Black Friday VG deals spreadsheet megathread

CAG Newbie
It's that time of year again, friends.

The 2021 spreadsheet can be found here.

Will update this post as Black Friday ads start coming out. Post if you see any, and let me know if you'd like to be an editor!

General note: If you see a game you want at a price you like, but it's the wrong platform, search that store's website for the platform you want. Often they'll mark a game down to the same price on all platforms, but only advertise one.

Updates:

Update #6 - 11/19/21: Best Buy added! Big thanks to Blueweltall for all his help adding in everything from BB!

Update #5 - 11/17/21: Individual console pages added (thanks for the Google Sheets tip, Confucius)! Go-live times added!

Update #4 - 11/14/21: Target added!

Update #3 - 11/12/21: Wal-Mart added!

Update #2 - 11/11/21: Currently the only BF ad available is Meijer. Added!

Update #1 - 11/06/21: BTW, the spreadsheet is currently empty. No BF ads have leaked yet. We'll be on the lookout!

Loved Ys celceta. Hope you enjoy it. Just ignore the map completion if you value your sanity.

Thanks. I played it up until Frieda joins back on the Vita and liked it then, but I recently upgraded my PC and saw that it supports 4k/120fps-- I've been dying for a high framerate action RPG and couldn't resist.

I didnt get anything but a ps+ sub. I did get nioh collection and dmc at Wal-Mart clearance before black Friday which all I need at the moment. Lets be honest you guys just added your buys to your back logs which wont be playing any time soon. Anyways after experiencing walmart clearance makes me wanna wait for those for now on.

Also got the GOTG steelbook. I wasn't even expecting to get it because of all the reports of people not getting it, so that was a nice bonus!

My haul:

SWITCH

Paper Mario: Origami King $27

PS5

Back 4 Blood $25

Guardians of the Galaxy $25

Resident Evil: Village $20

Star Wars - Jedi: Fallen Order $15

3 month Game Pass Ultimate cards - $25 x 2

I was only going to buy a game or two, so I spent more than planned! LOL I've had a PS5 since March, and these were the first actual physical games for it, Now to hunt down a Series X.

*NOTE* I didn't get the steel books for GotG or RE:V, but I found a Back 4 Blood steel book on the shelf at Best Buy for $10, so I picked one up. Also, missed out on Nier, or I would have grabbed that one too. Now, what to play first? I'm honestly still having fun with Metroid Dread.

Stuff like this is why I try to avoid using gift cards for BF sales or for anything that I think I might return or might get cancelled. At Target, for example, I always buy stuff online or for store pickup with my Red Card. If I have gift cards, they get used in store on household items or groceries - stuff I never have to worry about returning.
Normally I'm pretty good about doing the same thing, and TBH I haven't dealt in gift cards from them since probably last BF so I was careless. I underestimated that physical stores can still be incompetent and took the risk on what I thought would be done deals, no hassle. Pretty much shame on me because I knew better.

Anyway, my haul from BF was almost nothing. Had an extremely hard time finding anything and most were just gifts on sale for peeps. I did get a Daystrike Camo controller for $49 that I so don't need. . .but did need. Also got in on that GameStop promo for 20% off Funko's as I discovered more crap I don't need, such as the 7 or so bounty hunter panorama they're slowly releasing. Still have too much credit with them, so at least it's getting used up lol. Got a couple 4k movies for cheap. . .yeah, zero video games this year. I guess 3 months of Game Pass counts? Otherwise, that was it.

Complete joke this year TBH.

I work in the tech industry and deal with supply chain issues daily. The thing is, with the economy, market, shipping, inventory, and logistical issues, why would companies discount things that are already hard to get and in limited supply? In the past, there was a glut of items as things were massively overproduced. Today many things such as phones, cars, and kitchen appliances are weeks or many months delayed.

Just received my $30 GOTG Cosmic Deluxe from Walmart and can confirm I did in fact receive the extra Walmart exclusive steel book.

Some but not obviously all of those things are in short supply. Namely video game consoles, gpu right now. And it varies by location.

My GOTG Cosmic was supposed to come Monday but shipped via FedEx. Hope it arrives this week ^^;

Sure. Disc production has been massively consolidated but I don't think it's entirely fair to suggest that is the sole reason for fewer sales/discounts for the games themselves.

As far as physical media is concerned, there has been a noticeable uptick in prices for movie blurays/uhd as well. Nothing too significant but definitely far fewer sales and on a much smaller catalog. It does seem physical media is slowly becoming a more niche product, at least one that can command a little higher price. Makes sense since those who often want discs are older folks with (presumably) more disposable income.

Also, publishers have become much more saavy now with printing on demand so as to minimize excess inventory.

I used to enjoy wide sales in the $10-15 range for titles this year, but it was more in the $20-30 range tnis year, and I think that's where the market is going to keep it going forward. Oh well - guess the usual maxim of everything costing more is now applying to physical media, too. Yay.

Not withstanding the 2k plus I spent on retro games, my haul from current gen stuff was:

Switch:

Akiba's Trip 10th Anniversary - $30

Neo TWEWY - $15

Crash Bandicoot 4 - $20

Hotwheels Challenge Accepted Version - $25

Maneater - $20

Ys IX Monstrum Nox - $40

Dying Light - $35

PS4:

Nier Replicant - $15

Dying Light Anniversary Edition - $15

GOTG Deluxe Edition - $30

Watch Dogs Legion - $14

Apparently I reached Elite status at Best Buy lol. The only shopping I did there was over the last few weeks. The no minimum free shipping might sweeten a few deals.

Are u guys able to see your rewards/cert through the app? Mine just endlessly loads. Also when I try to go to browser, it wont let me log in and instead asks me to reset my password then after resetting the password I’m still unable to log in lol

Got my copy of Miles Morales Ultimate Edition (PS5) from Walmart today.  Came in a pretty flimsy package but no damage, so that's good.

Slightly jealous of you folks who got Nier Replicant for $15. I just settled for $30. All I bought at WM this year was one bluray. Easily the least I've ever spent there during BF.

The only thing I ended up getting over BF/CM was a super cheap copy of Cyberpunk 2077 for :xb1: in anticipation of its Series X update coming out...sometime next year...

Same. The NEO TWEWY and Nier Replicant $15 deals were my biggest misses. Astral Chain as well because I thought it would last longer but I was too slow to pounce.

I got Neo TWEWY and Nier Replicant canceled, but I am pretty sure we can find them at retail for $20 or less in a few months.

I have the same hope regarding Nier. Was disappointed I missed that one. I even asked before BF if Square was slow to lower their game prices because FFVII and Nier seemed kind of high for games that had been out for a year+. No mention of it being $14.99 at Walmart and they didn't have anything else I was interested in so I completely skipped/ignored them. By the time I saw everyone here talking about it it was too late (Not available at any store within blah blah blah). Best Buy doesn't price match during Black Friday sales and the lowest it was anywhere else it was available was $29.99.

Then Walmart had it for $25.82 and I was going to try to price match at Best Buy but my power went out while I was on chat with customer service. I did get a refund on Avengers because Amazon put it on sale for $9.99 and Best Buy refunded the difference but I didn't get to ask about Nier before the power went out. It was back up in price when I went to check again. Must have got a little FOMO because I started wondering if I should just pay $29.99 for it.

I usually wait for $20, too, but I sort of want to try it, and it looked like we'll still be waiting a little while longer. That said, I am planning on keeping it sealed to see if it drops.

I took advantage of the Dollar General 15% off deal, got a GameStop card, and then used my power up rewards (including renewal bonus) to stock up on Steam gift cards to put towards my Steam Deck.  Wish I had jumped on the buy $100, get $10 off deal, as well, but I'll take a net 30% return on investment.

It's a no-win situation because they'd much rather have 100 items for a dollar than one item for $100. It might be a net zero difference to them in money, but that's 99 less customers which is terrible for business. Fact is, I'm shopping far less and ultimately saving a ton of money for it.

I am more scoping out deals on games, but buying little else in terms of consumer stuff. My fortunate ability to work from home means I'm spending less on eating out, car repairs, clothing, etc. More games budget, more savings, and less overall spending.

It's great, IMO.

Sucks I missed out on GameStop b2g1 on new games but GameStop kind of saved the day with b2g1 pre owned. Also missed out on GOTG cosmic ps5 $35 at Walmart. I’m very surprised and pleased for once with GameStop since almost all of my orders came complete some even in mint condition except for Spyro ps4 which I exchanged instore.

I’d have to say GameStop won for me this year just because of the b2g1 with almost no limitations. With target there were a lot of stuff not eligible and not instock in stores for pm. I don’t think it was a weak Black Friday but I guess people think that since prices went ups but due to next gen prices.

One of my local walmarts pulled some slick shit...I ordered the anniversary controller for pickup during BF and it was canceled several times, the stock showed 6 available. I checked the store and none were there during the sale. I walked in there today and magically 6 of them are in the case. Eff you walmart stocker/manager/whoever that didn't want me to a get a controller on sale!  :bomb:

it's walmart. they probably had no idea where the hell they put them. I went to a store that had 12+ projectors and they had no idea where the hell they were. I think they finally found them a month or so later as inventory started to go down

:xb1: GotG Cosmic arrived and only 4 days late via FedEx. Like others, extra steelbook included.
My gotg is stuck in Tracy CA which means it could be here in a day or in 3 weeks.

How is FedEx ground so incompetent.

Jeff Bezos might be a big dickhead but Amazon sure does things right.

Som offers from Target's app:

10% off Target gift cards in-store and online, up to $500. 12/4-12/5, cards must be made on a single order

$15 bonus rewards after making 2 purchases of $65+, ends 12/16. Excludes shipped purchases, not sure if you can use it on the gift card purchase,

Tomorrow's deal of the day is buy one, get one 15% off on video game gift cards. Xbox, PS, and Switch are shown, but these have traditionally included Steam as well.
