fan, but fact that so many small items were made non-usable bothered me pretty bad, along with most of the stores in the mall not being open. With 4, Capcom brought in new creative leads that weren't fans of the old games and it showed, the director didn't even stay there past the launch of the game so I think it's safe to say he wasn't passionate about the project, I think that lead to a lot of the issues fans of the series had. I'm not saying it's completely trash as a game, but it's hard to separate my thoughts out that way since I love the old ones, and when compared to those I just think it's bad.

I didn't mind the power armor. It was great for the short periods of time you got to use it in story missions but to me it wasn't put in situations where it felt like you needed to be using it all the time.

What sort of small items were made non usable in 4 that were available in the other games? Curious to see what I was missing out on. Its unfortunate more of the original creative team didn't get to work on it Reminds me of Mass Effect Andromedas development.

Fell asleep and missed the train on Train Sim World and DR2 OTB (thanks to all who answered), I guess next time.

Final haul goes:

Borderlands Handsome Collection
Quiz time (not part of sale but)
Burnout Paradise Remastered
Crysis 3
Everspace
RBI Baseball 18
Riptide GP Renegade
SSX 3
Trivial Pursuit Live

And bought Gears of War 4 from CDKeys.

Eyeing Road Rage, Spintires, or Gas Guzzlers now

So- my company just laid off myself and the rest of the department (ecommerce), effective immediately.
Pros: no longer commuting 5+ hours, time for playing through my backlog
Cons: I have to find a job so I can support my family. And I started to cut alcohol to drop weight

2019 comes out swinging.

#sidebar: 'Rise of the Tomb Raider' is pretty fantastic. Highly recommend it
I am very sorry to hear that. I hope a better job comes along quickly for you.

It's hard to describe it but there is just a lot more detail in the environments and stuff you can do in the older games. Lots of junk items that aren't all that useful if at all, but they make the world feel more real. The smaller world size meant that pretty much everything was intractable. It just leads to a different vibe overall.

I wouldn't quite compare it to Andromeda. In Dead Rising's case a the same studio has been working on it since DR2, and I think they started out getting it but either their own goal, or more likely Capcom proper, was to try and change the formula to appeal to a wider audience. 4 had basically the same team as 2, OTR, and 3, just with the couple lead guys swapped out. Andromeda is pretty different, a whole new team in bad circumstances that had barely worked on the series before being given a game to reboot the series with.

It seems like Capcom continues to be all over the map with learning lessons. I would say DMC5 is going back to what the fans want with a few new concepts, while RE7 and RE2 Remake are a weird hybrid of totally new implementation of old ideas that seem to work. With DR I just don't think they understand what it's fans really love about the series.

Oh yeah? Well, what about some insane not-gonna-happen scenario where the job paid a billion dollars an hour? Yeah, it'd be worth it then! Bet you feel pretty dumb now that I've proven you wrong, huh?
If I was making a billion dollars an hour I would buy a McMansion 10 mins away and have my butler drive me to work.

Text literally any word to 28661 today (or I guess every Friday) for a chance to win 2 movie tickets from Atom. Took me about 12 tries. Have friends that got it after anywhere from 1 to 200 texts but they all won. Supposedly can only win once every 120 days per account.

Thank you everyone for the warm wishes- they made me laugh and smile!  I know this is a blessing in disguise because I can now look for a job in San Luis Obispo (where the in-laws live) and move my family out of LA. My wife still has her job and I filed all of my EDD (unemployment ) paperwork yesterday.

I know I've only played games with a few of you but I just want to say how much I appreciate this community.  I was feeling down and all of these Internet friends took time out of their day to communicate words of encouragement.  I've been an actor for a long time and we're  conditioned for rejection- but we are not conditioned for support. So thank you very much for the smiles and laughs- it's made a sucky situation better.

For those wondering: My previous  gig was in 'Customer Experience | Marketing.'  So I was in charge of Acquisition, Engagement, and Retention with the later two more weighted

Good luck!

My haul seems pretty light this time all I got from the big sale was Battle Chasers, Battlefield V Upgrade, and Spartacus season 1...

I grabbed Vampyre on the weekly sales and put my left over credits into pre-ordering Anthem (hope it's good and doesn't just feel like a lame Destiny....or anything much like destiny at all that is).

My haul was much lighter this time around:

NBA 2K Playgrounds 2

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes

LEGO Star Wars: TFA Deluxe

LEGO City Undercover

Riptide GP Renegade

SSX 3

Picked up a physical copy of Prince of Persia (360) from GS as well.

So after going a full Life is Strange binge last week (finished everything available) I finally started Doom. Pretty fun shooter once I monkeyed with the graphic options to stop me from feeling incredibly nauseous while playing.

Sorry to hear that dude. Dont lose heart, there must be something good out there for you - coming from someone who recently got laid off (3 months ago) and just started a new one.

You'll find something soon, I wish you good luck.

I didn’t realize you were in SoCal too. I used to commute from LA to Santa Barbara and getting a job closer to home was the best thing that ever happened to me. I speak from a similar experience of being laid off, believe me when I say working closer to home will make a world of difference to you.

Plus getting out of LA will reduce some bills on its own.

I didn't end up picking up much during from the holiday sale. DMC4 as a gift and Tacoma for myself. Spent my Christmas money on Smash Bros instead.

Eyeing Road Rage, Spintires, or Gas Guzzlers now
I really enjoyed Spintires. The mission objectives are the same on every map so it gets kinda repetitive after a while, but I paid $30 for it and don’t regret it. Keep in mind that it’s currently on Game Pass.

Road Rage was unanimously panned by reviewers. You might wanna hold off for a good sale on Road Redemption instead.

Never heard of Gas Guzzlers so I have nothing to say about that one.

Picked up Guacamelee 2 since its technically on sale... loved the first one.

Really torn on what to get next... will prob nab Resident Evil 2 at launch even though it's not on sale. Cant wait to play that one!

As has been pointed out, happened once with Sony.... and happened on much bigger sites with much larger breaches.... but Sony gets constantly harassed over it. Facebook/Google sells everything they have on you, (Sharing for free in some cases) they get a pass.

https://www.csoonline.com/article/2130877/data-breach/the-biggest-data-breaches-of-the-21st-century.html
Sony is the 12th largest breach, yet #1 in blame.
12th largest breach. Or you know, they shouldn't be there to begin with? That's like saying this polished turd is more polished than the others.

The Xbox store is all levels of bad. I'm searching for "All Games" and the cutoff point is with Battle Chasers, a game that came out in October 2017. I forgot shit like Aban Hawkins and 1001 Spikes existed because I never see them in the store or on sale. The fact that this market has been around for over 5 years and STILL hasn't added a way to sort games by letter is puzzling.

I'm trying to find games that I had an interest in to pin to my wish list or buy. I'd love for anyone to post thier picks for (prefablly older) Xbox One games that don't get alot of recognition.

Edit: I found one: Realms of Arkania: Blade of Destiny. A remake of a 1992 RPG that claims it's one of the most successful rpgs of the 90's.

I've never heard of it, looks interesting to but it's currently $39.99. Into the wishlist it goes until it goes on sale or I stumble across another fortune of Microsoft credit.

I have a friend who knows the author of "Everything Happens for a Reason" and has been recommending it to everyone so I figured to basically be paid Xbox money to get it why not?

Odd you have to use Edge for their books though.

Anyone else order some games from the Christmas /end of the year gamefly sale? My order says it was shipped on 12/26 but I still haven't received it yet. I've ordered from them in the past with no issues. There's no way for me to track it either.

I got my Attack on Titan 2 and Star Fox Guard either on or a little before Christmas Eve and ordered them right around when the deal came live.

And you only get tracking on orders when you make an order of two or more games.

Yeah it sucks, for what it's worth the true achievements website has a list of every game and can even be sorted quite well with filters. There is so much ID @ Xbox stuff that just disappears into the ether forever that even a simple %10 sale could resurface it. https://www.trueachievements.com/games.aspx

Like 911 operator is just a years old and has been pretty much ghosted from the Xbox Dashboard and man that looked so interesting odd...

Hand of Fate 2, give me a sale

Guess it's time for my sale haul post, before it becomes completely pointless.

I picked up:

Borderlands The Handsome Collection

Cubot - The Complexity of Simplicity

Hitman GOTY

Hitman 2

Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens Deluxe

Life is Strange: Before the Storm

Monopoly Plus

Rock of Ages II: Bigger & Boulder

Storm Boy

Tacoma

The Missing: J.J Macfield and the Island of Memories

Torment: Tides of Numenera

Vampyr

Yoku's Island Express

I've already completed Storm Boy, Monopoly (achievement wise), Cubot, Tacoma, and my favorite so far The Missing. Made myself play about an hour or so of each game I bought and everything has been pretty good. Vampyr is very interesting, excited to see where that goes. Missed Rock of Ages II when it released so it was an instant get at under five bucks. I'll buy anything ACE Team makes.

I just started Celeste, and it's not at all what I expected.  I think that I was expecting something like Towerfall 2, but it's more of a straight-up platformer.  I dig the pixel art, but I am still trying to get used to the controls.  Glad it was a Games With Gold entry because I would be pissed if I paid for it since I've died numerous times on the first stage.

You know what they say - as you get older, your platforming skills are the first thing to go.

Thanks. Didn’t know about Road Redemption and seem to remember now the stuff I read about Rage during its last sale so I’ll take your advice there.

On spintires can I just not do objectives and explore?

My platforming skills never existed. I do the same thing I do with every other game, except racing games, press as many buttons as I can, at the same time with my fat/flabby thumb. Something always sticks.

I was slightly disappointed with Celeste too, though I'm at the very beginning and the game may yet grow on me; the garden in between on the otherhand, I so love it. :)

You're free to explore the first map to your heart's content but you have to complete the mission objectives (haul logs to the lumber mills) in order to unlock subsequent maps. However, there are two free DLC maps that you can download which should be unlocked from the get-go:

If you guys want to try again, there’s options in the menu that let you change the speed of the game, give you unlimited jumps, etc, and as far as I remember it doesn’t affect achievements. They really made this game very accessible because they wanted people to experience the story. I played through normally first (I love platformers) but I definitely changed the options a bit for some of the harder strawberries and secrets. Definitely worth another go if you guys are willing, so I wanted to point out these options.

I just went back to playing the game, and I don't see an option that provides unlimited jumps. I must be missing something.

Edit: Ah, I see it says assist mode. But even with assist mode enabled, the game has so many precision jumps that it just isn't any fun (for me at least). Again, if it wasn't a Games With Gold title, I would be extremely annoyed. I'm sure there are people who enjoy this sort of game. I'm just not one of them.

Oh man. I was going to buy Catherine but looks like price is back to $20...
Hopefully that wasn't your last chance. With Full Body being PS exclusive and what seems to be a port of the original coming to Steam I wouldn't be surprised if the BC version stops being so heavily discounted.

.

Not a fan either. Grew up on platformers but this feels like somebody played Super Meat Boy a bit much. Nowhere its level but the influence seems to pop at you

Celeste is hard as balls but it’s a masterpiece. Better then Super Meat Boy IMO and beautifully designed with compelling themes as well.

Yeah I hope not. I might just break my all digital rule and get it used from GameStop.

Tales of Vespiria Definitive Edition is out this week. Debating on using my 25% off for losing GCU coupon before I forget I even have it. Loved that game. Think the hopes of it going BC are officially dead?

Used the current B2G1 at GS (ew) to get two games I'm pretty sure will never go BC: Captain America and the original Nier, both CIB and in pretty great condition.

According to Wikipedia, Bandai Namco has 17 games on BC right now, although many are arcades style games. We did get Dark Souls, though, so maybe they'll wait until the remaster is out for awhile?

Even if it did go BC there is more content including an additional party member in the updated version of Vesperia. The only downside is the $50 price tag. I don't know how well it's going to do, seems kind of dumb to release it two weeks before Kingdom Hearts 3.

Thing with Kingdom Hearts is that it sounds like you really should have played the other KH games before this one to understand what’s going on. A lot of people haven’t played them (myself included).

I did get the collections on PS4. I just have been busy plugging away on my X1X while the PS4 is collecting dust. Probably should dig into them but it’s a long road to catch up.

Unrelated but iTunes is coming to Samsung TVs. Hoping that the Apple dam is finally going to burst and Rokus and others will get iTunes soon as well. Makes sense if they want to sell their upcoming streaming service (and sell more digital to compete with Vudu, etc.).

I Have friends who have played all the Kingdom Hearts games and none of them know what's going on. If anything the more games that get added the more confusing they get.

That’s my understanding as well. Kind of odd for a series with Mickey Mouse to be so confusing even adults don’t get it. Lol

I wouldn't say this new release of Tales of Vesperia kills off BC chances anymore than they already were, ha if anything it might of reminded them the thing exists on the 360. I could see it happening a few months down the line after they got the sales they're going to get out of this. There are so many Tales games, I happened to be looking through "Week 4" of the gigantic Playstation holiday sale and I lost track of how many there were, actually just so so many Bandai/Namco titles in general. Thought Phil said he had a good meeting in Japan with Bandai Namco... when am I getting God Eater?

Yeah, the story in KH is needlessly complicated, it's worse than MGS. I played the original and loved it when it came out, then didn't play another until the 3DS game. The story never made sense, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Speaking of PS2 RPGs, those of you who missed out on Final Fantasy X previously are in for a treat when it comes to X1 later this year. I forgot how great the battle system is, lots of good strategy for what looks initially like a pretty standard turn-based JRPG. I loved it when it originally came out, and the remaster is really well done.
