Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

More has come out on that Borderlands 3 shutdown. They're alleging that he left a lot of info out of his video and basically say they have more concrete reasons for going after him. That said, they are the giant corporation so it's hard to take what they say seriously. I don't necessarily think what they're saying he did was really against the ToS of anywhere except maybe Twitch, but even then I don't necessarily think so. I doubt he himself is in the wrong with the law or they would probably go after him in court, which is probably why the private investigators were trying to pry his sources out of him. I don't think 2k or TakeTwo particularly care about how they're precieved too much, since their bigger games are too mainstream to really be affected by this shit, and they've done similar things in the past.

Even if the Youtuber did leave out some of this info, it's really not cool that they actually sent people to his house in this manner, trying to get the source. It really seems like that should be a remote investigation done internally and online.

https://www.ign.com/articles/2019/08/07/take-two-addresses-investigation-into-borderlands-3-streamer-leaks

I've been "granted" leave before.... I don't think it's happy times over there at the moment
Schreier is one of maybe two writers that they have there that are actually viewed as good, there is no way he is not on leave voluntarily. The only way Kotaku losses him is if goes out on his own, based on some of his statements I don't think he'd do that any time soon.

His first book is well regarded and I'm pretty sure sold well. It would make sense both money and career-wise to take the time off if needed to get the second one done.

I played about an hour of Metro Exodus last night thinking I could double dip the quest for this and the weekly card.
Easily one of, if not the dullest first hour of a game ever. NPC talk to you a lot while you just listen. You get to walk around in a straight line and sometimes get to crawl in your belly.
I’m still not sure if this is supposed to be an action FPS or a stealthy/kinda scary game. Whatever it is, it doesn’t do it very well.

Yeah I’ve tried to play all metro games to no success. Finally deleted them all from my Xbox. I started exodus also, quit, and blamed the bland gameplay on it being tied so closely to books. Stupid books.

I played Exodus to where it starts to pick up, where you find out more about your girls dad.  It is funny in the intro that it may as well have been a movie.  Even the part where you and your girl are fighting baddies, it's best to just hang back and let her pick everyone off, and she does so with great precision.  I think the game has an interesting enough story that I will go back but right now I'm getting into My Time at Portia which is turning out to be a really good almost Stardew Valley / Rune Factory clone.  Just finished the first game week and I think it has its hooks in me.

Just a reminder, 5 PM PST is the deadline to buy Ducktales Remastered for Xbox One. I have never played the game before and the physical version is more than $3.74 so I might as well buy it before it's gone.

Re: BL3 Leaker
I was 100% on his side until it was discovered that he charged people access to his Discord ($5 YouTube sub) for "further leaks". I just assumed "monetizing trade secrets" meant getting views on YouTube (which is totally fair imo).
I can kinda get why they went after him and banned his Discord now.
I still think sending investigators to his home was over the line, but he's lucky if that's the end of it.
Take Two is known for being huge douchebags about leaks in general, and I'm pretty sure they've sued leakers before.

I played it the past two nights and had good connection. The main issue I have with Cataclysm is the "final mission" (it's replayable and meant to be, but linked to the new missions story-wise). There are no waypoints so you have no idea where you're supposed to go. The things you're supposed to do are not obvious. It's also on a timer so if your team/randoms can't figure out what to do, it's possible to end the activity without accomplishing much. I personally think that's poor design, but some on reddit would argue that you can't expect to get the best loot without putting some effort in. I say BS to that; in this case, imo, it's poor game design.
Yeah having puzzles that absolutely require 2 people kinda sucks. I was in a mission for 10 minutes just spamming for someone to come get this stupid orb i revealed by stepping on a pressure sensor.

That's a new low. I have no regrets getting it last time for $20 and trading in my physical for $26 or so. It's definitely one that will continuously go lower on cdkeys, but it's well worth the current price.

Just purchased an Xbox one X, looks like I just missed a capcom sale last week.
Don't worry, another one is always just around the corner...

anyone play Vigor i see it has a free play weekend
I played the last free weekend a little bit and found it to be enjoyable. It lacks the name and polish of the bigger BR games, but it has a unique spin on the idea which I enjoyed more. Instead of a standard BR, you have continuous equipment that you want to upgrade each time you play. You have to balance your loadout with good equipment to win, but space for loot. You scavenge for loot and loot enemies and then you have to extract. You have a base you can build and upgrade as well. It's probably for the best that it will be ftp when it releases.

I have to gush about this somewhere, so here goes.

I travel a lot for work and have talked about taking a console with me before. I have my spare 360 from Black Friday which works well enough, but it's always offline on the road because the OS doesn't support splash pages in hotels. The place I stay most often has ethernet, which I need to access work-related things over a secure connection, but it's not convenient for everything.

I just got a portable router which can function as a WiFi bridge and also use an ethernet connection to connect to WiFi. I have my laptop and tablet connected to it, and it's almost as fast as my connection at home. My 360 can use it, too. For anyone who travels a lot and needs a better networking solution in hotels, I'm very pleased with my purchase, and it'll make gaming on the road better too.

I'm losing my mind trying to figure out WTF Microsoft is doing with alphabetizing games in my library. I have two consoles, and games show up under different letters on them! Skyrim is under S on one, E on another. That free demo for Captain Awesome or whatever it is called is under A on one console, and C on another. One console has a "&" category that lists #IDARB and Observer, the other does not so they are under I and O respectively. Splinter Cell Conviction is under S on one and T on the other. What's more mind boggling, some games are under the same letter, but not in the same spot. Assassin's Creed Syndicate is kind of in the middle of all the other AC games I own on one console, and listed either last or second to last on another. Rainbow Six Vegas is under T for both consoles, but on one it is bizarrely next to other games that start with Ta instead of with the rest of the Tom Clancy games.

I'm losing my fucking mind over here. Did I say that already?

Anyone picking up Borderlands 3 next month?
Yes! I put so many hours into the first two, I’m in for another round! I loved all the DLC in the 2nd one, cant decide if I should just go all in for the $100 pack. With Bing point gift cards it will chop down the price.

Are your consoles in different "Insider" rings?

Absolutely. I'm one of those people who hopes that it is MORE OF THE SAME. Yes, i'm the problem people hate with sequels like this (at least this sequel).

Also, i'm one of those people sitting here gripping the edge of my seat hoping that Randy Pitchford (and whoever else) doesn't burn the place down before the game or future stuff gets released.

I couldn’t get into borderlands 2 after finished the goty of pt 1 recently

I’ll probably wait til I buy borderlands 3

Borderlands 3 is the first Xbox game I’ve been hyped for since Halo 5. I’m not much of a Gears person. Had I known what Apex was and how much I’d like it I would have been hyped for it. Switch has had a few games I’ve been hyped for. Sucky thing is, I’ll be traveling the day it comes out so I’ll be a little bit behind on Borderlands.

Off topic: Seahawks play tonight, glad to have the NFL back while I wait for Hockey to start.

That's the one Im getting from BBY with GCU, some certs and a g/c. $30 out of pocket

Zero hype for Borderlands 3. Soo many guns that getting new ones doesn't really feel like an accomplishment. Tried to hate finish 2 and I couldn't.

Can't wait for Gears 5 and Outer Worlds though.

So, people are really so into Borderlands that they would pay someone $5 just to hear about rumors and shit?
I'm pretty sure he was giving access to private Twitch accounts of people playing it/testing it. Which is why he got in trouble and his discord shut down.

But yeah $5 to watch someone else play and spoil the game? *Shrug*

I used to love Borderlands but I was one of the people effected by that character corruption glitch in 2 and I was over 6 days played in, took them over a year to fix it and kept claiming every patch was gonna fix it until it actually did.

By then I was so turned off from the game I didn’t even play the dlc even though I owned them all.

I am also picking up Borderlands 3 day one. I love the series.

Still not sure which console I will pick this up on. A friend and I played a lot of BL2 and a decent amount of Borderlands GOTY. Another friend and I played a TON of BL2 as well. Both are on PS4. Our schedules never seem to sync though.

I have $35 I think in BBY and still have GCU. I also have a bunch of 20% off credit on Live. Getting physical for one of the consoles for sure. Undecided if I am going to wait on the DLC. Last game I went all in on the $100 version was Gears 4. Which dropped quickly in price and I didn't play for long anyway.

Maybe I missed it in the discussion but emails went out for Bing members on Wednesday to get bonus points for referring a family or friend and have them complete 1 punchcard.  The amounts varied, my newer one got 250 points but my main one got 50 points for the referral and 5000 points if they complete a punchcard!  Up to 3 people, I have some imaginary friends I can count on to complete them and 15,000 would  go a long way toward the next time the year of gold goes on sale or nearly $20 xbox credit when they do the $5 for 4000 points.

EDIT It's 5 referrals not 3, so as much as 25,000 points plus the 250.  I have a few co-workers who will do it for me when I get back from vacation next week, it does run until the end of the month so I will legit try to get 5 people so I don't risk my account being banned.

It beats downloading a game on gamepass and spending hours sometimes for just a couple hundred points.

Anyone play age of wonders planet fall yet? What are your thoughts on it? I read it’s a faster pace civilization meets xcom game, which is right up my alley. Hoping for it to come to gamepass or just drop in price fast.

I might go back for another play through on a higher difficulty. I thought the game really picked up after the first 1/3rd. I really didn't enjoy the beginning that much.

I still need to finish Gears 4...
I’m on chapter 2 of Gears of War (1)..... at what point do you just give up? The atmosphere and everything seems cool and all. The thing I struggle with is how clunky the movement feels. Titanfall, Titanfall 2 and even Apex Legends have spoiled me with fluid movement that feels quick. Even Halo and CoD feel like quick smooth movement.

So I forced myself through the campaign, cause Xbox and gears gears gears, and I’m now ruined for all Gears. I’ll start 5 cause game pass but I doubt I’ll finish it.
