Current Trade in Promos:

GS FAQ

How many copies of a game can I trade in?
You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of the same game (same system) within a rolling 30 day period.

What do I need to trade in an older console?
The console, power cable, av cable, and controller. Sometimes they don't care about USB charge cable but ymmv. 3DS XL trade would be console, charger, and stylus. Some have reported being charged a refurb fee for missing the stylus, but again ymmv (answer stolen from anarchyburger)

FAQ will be entered when those questions get asked frequently.

Does the Pro Membership B2G1 coupon apply to only games, or accessories as well?
The coupon applies to both games and accessories, per the wording on the coupon.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free. Typically refers to the coupon you receive when becoming Pro.
GCU/BB: Gamer’s Club Unlocked, Best Buy
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

Anybody have experience with GameStop's GPG? I got a three disc game and the second disc has problems. Pre-owned doesn't seem to be available in stores around me, but they have new ones in stock. Will they give me a new one instead?

It's dark souls trilogy, in case you're interested.

they will simply refund it if too much time hasnt gone by

if you ordered it in the mail they will mail you a replacement free of charge

or in this PARTICULAR case they may just try and help you by offering to swap that broken disc out with scholar of the first sin standalone disc for that system

Thanks. I bought it in store and the online shipping doesn't seem to be an option since it's sold out. I will see what they say about the ds2 disc, is scholar of the first sin the same as the second disc from the trilogy?

they would only order you a new one in the mail if your first one was ordered by mail

scholar is the same as the ds2 disc from the collection but without the special artwork the disc from the trilogy has.

but even still i wouldnt count on them offering to switch it out, i would expect them to just offer you a refund.

As far as I know, this could have been working all last week, as I kept using "mwtapr19" last week to see if anything came up. This morning I decided to spell out the whole month, and voila:

https://www.gamestop.com/trade/Browse/N-0Z1z13laj?Ntt=mwtapril19
I want to say I tried "mwtapril19" last Thursday and Friday and it did not work, so likely started working within the last couple days. Based on this it seems like 3rd Friday of the month is the pattern for the "stealth bump".

So apparently I missed the memo where PUR points are no longer awarded by GameStop for trade-ins. Called customer service this morning and they said it was discontinued last year.

Was wondering why mine weren't posting anymore. 🤔

I just traded some games in last week and I got PUR points for them. I'm elite though. Are you Pro/Elite?

...? I'm still getting points for trade ins. I've never heard of this?

Looks like with the non paid account that might be true (no points for trade ins). Certainly not true for Pro or Elite though. I usually renew if I am about to trade or buy something. My Elite expired last month and I haven't been to GS since. Next trip I will renew though.

https://www.gamestop.com/gs/help/poweruphelp.aspx
Yeah, I've only spent $10 since my Elite expired so haven't had a reason to renew for Pro yet until I can get something for renewing aside from a magazine that might get skimmed through once.

I'm pro and that's what the GS customer service told me. Is there a link somewhere on PUR that shows that we are supposed to get the points for trades? I only get them when I purchase now which just what I see GS claiming on their website.

If you go to the link a few posts up & click on points by membership level, you’ll see it says pro members get 20 points per dollar in trade.

Thanks, missed it.

Edit..call #2 resulted in getting the missing points. I do wonder if it's just this prestige store in question because I've never had problems in the past getting the points to show. Now it's the last 3-4 trades at that one store.

Either way, thanks everyone. 👏

Shame on me for not know but I have to ask.
Can I use a birthday coupon and a $ off rewards on the same item?
I know you can use different denominators with reward certificates but not sure if it works with birthday coupons too

This was probably posted awhile ago, but please don’t buy those expensive versions of Borderlands Game of the Year PS4/One off of EBay. GameStop got another shipment and I ordered mine a couple days ago and it shipped today.

Did the store not ask for your phone number, scan your card (if you still have it,) did not have you input your phone number on the pinpad, or did not get your number from a previous receipt you brought with you? If so then they didn't put in your info for the transaction.

Check your receipt; your PUR account number should be on it just above the barcode.

I've been having issues getting all of my points since the 500 Million PS4 Pro (or at least that was the first time that I noticed it). Every time I call, the rep has no problem seeing the transaction and gives me the points, so I have no idea what the issue is.

Just realized that next week is MK11 and Days Gone. I need to find some good flips so I don't spend much, preferably any money, on these next week.

Stealth bump is live, mpst top tier Switch games are back up to $30 base
That is probably just Switch game prices re-adjusting after they were lowered during the 50% extra TC promo last week. Stealth Bumps pretty much always go live on a Friday. Wii Sports is on the bump list, but went down since yesterday. The non-Switch game bumps will probably kick-in Friday.

I have never seen a stealth bump on a Tuesday before. Now the big question is how long will it last, because it was usually Friday - Monday.

I have a number of switch games from the Prestige B2G1. Should I trade in now or wait until this weekend? Do you think they will go any higher?

I would personally wait until Friday. Those trade values are pretty high as it stands, so I could see the popular titles only gaining a couple extra dollars, if these aren't already the stealth bump prices for switch games.

Yeah pretty sure this is just a readjustment after they tanked values last week. Some of the top tier switch games aren't even all the way back yet. It's a shame there aren't really any promos going on right now to capitalize on the bump tho

At least we have the 20% bumps again. I wish this bump had as many last gen games as last time, though.

What's the refurb fee like on a PS4 controller and at what point will GS not take them? Local woman is selling 5 for $30 that all have "glitches" that may be worth a pick up for some trade credit.

It was there (I'd have noticed the 10% pro bonus missing too). First thing I do is grab my PUR card and DL when trading. Then it's assume the position and wait to be finger printed. 😀

Just make sure you don't trade more than 4 of the same controller within the same 30 day period. That's the way most people mess up on it (I lost count of Wii remotes a few years ago)

They haven't gone above $30 base in quite some time. Even during the last bump, they were $30 base before, during, and after. To be on the safe side, I'd wait just to be sure

I am confuse about this...so do i preorder it and do pick up online on the app or do i preorder this at the store to get the coupon? But I also want to get the 20 percent for trading in games towards it.

Pre-order it in store while you do your trades. You can put as little as $5 dollars down. That will trigger the bump. I am assuming the coupon will be generated after you pick up the game.

this new policy screams gamestop re-selling "gutted" returns as "new" if they so choose lol

this will work out nicely for any games that can played to completion (and enjoyed) that aren't keepers

"Guaranteed to Love it" program. If you return the game within 48 hours of the game's launch you get your money back in the form of Trade-in Credit.
Note that you don't actually get ALL of your money back. It looks like any tax paid on a game is lost and not refunded. You just get a straight $59.99 credit.

Most new releases would also have some sort of bonus/promo, if you were trading a pre-owned game towards. Which means it would be worth looking into using that trade credit ($59.99) on some other game in which you would turn around and trade in towards that new game.

Overall, I suppose the program Gamestop is providing is a good option for consumers. If you bought a dud, it would nearly be impossible to sell it on the second hand market for $59.99 within those two days.

As far as I'm understanding, you're refunded trade credit in a trade transaction...so do you get the points for buying the game AND trading it in for $60? Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't see anywhere that said the game had to be paid for in cash so technically this could just be a vehicle for double points, and extra credit if you're allowed to use certs but still get the full value in trade. Can't wait to see how this one turns out. Just bring back epic rewards quest tbh

You wont be trading the game in, you'll be returning it. It's the same as if you're returning preowned ganes. You'll get points for buying, but they will be taken away when you return.
