  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
    On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold. Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

What is this?
Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :
  1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
  2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
  3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2026. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
  4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
  5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.
The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

Does anyone here play Far Cry 5? How do I just play arcade mode? I beat the campaign 100% and now want to play arcade. Every time I go to arcade, it says I have to connect my UBI soft account so I do and it takes me to ubisoft connect and all I can do is see challenges, rewards and stats and leaderboards. I can't actually play arcade mode. HELP!!! Playing on Series X. I can go into the arcade editor but I don't want to make my own levels. I want to play other peoples.

I was actually thinking that maybe MS is buying Sega. There were rumors they were in talks about it a while back. Sega would boost MS' Japan offerings night and day and we've seen how close the two have become with plenty of Sega games moving over to Xbox and launching on GP. Plus the new rumors of Nagoshi being in talks with Netease just makes me wonder. Sure that could be due to his removal from the Sega board and maybe everything else is a coincidence but I could also totally see it

Don't forget Sega has been a major partner for a long time. They were one of the big supporters of GFWL.

 
I noticed that Greenberg Tweet had a big grin emoji at the end of it. Thought that was pretty odd. Not sure if he was giving us a wink that he’s lying out his ass. Sega buyout confirmed.

Didn't that Nagoshi Netease news also report that Netease was looking to buy a Japanese developer as well to better compete with Tencent? I Always feel Square Enix just because their Western releases always seem to eat at their profits that a company like Microsoft can swoop in.

I need a source to put together a two minute "IT in the News" presentation for a business class. I was hoping to find something xbox or game related since it is a topic I enjoy. 

I was thinking something about the business model of GamePass or how it is impacting the game industry but I mostly get a bunch of "comming to gamepass articles" from my web searches.

Anyway, if anyone has stumbled on legitimate gaming business news that highlights current info & tech happenings, I would be most appreciative for a share.

I probably should have tried harder for that last achievement I needed.

There is a physical edition for Switch and PS4, for those that are interested.

Some BestBuy stores still have it in stock.

Interesting… it looks like Netflix pulled it from all store fronts to move it to its Netflix Gaming service eventually.

It seems that way. Someone mentioned they started pulling the DLC from Dead by Daylight, but I'm still seeing it on Xbox. Might still be under license contract.

Edit: Ah, I see, it's leaving Nov 17th.

It was previously given away for free via Epic Games and Twitch Prime/Gaming, so at least some PC users will still have access to it without having paid for it.

Also, and maybe it was posted in this thread and I forgot, but the Dutch(?) Netflix Twitter account said they were trying out the gaming service by allowing subscribers to play Stranger Things 3 for free on mobile devices. Or something like that.

Ah damn I was going to purchase it because I run out of time to finish stranger things 3. I would assume that dark crystal would be relisted in mid September then.

I wonder if they'll add XIII-2 and Lightning Returns to GamePass eventually. If anyone tries XIII and doesn't like the flow, maybe check out the sequels. I think they're way better and the combat system gets to breath a lot more.
 
There's a MS Rewards new punch card up for State of Decay 2 worth (up to) 1500 points:

  • Activate the punch card.
  • Earn any new achievement:  Lily, We're Home or You're So Fine You Blow My Mind (500 points).
  • Rent a movie:  Resident Evil, Pacific Rim, Overlord, or Live Die Repear:  Edge of Tomorrow (500 points)
  • Claim points once everything else is done  (500 points).
If this is like the previous punch card for SoD2, people had trouble completing the achievement punch on the card by trying to complete one of the listed achievements.  I, like a few others, was able to complete that punch by getting some other random achievement in the game.

I got a random achievement for surveying from a billboard, and it filled that requirement in this new punch card.
 
I have Netflix but I also have a Series X, Switch and have a PS5 coming soon and I can’t picture a scenario why I’d want to play a game over Netflix with input lag when I can just play on a console or bring a switch if traveling. I get it for the small amount of people that don’t have an Xbox One/PS4 or newer, and maybe that’s more common in other countries but I feel like even non-gamers houses I go to have at least a PS4, Xbox One or a Switch. I don’t really like the idea of pulling a game from other store fronts to make it “exclusive”. Glad Microsoft didn’t do that with all of the Bethesda games.

I know everyone says game streaming is the future, but I’m still an unconvinced old man. My kids all just prefer to play Roblox on iPad instead of the consoles anyways.

I just don't see streaming ever really catching on without drastic changes to the ISP's that have a monopoly in various regions. With bandwidth caps, and how unreliable even big ISP's networks can be because they don't have to put money into their own infrastructure when they have zero real competition, streaming is horrible. I've tried Xcloud streaming on tablets and phones and the experience has been abysmal. But I live in a region with Comcast that has no competition other than 1mbit DSL which is not going to be usable for streaming either. And I live in a decent sized city, how many people in rural areas are going to be able to stream video games with their even worse internet?

I've tried Xcloud streaming on tablets and phones and the experience has been abysmal. But I live in a region with Comcast that has no competition other than 1mbit DSL which is not going to be usable for streaming either. And I live in a decent sized city, how many people in rural areas are going to be able to stream video games with their even worse internet?

I live in a very rural area and have two competing giga bit fiber providers, one local one regional. Guess after all this time of nothing here, I'm pretty lucky now.

It's pretty clear what Phil Spencer meant when he said he saw Google / Amazon as their biggest competitors now. No other company has the resources to invest in streaming to make it worthwhile, or the existing business relationships with publishers to have enough content to justify it. It's hard to imagine Netflix's venture being anything more than Stadia 2.0 but worse.

I don't know. There are ways Netflix could take off. What if they threw it in with their regular subscription for 1-2 years, with maybe a $2 increase in subscription fees? Buy in would be big, possibly big enough to start making money at that point.

I Think the problem that at least I have in terms of Netflix is that for the amount of features for the price, Netflix is definitely more on the pricey side. Getting me to want to pay more for any more of their services besides what their regular standard cost with HD is (and hoping they don't do a random price increase) makes me just nope without even having to take another look if they're planning to charge for this.

I think a lot of Netflix subscribers would be upset by a price increase to fund the gaming division if it’s not an optional upgrade.

Anyway, just popping in to say that Shang-Chi is fantastic and I highly recommend it, and I also posted in the MCU discussion thread in the "off topic" area if anyone wants to have an in-depth back and forth discussion about it.

 
Netflix gaming is currently focused only on the mobile market. I don't recall anything about game streaming. Roblox on ipad will probably be a target market. Although hopefully without the carrot-on-a-stick of Roblox where it's build stuff for free.

Glad to hear about Shang Chi, debating catching Sunday afternoon showing before CM Punk's return to the ring. Or I'm coloring my hair blue. Yes, that's a very strange either/or with movie/hair.

Beyond Eyes is going to be delisted due to disageeements with the developer and publisher. No discount on Xbox tho or delisting date yet.

Its last sale ended on August 31st so that probably was the delisting sale, except no one, not even the creator who tweeted about the delisting, mentioned it until after the sale.
