I managed to play like 10 hours of Gears yesterday, by changing my console location to New Zealand and getting access around 12 EST. Have to work til 8 today and tomorrow so wanted to make some progress on my day off. 

I really like the campaign. While it has some traditional linear Gears levels, there are also massive exploration hubs that you can spend a LOT of time in, with side-quests and light resource-based leveling of abilities. I hesitate to say open-world because there is very little to do between the actual explore-able locations, though there are special items hidden locations that aren't on the map occasionally. The closest comparison for me are the big Halo 1 levels like Halo, Silent Cartographer, or Assault on the Control Room, but cranked to 11. Honestly this is the kind of design I've been wanting from the 343 Halo games for years and it's crazy to me that Gears has been picking up the mantle more on the campaign front.

Fun kind of got borked around 10 PM though. The servers took an absolute shit when everyone in the US was able to play. I was unable to group up with my cousin at all for any mode, play Versus, Escape, or Horde. Once we gave up and I tried to go back to single-player, I was hit by infinite loading that I was only able to avoid by switching my Xbox into Offline mode. I don't understand why it was impacting single-player, but regardless it really sucked that another game was hit by server melting problems on launch. You'd think they would have it locked down with this being the first big MS exclusive multiplayer game in a long time.

ICYMBI, Forza Rewards seem to be no longer a weekly thing. I just tried to get my weekly rewards, and it says I have no rewards available right now. I read the about Forza Rewards dialog and now it says rewards are given out monthly.

 
I haven't checked in on this thread for a while. Has Microsoft discontinued weekly sales for the Xbox 360? I'm not too heartbroken if that's true but I checked and they don't have anything on sale this week.
 
Feel like I'm missing out on gears 5 but want to try out the ghost recon beta and work on that backlog before the other few releases I want day one this fall come out. I played a ton of 2 and 3 but never got 4. I forget what I was playing on but the final boss in 3 kept killing me so I just gave up and never went back.

Just a heads up off topic but Disney movie rewards is having a wicked good sale right now if you use it and have points. Wouldn't be surprised if most, if not all, of it is on Disney+ so may not be that worth it.

For the Rockstar cans, you need 5 can codes + a Walmart code (obtained on your receipt by buying any Rockstar can) + a Circle K code (promo not yet live). For the cookie, I think you need 4, but I haven't done that one.

He's got Gears streams to watch and Forzathon challenges to cheese his say through. No time for that old ass console that's only for people who can't be always online.

They usually go up at midnight UTC Friday morning (8pm Eastern Thursday), but I saw they weren't up last night. They sometimes have trouble, and I thought maybe MS was diverting resources to try to get Gears 5 somewhat stable.

I had checked a few times as the week went on and he still had last week's post up. As posted, he didn't include the 360 deals, though there's nothing there that hasn't been on sale before, and many at better prices.

I haven't finished Gears 4 so I will have to pass on Gears 5 for now.

In the meantime,Titans is back with Season 2. Episode 1 premiered today.

 
Xbox Live being down prime time is not cool. Why do we pay for services that are down more often than they are online again? I want a refund for game pass ultimate at this point...

Seriously, Microsoft needs to do a better job with keeping their service online. Services being down should be an exception not the rule.

It's almost like more or less giving away Gears of 5 and doing a free to play weekend for Madden 20 on the start of the NFL weekend might crush the soul out of your servers. Seriously 5.0 though service has been kind of odd the last couple months or so as far as up time. I probably only notice because of how well it usually is. 

 
I am to the point I am done with XBox if they can't keep their services stable. Totally unacceptable.

While I will give you that this is the second time it's happened in the last week or so, I can't even remember the last time before that. Overall I have a much better experience with XBL over PSN.

Anyways. I have been a huge XBox fan, but all of these outages lately changes my mind about XBox.

I am done if they can't maintain stable services.

 
How often does Amazon go down? That is what we should expect from Xbox Live in my opinion.

Once or twice a year for a few minutes tops.

How are they seriously going to the cloud this next iteration with such sub par performance of late?

I just tried signing in to XBox Live and fail. Totally unacceptable. Why do I pay for a service that is down when I want to use it?

Lol. I am just not happy with how poorly XBox is performing online of late. I used to have a lot of confidence In Microsoft in the past. Of late I am very disappointed. It is hard for me to accept considering all the time and money I have put into this service. I will jump ship if things continue this way.

 
Sorry if I am whining. I am just getting tired of the constant outages for a service we are all paying for.  I would be fine with an occasional outage here and there that is resolved within minutes. We should never accept outages for several hours multiple times a year. That is totally unacceptable for a paid online service.

I should have bought that physical ;) How far are you? I'm not saying I'm great at games, I've beaten all the Dark Souls humblebrag, but man I was kind of surprised on the difficulty in some parts of this....
