Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

I’d forgotten what a crap game Crackdown 2 was until I reinstalled it a few weeks ago. Even free dlc won’t convince me to reinstall ... Crackdown 3, while still disappointing, is still leagues better than 2.

I wonder if the free DLC is more about trying to promote CD3 or if it's like making the multiplayer DLC for all the Halo and Gears games free. I don't think the CD stuff is specifically for multiplayer.

It looks like they made all the avatar stuff for 2 free as well, though it's only for 360 avatars.

The funny thing is Netflix is the reason why some of these smaller streaming services will survive and keep their prices down. There's no way CBS could afford the $150 million per season price tag on Star Trek Discovery with only 2 million subscribers if it wasn't for Netflix footing almost the entire budget in exchange for the international rights. Same goes for the DCU shows that are also Netflix Originals outside the US.

You're right damn. No wonder I saw a whole different catalog when I was in Europe.

I heard Star Trek was like that but I didn't realize DC had stuff in that category as well. I think Better Call Saul is in a similar situation. I'm not sure if I'd call that short-sighted or if these companies just don't think it's going to be feasible to expand out of the US for a while.

Hmm early reports are that the new MK towers/krypt are much worse than IJ2 multiverse.  Long and grindy with minimal rewards, steering you towards microtransactions.

No wonder they sent Shaun Himmerick to announce the crystals a couple of Kombat Kasts ago, he clearly is "the studio guy". You can tell that was probably a mandate from WB Games as they know the game will sell like pancakes.

The one thing I hated about the Injustice 2 multiverse towers was not being able to get the Cat Call ability for Catwoman. They basically locked an achievement behind a RNG algorithm.

Picked up gears/rare at a pawn shop with 2 other games to flip for a total of $8...they had way better games for PS4 but if there’s a game series besides sports games that pawn shops have its gears of war

Gears 4 or the 360 games? I can see the older ones being in pawn shops because how many people wouldn't already have access to them digitally? They were given away with both Gears 1 Ultimate Edition and Gears 4, have been GwG and are available on Game Pass.

The Gears 1 remaster and Rare collection were packaged together for a time, so he probably means that.

Anyone else signed up for a chance to go to Xbox Fanfest which include E3 tickets? Hope to go again this year.

Also I’m eyeing Override Mech game. Wanted a game where my little boy can roam around and smash buildings and this game seem to have an ok single player campaign mode. Gonna look up some more vids for it.

I like watching E3 from home, I always take that Monday off for the conventions but now that Microsoft is on Sunday and Sony isn’t going I’m not sure I need to.

2 microsoft emails in a week and both have dead flowers?

I guess there is a new rumor about Halo Infinite having a Battle Royale mode, so someone from 343 commented about it. One think I feel like 343 shouldn't get overly confident about ahead of times is the quality of their game modes and Forge at launch. They've been doing good with MCC lately but Halo 5 launched missing a bunch of mainstay modes and Forge took months to be added.

"We will not talk about the launch content of Halo Infinite until we're ready. I haven't watched the video so if I am misinterpreting the headline as "'Halo Infinite is launching with/as a Halo Battle Royale mode" that is still not the case. You can probably make your own Battle Royale mode in Forge even right now though. It's a mode not a genre. And all the variants out there now are in my opinion quite radically different from my perspective. Apex vs Fortnite is chalk and cheese - one focuses on movement and map traversal and the other on building and budgeting. Like CTF. BTB Super Fiesta (for example) contains a lot of the shenanigans and emergent fun of that kind of large experience but big sandbox modes are not Battle Royale any more than Oddball is CTF. The launch modes for MP are not 100% defined and are subject to change till quite late in the process - but Battle Rifle will still be there. So you can have BR. But are we interested in big social modes with loads of organic shenanigans? Yes. Specifically A blimp full of survivors heading to an Island after a (metaphorical) lecture from Beat Takeshi? No.

We are NOT doing this as of now - and no plans to -- but Battle Royale could be made for any of the Halo games in MCC or 5 with some content and scripting additions, because it is a mode. It would have limits based on each engine. I'm pointing that out to be clear that it's one of the ways we think about gameplay possibilities rather than a single direction for a title."

3 guest characters, one guest Injustice character, 3 classic MK characters, one WHY returning MK character. It's insane how many leaks this game has had.

^^ It’s been a while and really haven’t messed around much with Forge but could you really do Battle Royale with it? I don’t think so. Maybe with 100 players and last man standing kind of thing but not with closing zone areas and the like that go into a typical BR these days.

That's 9 characters and the Season Pass is only offering 6. Hm.
Either way, all solid additions, especially Spawn (fuckING FINALLY). My hype is back up a bit somewhat but not enough to buy it anytime soon.
Cutting out Cyrax and Sektor when they're in the game was stupid too. Hopefully they're unlocks like Frost.

This game could have been amazing if they did a better job with the base roster, didn't nickel and dime with the gear/Krypt/DLC and go full Puritan with some of the designs.

That's a bloody awesome list of dlc characters for MK11. Can't please everyone, but NetherRealm sure is trying to please the casuals along with the hardcore+bringing in some awesome guest characters. Can't wait till Tuesday to arrive for this game to come out & the remainder of the year for the studio to drop post-release content

I haven't messed with the custom game settings (which would be the more important component here) enough to know, but the customization is pretty good. I think the player limit in Customs is still 16, but it should be possible to make something close. Either FFA settings or possibly a modified Infection, so you can make it 1 life with a last man standing win condition. 16 players, randomized weapon spawns, though I don't know if you can spawn players without a weapon. The hardest thing would be setting something up so players can be totally randomly placed on the map, so it'd either be a hell of a lot of spawn points or a complex structure in the sky that people can "drop" from.

A few scenarios coming to mind:

  1. It would be unprecedented for NetherRealm but MAYBE three of the characters could be added for free since they have microtransactions. I doubt it though.
  2. The Season Pass is only the NR characters, meaning the 5 MK characters and 1 Injustice character. The three guest characters are a separate DLC. Given the high priority nature of guests in the last couple of games I think this is unlikely unless it's sold concurrently with the Season Pass, which would probably cause too much of an uproar for them to try.
  3. Some of these characters were consider for DLC but cut in development. Maybe they were back-ups in case negations on the guests couldn't be worked through.
Finally, I would guess that some of these characters could be non-playable, not-fully-implemented characters from the story or arcade modes, like Baraka in MKX or LizardMan in SoulCalibur VI, but the /DLC/ part of the file structure would seem to debunk that.

MKX had 8 DLC characters, and Injustice 2 had 9. The biggest difference that sticks out to me here is that MK11's season pass is also supposed to come with several Battle Pass that I assume unlock gear/shaders/costumes primarily. Maybe they figured they could charge the same amount as before with less characters due to this, and they're holding three characters for a second smaller DLC pack. Presumably 1 guest and two MK characters.

I guess it's Mortal Kombat night. Another person with an early copy of what appears to be the PS4 version did a breakdown of the single player's modes aside from Story, the kind of stuff you could actually grind long-term, and potential sore spots. Really, a lot of it isn't that useful until we know what they microtransactions actually look like, and see if anything is changed with an early patch. I had heard that there is a day-one patch out already but I don't know on what platforms.

It does detail the Augments system that I hadn't seen before though. Essentially they took the Gear system from Injustice 2 and split it. This way the armor pieces themselves are purely cosmetic, but they now have slots that the actual gameplay affecting stats can be be attached to through Augment pieces.

I just deleted Mortal Kombat X this morning because my fighting game reflexes aren't what they used to be, and I was getting my ass kicked by the computer too many damn times in a row for it to be fun anymore.

Damn, I miss the 90s.

i'm in the same boat, thankfully their is easy mode on some of them, also i have found out it helpful to use an elite and remap the lb/rb to underneath for easier reactions and comfort, helps so much i wont buy a fighting game on another system since its heavens difference

I downloaded Soul Calibur II HD instead since that was one that I know that I can play relatively well. And the extra space on my hard drive is going to Monster Hunter World now. I don't beat myself up anymore if I'm not good at a game. No fighting game related pun intended there.

There is an Indie Darling Bundle Vol3 that just went up.

It's on sale for $10.74 (75% off) for the next 6 days and includes.

1979 Revolution Black Friday

Nefarious

Omega Strike

Shikhondo Soul Eater

All 4 games cost AT LEAST $11.99 on their own. I only played Shikhondo and it's a solid 2D shooter and the bundle is worth it for that alone.
Where is this on sale? Not seeing it on the MS site for the spring sale or weekly deals

edit: NVM. Found it via google. Gonna play Shikhondo immediately

I feel you. I was playing the Street Fighter collection, and was getting dusted by the third or fourth opponent in every game I tried. Even Street Fighter Alpha 2, which I spent countless hours playing on the Saturn! Bah, being in your forties sucks.

The bundle appears at the very bottom of the Xbox One deals tab. It's almost like they didn't really want you to buy it because the deal was too good. And I would get it if I didn't already own two of the games, Omega Strike and Shikhondo: Soul Eater. $2.50 each is a great deal. $5 each for 1979 Revolution Black Friday and Nefarious isn't that good of a deal for me, so I'll wait for them to go on sale individually.

Forget who posted originally, but for anyone stuck on the motocross quest for GP/Rewards, if you get an achievement in the 360 MX game and then close it via the 360 menu rather than the XB1 menu, that seems to trigger it. Had it sit for a week with no update, but I tried it that way after unlocking another achievement and the next day it was done, just had to redeem the points with the last box.

Anybody get the Oprencia quest to unlock? Still waiting on those. Also added Edge to my phone, did the 10 searches, no 500 points. Is Bethesda in charge?

Oprencia glitched for me too. These quests are so hit and miss. There’s a couple that aren’t working for me
