Has anyone's PS5 Console Cover from PS Direct shipped yet? The site says it should be here on release date, which is tomorrow, and mine still has not shipped.

I got 10 Platinums.  The switch to PS5 worked well for me.  I just stopped playing all the games on the PS4 and focused on playing one game at a time of the PS5.

Avengers 305 hrs

Immortals 98 hrs

Control 97 hrs

Scarlet Nexus 96 hrs

R&C:RA 67 hrs

Went to redeem the avatars and had to prove I was a human by doing this mouse/cheese maze thing 20 times in a row.  Then it told me I failed and I have to do it again.  Then I had to enter my 2FA code.

Greater security than they have at Fort Knox.

Mine also said 35/37 for PS+ games. Could have sworn I redeemed them all, but maybe I already owned a couple?
Went back and looked at the list from 2021. I think we both redeemed Days Gone and Mortal Kombat X from the PS5 PS Plus Collection, that is probably why.

You can redeem a code for an avatar pack at the bottom.

I'm being asked to pick an endless number of mice to sign in and I find i just don't care enough to do that.

Microsoft is for casual gaming dudebros or frugal people who actually know Gamepass exists, Nintendo is the gaming equivalent of Disney, and Sony is for people who desperately want to believe that video games are high art instead of just awesome little time wasters.
When you feel this crabby about video games, its probably a good time to find a new hobby and I mean that seriously.

Noone cares about game awards. Zombie and robot dinosaur games are not high art. Microsoft is making smart business moves but is anyone here really excited about titles like "Call of Duty" anymore? I love the creativity Sony pours into their games, keep weird Sony!
There is very little "weird" about modern Sony 1st party games. Parappa & Jumping Flash were weird. Vib-Ribbon was weird. Whatever third-person action game they are currently pushing is not weird. Hell, half the games are carefully & cynically crafted to appeal to adult guys who now have kids (the new sad dad Kratos, Last of Us, lugging that baby around in Death Stranding). And that kind of emotionally manipulative schlock wins awards and sells systems. Why does no one ever talk about the way these games actually play? Because these games are just movies with some gameplay segments thrown in. The cutscenes and carefully crafted set pieces are the whole point of playing them.

What kind of weird headspace do you have to be to think Sony is going to invest into flagship exclusive games for "award-bait" style points versus trying to create highly acclaimed, widely accessible titles to move systems?

And Microsoft is the gaming equivalent to Disney, regarding business objectives and practices. They now own the largest game franchises (sorry, Candy Crush is bigger than Zelda, folks) and are quickly gaining a large portion of the IP market share.
These cinematic games that insist upon themselves are Sony's niche and exactly what differentiates it from it's competitors. These games also move systems exactly because Microsoft & Nintendo aren't offering anything similar. Dunno how that's a weird head space.

Nintendo is like Disney because it's the ubiquitous fanily-friendly option you plop your kids in front of. Have them watch Finding Nemo, or turn on a 2d sidescroller for them. Take the kids to watch whatever the 59th Marvel movie is in theatres, or sit down & play Mario Kart or Smash together. Stream some Star Wars on Disney+ for your preteen, or buy them a Zelda. Microsoft being the gaming equivalent of Disney is silly. Ask the average gamer family with kids how many Microsoft games they've played together in the past year and you'll hear crickets. Also, the Activision Blizzard deal doesn't go through until next year, and it's still up in the air what will & won't be Xbox exclusive, so any notion that that they have now instantly transformed in a cultural behemoth like Disney is premature. Maybe they will, the masses love junk like CoD and Candy Crush. But no one goes to Halo theme parks with their kids- they go to Disneyland or now maybe Nintendo World.

They shipped my Galactic Purple controller next day air and I got it yesterday. It looks beautiful.

Definitely going to pick up the Purple console covers when they are available.

That color looks great. If I did not go with all black to match everything in my tv stand that is the way I would have gone.

Candy Crush is made by King, which is under Activision-Blizzard, bought by Microsoft.
Microsoft's gaming sector market value is much, much higher than Nintendo's (and Sony's). Just showing that Microsoft is the wider, broader corporation, similar to Disney. Candy Crush, Roblox, Minecraft, etc. style games rule the revenue streams more than traditional "core games" these days is part of my point.
The house of mouse doesn't have power because of Mickey anymore, but because of money. Same with Microsoft. People may like their Kratos or Mario or Link or Gran Turismo Car, but Microsoft has the best mascot. Money.
Minecraft is one thing but I don't think candy crush makes very much money as a free to play casual game people play while in line at the grocery store or waiting for their food.

So tell me something you have played recently that you were impressed by or enjoyed, I'm curious now.
I just finished Shin Megami Tensei V recently & loved it. Currently working through Disco Elysium on PS4 and really digging it. My favorite game of last year was probably Hades.

There are tons of great games being released practically every week.

King makes bank, to the tune of $2B annually. There's a reason Activision-Blizzard bought them. Candy Crush, and related King games on mobile, are highly exploitive loved and people dump loads of money, $1 at a time into them. And Microsoft themselves do love some microtransactions.

I agree, there are tons of great games being released all the time.

I'm trying to marry the comments you made in your previous post and your gaming tastes and I wasn't drawing the conclusion between first party published games and what you were saying I suppose? SMT V is not a Disney choice, Touchstone sure but that's about as close as you could compare it.

I mean, the average Switch owner has no idea what Shin Megami Tensei is. Every system has its oddball. I'm not anti Sony or anything either. The most entertaining local co-op game I've played in years was actually probably that Sackboy Adventure game on PS4. Brilliantly designed little 3D platformer with a gorgeous handcrafted aesthetic. Up there with some of the best 3D platformers of all time. I'd love more games like this on playstation. Actually, all Sony needs to do is announce a new Wipeout, and I'll be off hunting for a PS5. As it stands now, I'm happy just going through my massive backlog or dipping back deeper into retro gaming.

I had 50/37 games redeemed!  Played 5 games for 120 hours, Immortals, Maneater, Hades, Until Dawn, and GOTG in order.  Interesting, it says I got three platinums, but I've only finished two of those.  I think the other one is Astro's Playroom, so that doesn't count as a game apparently.  I also played some of the Knockout City beta, but that doesn't count either.

Played way less than I thought I did lol.  Then again, having two kids and driving almost 200 miles per day to and from work will limit ones game time.

Usually studio accusations are fun and exciting. This pattern of just buying whole publishers is kinda offputting. I don't like how homogeneous and monopolistic things are getting. We need more competition, not less.
Gaming is a huge industry, so it's not surprising even Activition Blizzard only accounts for ~4% even as big as they are. That's ~2% less what MS shares already so I doubt the acquisition would be denied on grounds of monopoly. When Southwestern Bell was broken up it was because it had an 80% stranglehold on communications. That, was a monopoly.

Wrong. The acquisition is to bolster their portfolio of games on Game Pass. 25m subs is a number they want to grow into the hundreds. Free-to-play microtransactions are a small percentage of that take and I would not be shocked to see WoW go free to play on Game Pass. I'd also expect some sort of rate hike in the future, but for now they're still building the install base until they're happy. This is just another power move to get those games exclusively on their platform moving forward.

Hopefully that's miles ON the job, not to it heh. I unsubbed from PS spam so no idea what my hours were last year. Probably said 20 hours of RE Village and 10 hours of Tails of Iron LOL. Game Pass too stronk.

About how long does it take to complete Horizon Zero Dawn and is the platinum easy? Finally playing it from my backlogs of games.
Nothing is missable if you’re wanting platinum, but it’s not short. Here are the estimates from HowLongToBeat.com.

I got the platinum years ago, but how long to beat.com says main story alone takes 22hrs to beat. There is a lot to do in between so to get the platinum might be around 40hrs. And the frozen wilds post game expansion was at least another 8hrs. But I enjoyed all of it, both gameplay and story.

Nice! What color did you get?
Black

I have the digital edition console so I figure its gonna look pretty clean with the change. Got two black Dualsense controllers too. All I am missing is a black charger lol. Sony will probably do that next.

I watched a vid earlier on YouTube, and the red plates look really fucking good tbh.

Nice. That's going to look real nice. I'm tempted by the purple, but the black is probably safer.

Good stuff. I'm going to pick up the red plates when they come back into stock. I didn't realize they were coming out so soon.

On another note. I finally started playing the $15 copy of Skyrim I bought like 5 years ago via it's PS5 upgrade. I know I'm extremely late to the ES party, but I'm actually having a good time with it. This will occupy my gaming time until Horizon 2 comes out.

Moving to Series X as my primary system has really hit my numbers.  In fact, if it wasn't for fall guys, I'd only have put in about 300 hours.  Speaking of which, it is a multiplayer game so how is it I only have 88 hours played online?? lol Also didn't realize rift apart was so short it didn't even make my top 5.  I platinumed every game I played on the system, the other 2 games were Rift Apart and Into the Nexus.

I'm not sure there's anything wrong about his statement

FYI: The season pass for The Evil Within is on sale for the first time since 2018. I picked it up since I only owned the base game. Grab it if you're a true CAG.

Hoo boy indeed.

Even averaging by 365 days that's still 6 hours per day.

A Platinum every 3 and a half days.

I don't know whether to be impressed, sorry for you or call the FBI to report the weirdest sweat shop ever.

Hm if it was 10 or more hours per day then yeah but I’d say that’s not bad
