Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

So handjobs. Horrible handjobs with it's horrible little clamps...

...

I'll take eight.

I'm fine with there being no more Kinect games in development, but I wouldn't mind seeing continued support for the existing Kinect games.
I don't know. On this generation sure, but unless they just keep the USB adapter format to hook a Kinect to Scarlett I really hope they don't waste resources on a dead accessory that the majority of their consumers do not care about. I get that some people that DID support the system at launch like it, but it's just so pointless now. If they're going to go for a gimmick the only one that makes some sense at this point is VR. A big game like Half-Life: Alyx could move the needle more but I feel like even that won't have that effect with only a year before the console is out.

I would not think that this is related to the X or the game per se, it's most likely a HD issue. I really wish that the X came with an SSD. There are a few things that could cause a variance between spinning hard drives. Slower read and write speeds could be caused by the drive being filled to capacity, 80-90 percent for example. The X HD may need to have it's cache reset from the systems settings. Maybe there is a bad sector in the HD. And it could be just a different branded HD or batches if they are from the same company.

Again I really wished the X1X came with an SSD or at least a Hybrid Drive like the older Xbox Elite. Nowadays I stick with USB3 external drives and SSD's as they are way faster than the aging internal Sata 2 connection.
We are both playing off identical externals now, but I even tried it off the internal drive with no difference whatsoever. She always loads first. Also, the X does have Sata III while the S just has Sata II.

Ah, you are right, it looks like they upgraded to Sata 3 on the S and X models. I still believe the speed difference is just down to variances in HD hardware. Nowadays both my X's run my primary games off of a 500GB External SSD. Definitely recommend that to boost the loading issues. I mainly game on PC, also on SSD, and when going back to spinning disks, the load times were unbearable. It seems that Sony is going SSD next gen so I hope that MS is following suit. Can't recall if they mentioned that.

Has anyone played Destiny 2 off an SSD? The load times are ridiculous, and I don’t know if an SSD would help since it’s a “live” game. With how much I play D2, if an SSD helps, I’ll buy one today...

I Just ordered a Samsung 500GB SSD today off Amazon Warehouse for $47 after tax. It sounded like it was only a damaged box so fingers crossed and I guess I'll be seeing how different load times will be.

It helps tremendously. I typically load in faster than anyone else on my team (except for my one fucker of a friend that also has a USB SSD) so I can go about my merry way killing the first wave of whatever aliens that want my bullets in their face. And especially at that ONE SPOT in Insight Terminus where everyone gets stuck on a loading screen, I have at most a few seconds of a hiccup and then I trot off merrily while my fireteam is stuck in time.

CAVEAT EMPTOR - Sometimes you don't load into an activity until everyone in your fireteam does (some strikes mostly, possibly all Nightfalls) so you might be staring at a black screen for a little bit while your friends' potatoes warm up.

PS - Even if you have an Xbox One X with a USB SSD, you're still going to have the horrible stutter in certain parts of your character's inventory (inspecting armor / weapons, emotes, etc.). They need to fix that ASAP.

Could you tell Bethesda that's how it is supposed to be? My girlfriend and I played Fallout 4 side by side a year and a half ago, going to the same locations at the same time, and she ALWAYS loaded faster on her S than I did on my X. Same thing with Fallout 76, I'll fast travel to a location first, she follows a second or two later, yet she loads in 5+ seconds faster than me without fail every time. She always loads into the game before I do too.
We are both playing off identical externals now, but I even tried it off the internal drive with no difference whatsoever. She always loads first. Also, the X does have Sata III while the S just has Sata II.
So at first I was like "WTF?" But then I remembered that 4K assets (higher texture resolution, polycount, other improved visual effects, etc.) would take longer to load. Try doing the same test on a non-enhanced title and see what happens.

OMG Yes! An SSD will drastically improve the loading times for Destiny 2! That game is the sole reason why I bought SSD's for my X's in the first place. The missus and I play on Xbox every so often, but I main PC. Cross-save really changed the game for us. Destiny on my PC was already on SSD, and when I loaded up D2 again on Xbox, it was damn slow to get to the character select screen, loading into the Tower, etc. So I bought a Samsung SSD and stuck it into an external enclosure for the missus and BAM, loading times were drastically reduced. So much so that when were co-oping on my second X, she was loaded into the game/tower/strikes, while I was staring at the loading screen for ages. Finally I bought a second external SSD from Western Digital and we are now on the same page when playing together.

Highly recommended.

All-Stars isn't emulation, it's a port running native in a new engine, but you aren't the first to say the physics for jumping etc is slightly off from the original hardware. I don't think it's better or worse, but it's a tad different, esp. in the original SMB.
Especially SMB1, even as a kid I knew something was wrong just seconds into playing it. 2 and 3 are barely even noticeable though, 2 might even run better.

Tell me a good segment to measure for load time and I'll do it. I only have the free version. I bought it for Anthem and I noticed a drastic improvement. I would always be first to spawn when before I was 3-4.

About Fallout loading time, I believe that was a game that got updated textures. It would be loading slower due to accessing more data.

I know it's not very cagish but got rdr2 and watchdogs 2 to complete the punch card. Had lots of credit so I didn't mind spending a few extra dollars. Also have been wanting to play both for awhile now. Now to disappear for months.

Edit..does anyone else buy games sometimes because they are set in their geographical area? I find myself interested more if they are based in the Bay Area sometimes. That's weird right?
Not necessarily limited to games, but any piece of media set in the PNW generally will grab my attention.

I may be one of the few people who still has a Kinect hooked up to an X but I'm fine with no Kinect support on Scarlett. Just let it die in this generation.

I'm fine with there being no more Kinect games in development, but I wouldn't mind seeing continued support for the existing Kinect games.
Agreed - one of my wife's favorite games this generation is Disney Fantasia. I wish there were just a FEW more songs released for that before they gave up completely.

On chapter 4 of A Plague Tale and so far I'm really loving it. Grabbed it from Amazon for $30.

Regarding Fallout 76 it might help to change the output on the X to 1080 instead of 4k if you really want to compare running the same game on the different hardware, as I assume that would prevent the loading of the 4k assets. I heard some people recommend that drastic option to reduce the number of crashes on the X during the explosion heavy Halloween event they had. And yes I realize that does eliminate most of the point of running an enhanced title on the more advanced system.

Also on another point it is Bethesda so it's probably not the best reference for running the most optimized code to take full advantage of more advanced hardware.

Something that excites about the next generation of Xbox console is that it might be powerful enough to run more games at 60 FPS (assuming the game allows it). I would gladly sacrifice (some) resolution for a higher frame rate.

You folks making me real curious about mixing an SSD into my mix but not sure how I would want to do it. I have my X coming back, nothing wrong, and I have a 4TB external. Mostly play single player but do grab those live games too. Anybody want to help with suggestions?

So knowing that next year I'll be definitely upgrading to PS5, I somehow convinced myself that this year I should upgrade the S to an X. Best Buy made it an easier choice with the doorbuster yesterday with all the added promos. GPU has just honestly pulled me more and more towards wanting to use Xbox instead of paying for games on PS4. This is the first time where I'm divided on platform of preference and TBH, it sucks lol.

How does adding XBL to GPU work BTW, if at all? The BB deal came with 3 months free, on top of the 1 month pack-in so now I'm wondering if I'll have to sell the codes. . . :whistle2:k

3 months of XBL should give you 2 months of GPU when you redeem it.

Microsoft would probably have to go out of their way to block Kinect from working on the Scarlett since it should be backwards compatible with anything from XB1. As long as you got the USB adapter before they stopped making it of course. ;)

So Kotaku just reported Battleborn will be unplayable by 2021. Anyone want to take the next year to 100% before selling to Gamestop for 35 cents?

I received a message through my Xbox for a $5 gift card and 15,000 VC because I played the NBA 2K20 free days event. It has to be redeemed by 12/15/19. Hope others get it too.
I’m not sure if there’s anything really sticking out to me. While I’m not big on GTA, it being only $10 for a nice big open world is tempting.

Sweet god this is Black Friday for digital consumers? Tired of digital consumers getting the short end of the stick on Black Friday. This is coming from the company that wanted all digital gaming.

I have an SSD as the internal drive of my PS4 Pro and I always beat every other member of my fire team when we land on a planet. :)

Happy to see some Shantae DLC on sale, might pick up the friends pack. Gonna try later on the Xbox to see if it might count toward the BF $40 thing (though I don’t know if I’ll end up spending that much but it’s worth a shot).

How’s everyone doing in the 10k/10 days thing? I beat my first 500 through half of Old Man’s Journey (probably gonna finish at some point), Minit (great fun, might go back for more achievements with a guide now that I beat it once by myself), and 2 from Bloodstained - I love a lot of MetroidVania style games but for some reason core Castelvania games have never really done it for me, so I don’t know if I’ll go back to it but it’s an option. Any other good, easy suggestions?

Is there any way to check how you received MS points? When I went into the xbox app on Friday I had around 860, went in today and had almost 1700. Dont know how.

I'm pretty sure dlc doesn't count towards the $40

The only thing you can check is how many points you received from a purchase aka "Shop and Earn History". Did you buy anything or complete any quest?

Woo getting my rewards accounts un-suspended list a 105 day streak but looks like it’s in time so I should be able to keep my 24 or so week weekly quest going thankfully. Bad news I’m losing my second account that I saved points up on the send the 5000 monthly points to my “family” they said it was suspended because the accounts were all in my name. Too nervous right now to make a new account in my wife’s names

Sweet, I've been waiting for Prison Architect DLC to go on sale since it has 400 points of achievements attached to it. The Full DLC is on sale for $7.99 but if you just want the DLC with achievements, 'Escape Mode' is on sale for $4.49

For those with 6-Series TCL Tvs or newer, the IPQ calibration app should be out now. I haven't messed around with it because I already calibrated mine with RBG lenses and I like were it's at, but I'll probably test it out soon.

I have to reboot my Xbox one X because it lags once it’s been going for a few days, it’s a weak system but the consoles are 7 years old next year so I’m ready for a hardware upgrade. Yes I know the X is not 7 years old, but it’s still weak compared to where PC is at now. I feel like the Kinect really screwed Xbox this gen so I’m ready for a system that is designed without that gimmick in mind. I’ll probably be in day one for the Scarlett as long as it launches with a game I want to play.
Same. If it launches with Halo it's an instant buy.
We are both playing off identical externals now, but I even tried it off the internal drive with no difference whatsoever. She always loads first. Also, the X does have Sata III while the S just has Sata II.
I posted a dozen pages back that I was having issues with long load times and crashes. I finally got fed up and did a factory reset with the option that DOES NOT delete your games or apps. This fixed ALL the lag and loading problems on my X

I needed a break from marathoning Outer Worlds and have been using the Game Pass quest as an excuse to play other things. Also played Minit and Old Man's Journey, and today I fired up Super Hot (slept on it hard). If you haven't played it already, it's excellent and will rack up some points, although it's not a quick one to do a full 1000. Counts towards the ID@Xbox achievements too.
