GS FAQ

How many copies of a game can I trade in?
You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of the same game (same system) within a rolling 30 day period.

What do I need to trade in an older console?
The console, power cable, av cable, and controller. Sometimes they don't care about USB charge cable but ymmv. 3DS XL trade would be console, charger, and stylus. Some have reported being charged a refurb fee for missing the stylus, but again ymmv (answer stolen from anarchyburger)

FAQ will be entered when those questions get asked frequently.

Does the Pro Membership B2G1 coupon apply to only games, or accessories as well?
The coupon applies to both games and accessories, per the wording on the coupon.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free. Typically refers to the coupon you receive when becoming Pro.
GCU/BB: Gamer’s Club Unlocked, Best Buy
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

I may be a bit harsh on the game because I compare it with LiS1. It has some good moments and does do a better job at showing another side of people (Hispanic American culture), it just falls short on several topics and pacing. It's as if every episode was written by a different political radical.

I did finish it and was satisfied with the ending I got though. Assuming you can make it to the end, you should have a decent time with both main characters.
Thanks man! Hopefully I don’t run into those pacing issues. I didn’t like BtS as much because i didn’t have any stakes, and thought it’s pacing was bad but that’s again just coz I knew what was going to happen to Chloe and Rachel in the end. Mechanically it was good just no stakes. Thanks for the feedback on LIs2! Crossing my fingers

There is a good YouTube review of the complete season and not just episode 1 that goes into detail about the issues with those best of the year list from sites that only reviewed the first episode.

Despite having good reviews for the first episode, only 20% of people even completed the game based on the trophy / achievements. Looking at just episode 1, only 50% of people completed that.

Not that it makes the game bad, but compared to LiS1, it fell short for a lot of people despite those reviews of episode 1.

Also not making anything up. If you look up reviews for the game, they reviewed the game only when episode 1 was out. Barely any of them updated their reviews to include every episode. You can look up the play count for those who finished the game as well. The numbers and dates don't lie.

I didn't hate the politics in the game either, I didn't like how they went about it though. Everyone is either a radical or an agreesive stereotype for a social issue. They touch on those topics but don't delve into them. It's one thing to bring up a social issue but the importance of that topic is lost when it's never touched upon other than "this thing is bad". It's lazy.

Spoilers below but this video goes into great detail the issues many people had with the game after episode 2.
Like I said all the sites I saw it on their best of the year list talked about the whole game and not the first episode. All the reviews of the game I've read talked about the whole game. I don't get my reviews and info from youtube (those "everything that wrong's with" videos are terrible) so we might be looking at different things.

Some of you who preordered in store and now the store is closed, how did you get an email, I haven’t received anything, I’m about to sue the heck out of GameStop.

Easier said then done considering I’m an essential worker.
Doesn’t mean your entitled to do non-essential shopping...the quarantine will just last even longer with that mindset.

Essential work, gas, pharmacy, and groceries (straight to and straight home) are really the only places healthy people should consider leaving the house for.

As an aside, isn’t NYC the epicenter of the us pandemic...”pfft...is he a nutcase?” (gold star for anyone who gets the reference)

And I don't get my info from best of list. I actually played the game and bought it full price when every episode was released. Didn't watch or read a single review until I finished the game and was questioning why it was highly reviewed given the fact that barely anyone finished the game (based on the in game numbers that show the percentage of completion of every episode).

Good way to dismiss the facts of dates reviews were published (before episode 2 was released) and player count for finishing even the first episode.

Not that I'm saying you can't enjoy the game though. I'm glad you did, but to others, I wouldn't spend that much on it in retrospect after finishing the game.

It’s not about the non essential shopping it’s that if I’m already outside for 12 hours a day for work I do come across many Gamestop stores since I don’t work in 1 particular location in the city.

None. None are open.

fucking. Stay. Home.
As someone who has stayed home, get bent.
The world isn't going to end because he spent a few minutes picking up a game (at curbside no less).

I live in Nassau, I think all GameStops are closed at least all the ones in the metropolitan area. IDK about upstate
Same. Shit sucks, as I was unable to spend my March PUR cert or pick up my paid off Doom Eternal.

I am so excited that "get bent" finally made an appearance in this thread!

Don't forget that physical activity is allowed under the quarantine as well. Everybody loves playing walking simulators these days so you can play a REAL WALKING SIMULATOR at your local park, trail, or forest. And you don't even need VR!

For added fun, any other people you see are goombas - don't let them get close to you or they'll shrink you. No one likes shrinkage.

No, I just tested it out on a Nintendo Joy-Con charger an it worked.
Oh ok. The odd thing is I have one even though my pro membership ended 3/30.

Edit..well shit. When I enter the code in it says it's not valid. It should start with EBC right? And under promo code?

I got my first "PUR PERKS - PUR Members - Receive $5 Rewards Cash" with my purchase Persona 5 Royal.  I see the code in my "Active Offers."

Question: can this be used in conjunction with an online-only "GameStop.com Reward Certificate" (e.g., I would likely use that Persona $5 PUR Perk together with the $50 online coupon)?

I've read the fine print on both coupons but couldn't come to a conclusion.  I've yet to redeem my points for the $50 coupon; hence the question.

Thank you!

Edit: huh, while browsing around I noticed the certificates for pre-owned games are gone.  Don't plan on using my points for those but curious what that's about.

Come on brother, fellow NYer here. How many of our city have to die for you to understand how important it is?

This may be old news, but happy to report that I was able to use my monthly $5 cert and also my $10 cert for buying Persona 5 Royal on an online order.  I just ordered preowned games, didn't try any accessories or hardware.  Looks like it took the $10 off the highest priced game and then $5 off one of the other 2 games that were the same lower price.

Just thought I would share my experience.

I hope that you did not buy it yet, it will be on sale tomorrow.
Nope was trying it out ahead of time lol.

My 7 year old dropped his switch in the toilet and now it won't recognize the joy cons when attached. So he has to play on TV or sit the tablet on his lap or use the kickstand. Luckily we have a toilet that uses less water. Gonna buy the enhanced controller so other kids can play with him on TV.

For some odd reason it only works when you copy and paste the code from the Active offers, into the promo code section. Typing it in did not work for a lot of other people.

I just tried to redeem my points (desktop version) for a $10 PUR online cert and it gave me an error. In the app they removed all PUR certs except for donating money and renew Pro.

on the website? how did you get that to work?
On the website. I went to my account and copied the reward code/number and added it to the promo code on the cart and then did them in separate orders, but I had to use my credit card instead of my gift card but it didn't charge obviously.

I was also able to use my Animal Crossing $10 for $10 worth of eShop! Now to find something to burn my $5 on... Wish I could use it toward eshop credit too
