Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

I stumbled upon the link for GamePass specific quests --> https://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-game-pass/quests

Do these quests need to be "activated" or are they just ready to go?
On the Xbox MS Rewards app sometimes tiles have a click to activate button, seems to mostly be the one that requires a purchase. I know for this current month I got an achievement in Golf Club 2019 and it just so happened to work on two different tiles and they were already checked off when I finally looked at them in the app.

Using Bing for MS rewards just makes me realize more and more how pathetic of a search engine it is. I compare the search results from Bing to Google and it’s night and day, especially for news. Sad.

#halo
Agreed. Bing is really bad at predicting locations or related search terms for things that aren't super-obvious. The auto-completes are also kind of nonsensical sometimes. I use it for work-related stuff because it's usually adequate and over 6 months, I'll cash in on gift cards, but I can't imagine ever using Bing exclusively, or without incentive.

I rotate betweening these, but mainly use the custom red one

Ok damn what kind of display thing is that? It's really nice.

I usually cringe at nerdy display but that is really really nice. Also dope choice of controllers and how you laid them out.

Legit impressed.
Thanks! My wife found that shelf at Target a while back. That room is pretty muted in color, so the controllers add a nice pop

Final Fantasy VII received a patch on XB1 and Switch to fix the music bug.  PS4 version seems long forgotten.

FF9 still has the same bug, still unfixed.

Guess I'm the only one using the blue controller?

Edit: I guess not.

Also have a Minecraft Creeper themed one as spare.

I'm using the grey\green controller. I was using the ocean blue, but that slippery feel put me off. The texture on the new makes long sessions better on my hands. Gots all sorts of nerve and pain issues with them. Funny enough that ocean blue started glitching bad shortly after so I feel very lucky I had the spare already

I want that dawn shadow pink controller big time. The cheapest one I could find is on ebay but it's $80 plus shipping. I did some research and found one at a gamestop a 2 hour drive from my brother on the other side of the country and might call them and see if they would send it to the store closer to him but figure it's just wishful thinking.

I'm one bad decision away from collecting these damn things cause they are all so nice. This discussion isn't helping.
If the roles were reversed your money would spend you and everyone you love. Don't let that money win! Spend it before it grows sentient and get's revenge!

Finally some sensible and reasonable advice! I appreciates that about you

Edit: the Rewards App on the Xbox shows a quick four step quest about Red Nose Day. Says you have to donate points as a step, I clicked the button but did not donate and still got credit. It's a super fast 100 points.

I've been back to standard black controller that came with my X. I sent in an Elite controller for repair, and it came back with stick drift that it didn't have have before the repair. Still need to send it back out. Really I don't miss the controller itself much. The only game I felt like a needed the extra buttons for is Halo 5, and I rarely used the special sticks and never the radar d-pad. The things I miss were the metal part of the sticks, the weight, and the ability to customize the button layout with different profiles.

With my heavier play of fighting games lately I'd rather get a controller with a not-shit d-pad, or an arcade stick, than another Elite.

I have no idea what that all really means but it sounds really cool. Can you guys come do our new place?? Lol. Please??
I got a ton of ideas from here when I was first on my own

https://www.apartmenttherapy.com/house-tours

Just pick and choose as you go. 'Form & function' = what's the point of having a piece (cooking ware, furniture, controllers) if you never use it? You should have pieces you enjoy and are functional/serve a purpose

Don't tell this to my backlog, though. It is long, ridiculous, and I really need to hack my way through it. And I'm playing through Dark Souls II a second time because it's more enjoyable then job hunting.

I recently got a Brooks PS4->XB1 adapter to use a DS4 and it's working great so far. I haven't noticed any lag using it wirelessly and the D-pad just feels so much better for fighting games. Only annoying thing is that turning the controller off seems to shut down the adapter, so you have to unplug/plug the stick back in to get the controller talking again (or cycle power on the Xbox).

All this controller talk and I was just about to ask if anyone knew of any good deals on them. Been using the gray one that came with my S and it's starting to have some problems.

Speaking of red nose day, I always tend to find one of these RND wrist bands at gas station floors for free. Always makes me feel good taking and wearing them, like I supported a charity.

Played a bit of the new Castlevania collection. Using the B, Y buttons isn’t too bad FYI
I feel like the developer just used the same button layout that was on the switch, without bothering to notice the buttons are in different positions on XBOX

Honestly I've never been a big fan of PlayStation controllers. I'll probably end up getting something with a six face button set up like the Hori Fighting Commander, though I wish it had a headset jack.

Fair enough. The DualShock 4 is a huge improvement over previous PlayStation controllers, and I love the D-pad and shoulder buttons on it. For me it's more comfortable to hold than the XB1 controller (which I feel is a step down from the XB360 controller as far as comfort goes). I couldn't imagine playing through something like Celeste with the XB1 pad.

I've had my eyes on the Hori fightpads forever. I've always been turned off by the reports of the d-pad wearing out quickly (don't know how true that is), and it being wired.

I know I'm late to the party, but I switch between the Project Scorpio controller that came with my X and a Xbox Design Lab controller that my wife made me. It is a combo of purple, green, orange, and white as an homage to both the Joker and how I designed my Spartan to look in Halo 3 back in the day.

And as for the Castlevania Anniversary Collection, I played around with it some earlier and didn't have much of a problem using the A and B buttons. Still more naturaal for me to use A to jump but it wasn't horrible.

I can’t stand PlayStation controllers. Even the DS4. It’s just one of the myriad of reasons I prefer my X1X despite having owned every Sony console since the PS2.

The DualShock design was dated during the PS2 years. It's a joke that they ran it back again for PS3 after the backlash to the batarang controller reveal.

Is anybody using a Hyperkin Duke, unironically? What an abomination. There's a mountain of them at Fry's collecting dust with the stack of PlayStation Classics.

I absolutely LOATHE PlayStation controllers. I always feel like they are about to snap in my hands. For whatever reason, this was especially true for the DS4. One of the reasons I only have a X1X now.

I have only used the black controller that came with my Xbox One, Xbox One S and Xbox One X.

Every black controller is the same right? I think I read somewhere that the controller that came with the Xbox One S was upgraded a bit. If so, any way to check what version controller you have?

In other news I have to vote today (Australia), fun for me.

In Australia a lot of places where you vote have a Sausage Sizzle set up. There is also a site someone made that shows where to vote that also shows what places are doing the sausage sizzle.

The biggest revision that I'm aware of is being able to plug in a headset directly without an adapter.

I also have simple tastes - 1 white and 1 black controller.

I have Minecraft Creeper, Minecraft Pig, Blue, and White. Creeper for me, Pig for my wife, and the other two for guests.

I've never actually played Minecraft but the controllers were cheap and look cool so I figured why not?

This discussion makes me want to get back into collecting controllers. I have 7 myself, but 3 are the standard black ones, and I only use the stock XB1 controller with my VCR model Xbox on my 1080p LCD. Gaming like its 2013, try and keep up y'all!

Speaking of controllers, I ordered the SOT one last year and got a white one from Walmart that was on sale as a backup and didn’t open it and I gave it to my son a few weeks ago and the plastic was coming apart on the sides and it randomly disconnects.

Moral of the story I should’ve checked it when i got it.

I use sports white only. I have a sports red as well, but haven't opened it. The grip on the sports controller does it for me. I also tried phantom black, and I hated the finish on it.

In case anyone didn’t see the thread, CDKeys has The Division 2 for $32.99. Decided to grab it and sell my disc.

Thanks for the headsup, yeah that ended up being my jump in price. Console sharing partner on board didn't hurt.

I don't love the PS4 controller, but dual analog did lead the way back in the day to what we have now from basically everyone. 360/xbox one controller still my all time fav design, and I do love the back paddles on my elite even for a simple setup like clicking in on the left or right stick, about my default profile for 90% of games.

One thing I'm always amused at with the PS4 is the little speaker in the controller, taking it back to the Nintendo Japanese Famicom days. I love the "ting" noise when you hole a putt in Everybody's Golf.

I don't know why, but I really like that you got a pig controller for your wife. Even the guests don't get that treatment.

Guess I'm the only one using the blue controller?

This is the main controller I have with the Xbox One X controller that came with it as the backup. I haven't seen any of the other color or designs for the Xbox One controller that were any good to me and worth the extra money, as I've only gotten extra XB1 controller while they're on sale. The DS4 has had much better special designs for me with the great PS1-style DS4 and the translucent dark blue 500 million controller.

I don't really have any issues with the controllers itself outside of the amazing lack of screenshot button even after a couple of new models since the launch that gave them the option to add one to keep up with the others. I can never remember which side the hamburger or boxes buttons are on when games prompt me for them, which is why I prefer the set-up on the DS4 with the giant map button and options button for the options menu.
