Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

I guess I'm going to re-download Walking Dead Collection tonight. I don't think I'll have an issue since the rights transferred but I didn't realize the game was already delisted in April alongside Game of Thrones. I don't really want to permanently eat up space for all of the Telltale stuff I have but it seems like we won't have a choice if we don't get the official announcements that we should.

https://www.trueachievements.com/n37481/april-2019-delistings-telltale-games-wwe-2k-and-more

This whole Telltale thing is a real shit show.  I wouldn't have believed that notice about not being able to download the games if there weren't already issues with downloading Minecraft and GOT.  I had to use the Canadian store links to download the Minecraft episodes.

Depending on what features you have to have, you can do even better. I just price matched a 400 series TCL 55" at Best Buy to Walmart who has it on sale for $299. I got it for our regular TV viewing in the living room, no game systems attached - but damn if it isn't nice (especially for the price). Great picture, really nice features and it does Roku better than an actual Roku stick. You can even attach a thumb drive and rewind live broadcast TV (which it integrates along with the Bluray into the Roku ecosystem seamlessly).
Not a knock, but the 600 R series is probably worth the price difference for the full array black light for local dimming HDR stuff alone if anyone ever plans on using that. Just some info.

This. Definitely worth the extra bucks for the local dimming. I’d get the other models for bedrooms and secondary TVs but as my main TV, I’d prefer higher quality HDR. Would love a high end OLED if I could afford it but if I’m going lower, just a tad more is worth it IMO.

Goddamit, just when I'm getting all comfy with digital, this shit happens and reminds m when this thread was filled with people calling them 'extended rentals'.
This is why people were so upset with the original plans for the Xbox One, and I think the fear should be much more potent for if more companies shift primarily to streaming like Stadia plans too. Stadia especially is worrisome since Google has demonstrated dozens of times just how willing they are to kill a service if it isn't performing in the exact way they want, or a "better" alternative is created.

While there are a lot of advantages or conveniences to digital, and I love the great discounts that digital tends to do better than physical, these fears are why I've tried to stay primarily physical on at least the big retail games. The rise of live service games on the good end or "lets ship this trash and fix it with a day one patch" have erroded the near absolute advantage physical had in this regard during the last gen, but a quick look at the 49 physical games I have on the shelf still makes me think it's worth it. Of them, only Overwatch and Destiny would be totally worthless without servers, though at least 5 or 6 more would be pretty busted without any patches. Telltale's shitty business practice of selling their more recent games as only one episode with a season pass for the rest is probably the most egregious fuck-you to the consumer this generation, though I might put Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 above it for basically only having a demo on disc and requireing a "patch" that is the majority of the game. Telltale's strategy there makes sense in hindsight, but it doesn't make these games any more available now.

Still, Xbox One was forever handicapped by their terrible initial plans, so hopefully these servers will stay up in at least some legacy format for the long term. If you buy a brand new Xbox One or need to factory reset for some reason, you NEED to connect to Microsoft's servers and sign in with an Xbox Live account or the system is totally worthless, you can't even get to an offline dashboard.

I believe that's the case with all of these telltale games. The ones that have already been delisted are completely unavailable as far as i know
If true, that is seriously bullshit, and I will demand a refund for any game I've paid for that I can no longer download.

I wonder if Microsoft will do pity refunds for the old Telltale games. Telltale is dead so it's not like they can refund us themselves. I don't know if there has been a situation like this on Xbox, the only thing coming to mind is P.T. on PS4, but that was a free demo. Maybe Too Human back on 360, did that ever have a digital version? When 38 Studios died Kingdom's of Alumar stayed up for sale, but it was because the rights transferred to Rhode Island, and EA themselves were fine.

The only delisted games on Steam that we have people saying doesn't work on Xbox are Game of Thrones and Minecraft, I think. The GoT forums and reviews don't say anything about it being removed from their libraries, just not available for new purchases. Minecraft has people posting the article, but no official notice beyond the removal from sale.

All this talk of Telltale shite going down made me rush out to Gamestop to buy a used copy of Batman: Enemy Within so I could download all the episodes on the season pass disc. Can confirm - all eps are installed and ready to play on my HDD. Now to return the used copy sometime tomorrow

June GwG are meh. Portal Still Alive is the standout, though I bought that day one back in the 10's. Bonus levels are nice, however going for all the achievements is rough. If I recall, there is an achievement for only going thru one colored portal the ENTIRE game. Think I made it half way thru and said f-this. Going back to Gears 2

I would do Portal. Still alive all over agin instead of still having to do all the medals in The Orange Box..those are the last 3 Achievements I'm missing from the whole Orange Box... Still Alive, was far easier.

Also sooo glad I fninsihed Gears 2 waaay back xp The only Gears I haven't finished is 3 (The Onyx Medla Achievement) and Ultimate (yet, still goging for 10.000 kills)

I just wish 7 days to die had gotten one more big update :/ I put in so much time into that game...so much lol.

Goddamit, just when I'm getting all comfy with digital, this shit happens and reminds m when this thread was filled with people calling them 'extended rentals'.
I wouldn't take it as the sky is falling, the issue with Telltale is in their game development philosophy itself. It wouldn't of made any difference if you bought it digital or on a disc that would still be a coaster unless you just want to play episode 1 over and over.

Hey! I think that was me! And I was probably talking about Game Pass, but when you think about it, every game purchase is an "extended rental" because you can't take them with you in the end. :oldman:

Not a knock, but the 600 R series is probably worth the price difference for the full array black light for local dimming HDR stuff alone if anyone ever plans on using that. Just some info.
Oh no doubt it is a better TV, but it really depends on what you are looking for. I got the 400 series because of the price, I don't even have anything 4k enabled hooked up to it (other than streaming in the built in Roku), let alone HDR. There will never be any game systems hooked up to it, nor serious media equipment. My wife doesn't even want anything like a sound bar for it because of the decor in that room. She wants a decent TV to watch during the day and in the evening and it serves that purpose easily.

We have the man cave for the serious media needs. Watching movies, playing games, etc. Right now I have a 1080p 3D 60" TV in there. Based on what I've seen so far, I'll eventually replace that with a current model 65" TCL in a year or so. I'd like to have an upgrade in time for the next generation of systems.

Yeah, the 400/S series are good for non-picky people. My MIL had her TV (Black Friday Samsung Plasma from years ago) develop atrocious burn-in, so we got her a cheaper TCL for Christmas. Looks pretty decent! I'm sure I'd start to nitpick watching a dark movie on it in a darkened room, but, hey, not my tv. And no fear of abuse leading to BI.

That about sums up my feeling, too. So many games, so little time. I don't think the Telltale stuff is worth getting FOMO over.

That being said, if I had already bought them I would be pissed if they disappeared from my account or if the disks stopped working. I can emphasize with people there.

Anyone here own World War Z? Just wondering if you can turn down the dialogue. Watched a lot of gameplay and its really annoying. Thanks for any help.

My inner 6 year old self was thrilled with Godzilla. My outer <redacted> year old self was happy with it, too.
That’s cool. I only ever really enjoyed the cartoon from about a million years ago. I never got into the movies.

OT, is your script still broken? I imagine they felt the need to finally fix it to prevent things from showing that are supposed to pop as e3 announcements.

I think that was my introduction to the character.

A TV station in Philadelphia (now their Fox affiliate) had a movie block on Saturday afternoons in the 80s called Theater Bizarre that ran monster movies, which is where I saw the films. A channel in New York City also had a tradition of running a bunch of them on the Friday after Thanksgiving. I probably watched some then, too, though I don't remember that. I do remember watching their King Kong / Son of Kong / Mighty Joe Young marathon on Thanksgiving itself.

The marketplace still isn't showing the countdown data. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it will go back to the old method and show the Monday countdowns once we get within 24 hours of the drop.

The wife and I have spent the last few nights playing through Death Squared, which was GWG in July 2018... very glad I finally booted it up before just deleting it to make space on the hard drive.  It's a nifty co-op puzzler that has us ready to kill each other one minute, and pumping our fists in the air the next.

I kind of think that these Telltale games will eventually revert back to their rights holders and DC/Warner, HBO/Warner, 2K/Gearbox, Mojang/Microsoft and Marvel/Disney will just republish them again themselves. That is assuming TT sold the games outright back them to get rid of some of their debt or whatever .

I have all the Telltale games digitally except Guardians of the Galaxy and Minecraft

I'm confused, we can't even download them anymore?

All this talk of Telltale shite going down made me rush out to Gamestop to buy a used copy of Batman: Enemy Within so I could download all the episodes on the season pass disc. Can confirm - all eps are installed and ready to play on my HDD. Now to return the used copy sometime tomorrow
Can you actually play them without the disc? I know my PS4 version required the disc to play any of the downloaded episodes.

Anyone here have problems with the ID@Xbox quest on the punch card? I've gotten a few achievements in excess of the four I should need to complete the card, but they're not flagging the last achievement as completed for whatever reason. (The first three? All good.)

I wish they just added rewards quests as big games come out instead of waiting until some arbitrary date the next month to add them, as this month doesn't even have a "complete all quests this month to get X points" to give the excuse for not doing that. It leads to me wanting to not play much of the games I want to play just in case they appear a few weeks later.

at this point a lot of games use the physical copies as unlock keys for the actual game.

so even if you have the game in front of you still doesn't guarantee it'll work.

OMG! they took my WWE 2k games off my Ready to Install list...i was able to get 2k18 and 2k16 back but not 2k17 and WWE 2k15 the last WWE game with CM Punk and Hulk Hogan :(

I Saw Godzilla. I'm glad the Kaiju got a better script this time, but the human characters were even more dumb then the last movie, which is kinda amazing. The best part is the dramatic zoom in when Godzilla stared right into the camera. I Think I laughed for a solid minute.

I had that thought too but I think the fact that Telltale died because pretty much all of these games sold like shit is a factor here. Why re-publish something that so few people were seemingly interested in? Maybe if they can put them up as is, but it any work is needed it may not be worth the cost.

These numbers are only Steam but they really didn't look good.

I think Let's Play videos actually affect the sales for the TT style games.  The Batman TT games were massive bombs, but a single streamer has millions of views for his Batman LP videos.  Hard to sell games when you can get 90% of the experience for free on YouTube.

From your spoiler, I remember TA showing a similar chart of how many people played the Telltale games. Basically, after season 1 of the walking dead, it was all downhill quick with the exception of Tales From The Borderlands which was GWG and probably picked up some Borderlands fans too.

Looks as Microsoft is going to have a daily sale of movies and TV shows for the next 7 days. Rotation on what's on sale each day.
We have Die Hard Collection for Cad $20 and Super Trooper 2 movies for $10 CAD, I really wished we had the 4K movie sale and Rick and Morty sale that the US had.

Crazy that the BttF and JP games that pretty much no one had heard of before TWD did better than the generally well regarded Batman: Enemy Within. Just goes to show how little good will and trust TT had left among consumers after not updating their tired engine for so long and sales/GWG announcements shortly after releasing the season pass, etc.

I hate holding off on newly games added to Gamepass because of the way they do the quests. It’s typically three or four games that have quests they added a month prior.

There may be a lot of truth to this. It actually makes me understand better why so many publishers want their games to have a MP element to them. It is something that can't be replicated consistently on YouTube, Twitch, or Mixer. I'm honestly guilty of watching cutscene videos for games that I won't be able to get for awhile.

I tried to play this morning via the disc, but the synching of the previous game's save data/choices kept going to 99% and then reloading. Soooooo, I'm screwed regarding all the decisions I made before??? I dunno. Let out a heavy sigh and then left to GS to return the disc. Maybe I'll try to play w/o the disc, but part of me thinks the save data I tried to import was corrupted. I'll go back to Sea of Thieves and Mortal Kombat 11 for the time being

I just checked security cameras at your theater, you laughed for 54 seconds

If it pleases the court, check the footage again once the credits began to roll and I explained that scene to my friends and began laughing again thus adding an additional 6 seconds in total. NOW I'M NO FANCY CITY LAWYER, BUT I DECLARE THAT TO BE A SOLID MINUTE OF LAUGHTER.

It probably depends on how that specific game imports the data. I know with Walking Dead back on 360 it would just check for a save on your hard drive like normal, but in Season 3 I had to make some kind of Telltale account and import with some server middleman system. I assume that is already fucked, though maybe that was only needed for 360 to One transfers?

New quests are up

Wolfenstein 2: TNC- complete any 2 achievements for 200 points

Life is Strange- complete 4 achievements from any episode for 400 points

MvC Infinite, Minecraft, Prey, The Golf Club 2, Monster Hunter: World, The Walking Dead A New Frontier, Life is Strange 2: Episode 2 and Resident Evil 5- Play recently added games for 100 points

Cities: Skylines, Farming Sim 17, ABZU and Zoo Tycoon: Ultimate Animal Collection- Complete at least 1 achievement from each game for 400 points

Also, today is bing's bday. Some extra points are up for grabs and a contest to win a surface pro or some traveling money. Put the guide and reddit link in spoiler tags.

Loading up Bing.com today (1am 6/3/2019 in U.S. for reference,) a banner over the homepage shows the above title.

Click on said banner.
The number 10 is created with various bing homepage photos, mixed in are green/blue/teal maybe? Lol postcards with the bing medal icon on them.
Click on one, pop up box says congrats you earned 20 pts. Click to redeem.
Once on your dashboard click the huge celebration box for 20 points.
Points are added and you are routed back to the celebration page.
There are a total of 4 of these bing cards for a total of 80 points (edit/ seems to be at least 200 points as others have stated!) follow the above routine for the rest and the points are all yours!
I have only just glanced at this and got my 80 points, we all know how sneaky Microsoft can be with their emails and other ways of hooking us up, so who knows if there is something else more to be had buried in the photos! Post any and everything you find! Hope this helped!
EDIT* Ricardinho0825 Said “ actually got 200 points from the page. Instead of manually searching for the postcards, I opened a random photo and kept clicking right. Every time 20 points show up, I collected them.”

YOU CANT HANDLE THE TRUTH!!

For those who've also thought about it, I got a USB hub to minimize my cord clutter. I've got a 4TB powered external, 500gb SSD, USB headset dongle plugged in the hub with Kinect in the other back port. Solid $10 investment.

Godzilla was damn good. I was expecting more monster action based on what I was hearing, but it was like the last ~30 years of films. Plot carries through from the last and the monsters are a through-line but not as much of a focus. I loved the ending, reminded me of 2003 G vs Kiryu. My wife teared up a few times, I did a little at the first big fight but mine was from joy at seeing proper kaiju fights on a big screen (full IMAX).
