GS FAQ

How many copies of a game can I trade in?
You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of the same game (same system) within a rolling 30 day period.

What do I need to trade in an older console?
The console, power cable, av cable, and controller. Sometimes they don't care about USB charge cable but ymmv. 3DS XL trade would be console, charger, and stylus. Some have reported being charged a refurb fee for missing the stylus, but again ymmv (answer stolen from anarchyburger)

FAQ will be entered when those questions get asked frequently.

Does the Pro Membership B2G1 coupon apply to only games, or accessories as well?
The coupon applies to both games and accessories, per the wording on the coupon.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free. Typically refers to the coupon you receive when becoming Pro.
GCU/BB: Gamer’s Club Unlocked, Best Buy
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

I've never asked for something like this until today. There was an item that I really wanted that is unavailable on the website and I noticed that a store in another state had it. My guy called them and they are shipping it to my store for me to purchase. Another great survey coming from me when I get it.
Store to store shipping is still a thing? The guys in my area told me the company doesn't do that anymore. My area has got to be wack as hell.

I guess it depends on who is running your store. Thankfully the people at mine are always very nice and said if there's anything else I ever wanted to let him know and he would get it on the way.

Some stores won't do it because the shipping store will often dump crap that they cant sell on the receiving store.
the first store I showed him that had the item in stock, he said there's no point in asking them because it was a ThinkGeek store and they never send anything to Gamestop

Thanks to y'all for the recent tips on the 4 for $10 flips AND the $2 VR headset counting as a console purchase with 2+ preowned games being 25% off. I found NUMEROUS headsets so it was easy to take advantage of that sweet deal.

I was able to get Fallout 4 for $4.73, Prey for $6.75 (LOVING IT, def recommend), and Fallout 76 for $13.50 (was interested in this with all the new content incoming.) Obviously I also had to pay for the $2 VR headset, but even then, the amount I made from the flips, plus the amount I saved on the 25% off used games made it absolutely worth it. I actually picked up two copies of 76 so me and a bud could play. SO it really was worth all the back and forth and hunting for the headset.

As always, y'all are the best and I thank you for helping out a poor grad student who sometimes has time for gaming haha.

Keep it up, I appreciate you all.

I know for a fact that in the past their system has automatically generated reward certificates on a timed basis - effectively wasting 25Kish points I had stored. I complained in passing to a nearby store manager about it and was just told that I'd have to keep up on it, as their system is continually updating (getting worse, he should have said).

I'm almost certain that I looked through my past emails and was given no notice that the above had happened, also. I believe it was just done internally on their website, and no notifications were given solely to blow through the points of cheap-asses like myself.
Don't being pro/elite member allow you to bank point?

I was checking my PUR history and noticed:

What does that mean?  Thanks in advance!

For anyone in or around Canada, EBGames Canada has B1G2 on PS3 and Xbox360 games today only, June 18.

I checked my Active Offers and i have a "Receive $15 Off Switch White/Red Wireless Pro Controller". I received an email about a week ago, but it didn't state that it had to be the White/Red Pro Controller. Has anyone else received this offer and if so, were you able to redeem it on any Pro Controller?

They're targeted active offers. I've tried redeeming them for guests on all of them. The only work on the white and black power a pro controller.

Why he never finds anything to great. But I’ve only been watching his videos for about a month or so.
Well he first started off by filming inside dumpsters which is okay but his finds were way too good to be true for just one location. He either dove around a ton and collected shit then rebagged it and opened it for views or he bought shit and rebagged it with GameStop stuff. Any diver will tell you there are nights you don’t find shit especially when it rains but no not for speedy he constantly found good stuff. Then he switches over to showing you finds from his backyard. Which is plain ol bs. Anyone can toss a bunch of crap video game shit and say they found it in a dumpster, you’ve gotta be a moron to believe this. Literally you or I can do the same thing. He builds up a following of a million subs. Starts a gaming channel n twitch and can now afford to not find amazing shit that he rebags or buyscause he knows you will be watching regardless of what is found and he’ll be racking in the dough. Think a bit. It’s all about that YouTube money.

Wow, I didn't know that guy had a million subs. I will admit that while I don't care for dumpster diving videos I did go down the rabbit hole of 'I used to work for Gamestop" youtube stories, and so far my favorite is Camelot331 and his stories about his former manager "egg"...and he does all the shady things you would believe a Gamestop manager did.
I like Fantavision. his tales of retail series is pretty funny, has some gamestop in there as well. only learned of cag cause of him. Thanks fanta wherever you're at!

I've been watching Camelot for about a month now. He's got some nice stories lol

I've seen a few of Fantavision and others stories. As someone who worked at Gamestop for a decade I can say most of these stories aren't far from my own experience. Working at Gamestop was a soul crushing experience for sure, especially in management.

IF you get it, big IF. I had a game I wanted and found it at several other gamestops. the guy at my store called them all, only one agreed to ship it. But as of two weeks later, we still haven't gotten it. there really is absolutely no incentive for them to bother.

Makes me wish Game Crazy was still in business. As you could special order games you're looking for(for around $5 extra) from their chain of stores and it would ship back to that store for pick up.

I need a new trade promo really badly. Trying to get rid of these 2 copies of Dark Souls Trilogy. I can't sell them on ebay as discs only because most of the value is from the steelbook which GS didn't send me.  :wall:

I guess we'll see. They both sounded like it was going to ship out yesterday. I'll update in a couple days and see what happens. It wasn't a game so maybe I'll get it. Plus I don't want to have to pay resell when I can use store credit

Online items have a longer return window.
Idk about that dude. I'm almost afraid of trying though. I remember when I went to my local store and bought some switch games to flip but it didn't work out. I had to return them on the last day and the cashier gave me such an attitude about "renting the games". I don't even have a switch. I bought the 2 DS trilogy on 5/28 so it's been a while since I had them.

Find some locally with steel book and return generic GameStop case ones with that receipt to a different store. Problem solved

Got my cheap copy of Asura Wrath for 360 in from gamestop for $7 ish, which is probably the cheapest atm with microsoft itself selling for $20... why are people calling for death of gamestop again?

Asuras wrath is a good game
Too bad Capcom decided to sell players the actual ending through dlc.

They don't. Their policy clearly says 7 days. You could end up in an argument with an employee as to whether they mean 7 days from shipment or from delivery (should always be from delivery). It hasn't been 30 days for quite some time now.

I can only say that I've actually returned the same exact item he's trying to return. I'm looking at the receipt right now, and it lists the packing slip number and date, which is more than 7 days. If online orders are limited to 7 days now, it wasn't restricted by the POS.

It all depends on what he's returning. If its preowned, then yes, it's 7 days. New then 30 days.
I mean you guys can do what you want but it has always been 30 days for online items, even preowned. It makes no sense to have it be 7 days since orders often take that long to even get delivered. I especially doubt they'd argue with someone over that specific return since the games didn't come with the steelbook...which is kind of the point of ordering that version.

I can vouch for 30 days for online items. Have never had an issue returning online items within 30 days.

Was able to find a GBA SP ags-101 on Ebay for $45. Not sure if I should keep it, gba games are expensive now. Could always get a flash cart.

YMMV. I've gotten shit for trying to return something 8 days after ordering, despite it taking 3 days to receive. Even the GameStop subreddit is a cesspool of employees that will argue this back and forth. Since there is no written rule whether it's 7 days after it's ordered or received (though honestly I could see them arguing there's no way to prove when I received it), some like to be garbage people and deny it.

I worked at GameStop and knew to take care of the customer, there is no need to be a miserable person. So it's especially irritating when I know they can EASILY help or remedy a situation and choose not to.

Every online order has a tracking number that literally says when an item was received.

Anyone have the link for unused points based on your email or number? I know I did it before but can't find the email where they sent the certificate for what I had unused.
