• You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console. Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work. Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
• Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
  On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold. You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.

What is this?

Game prices in the Xbox store have a UTC end date associated with them. These dates generally fall into 5 categories :

1. The item is currently on sale. These are usually the weekly sale items that end Tuesday mornings at 09:59:59 UTC.
2. The item will go on sale, usually within 2-3 weeks. These are usually set to switch at 23:59:59 UTC, like the weekly sale on Monday evenings. Some of the major annual sales (Spring, Summer, Black Friday, Holiday) start on Thursday evening UTC, and some times appear to be random.
3. The item is on Game Pass and is not currently or going to be on sale in the next few weeks. Third party games generally cluster around 09:59:59 UTC on the 1st and 16th of each month. Currently, at least one game is associated with every 1st and 16th through January 2026. The dates then spread out, ending with Human Fall Flat on July 1, 2028.
4. First party and EA Play titles are farther out, starting in 2049, with many in 2799 and 9998.
5. No date - some items do not have a price and so don't have a date. If the item is part of a bundle that has a price, the date from the bundle is used.

The list below uses the dates associated with games on Game Pass and EA Play. Time stamps in red are the regular Game Pass departure times and titles in red are confirmed to be leaving, either from Microsoft's regular news postings or by devs / publishers. Items available through Game Pass Core, currently on sale or not available for purchase are also color coded.

The date associated with a Game Pass game is not a guarantee it will leave on that date, but since March 2023 when the price data started getting analyzed, every game that's left Game Pass had been flagged as leaving on that date. It's given a number of people an extra heads up on the generally 2 week notice Microsoft provides.

Probably xCloud in UK entirely or MS won't put ABK games in xCloud in the UK.

Kind of sucks that UK gamers may lose out on some of the benefits of the deal just so the CMA can save face.

If MS' past dealings are any indication, buying Activision is not going to result in a resurfacing/renaissance of past catalogs. MS seems phenomenally incompetent at managing studios and IP. This is a company that bought Rare at the height of its popularity and somehow, some way, managed to drag it into the ground - obliterating each/every notable IP it had. Microsoft is the owner/publisher of these studios - as Phil said, the buck stops with him, and he said that perhaps Microsoft is too hands-off and needs to rethink that approach. Micro-managing creative studios (or any entity) is not the right approach, but fair to say some studios probably could use more oversight than others. Spencer/Xbox, however, seem to apply the same hands-off (generally) across all its studios. We'll see how this approach fares, but as one who worked with creatives for many years, I don't think that approach is the right one for meeting deadlines and keeping budgets within reason.

All of that is to say is that hands-off management is still management. And all I'm saying is that thus far, if I were Phil's boss (or a shareholder), there is good reason to question whether that management approach is a competent one.

Lastly, I just want to be clear since some folks here seem to be suggesting I'm anti-MS, or pro-Sony, or whatever. I am console agnostic - I don't care. All I'm saying is that, on balance, M&As are not good for consumers. The larger the M&A, the worse it is for customers. No one is saying companies shouldn't buy out studios, but we should do a doubletake when we're looking at the biggest M&A across any industry ever.

As I said, the one possible solace to take is that Microsoft's $69B move to buy Activision is one of both desperation and commitment. Desperate to stay competitive and also committed to staying in this business - which I agree is good for competition. Microsoft making good games keeps all the players on their toes -- which of course benefits consumers.

However, we (as consumers) shouldn't ever think any of these mergers - whether they're by Sony, MS, or Nintendo -- are designed to benefit us. They result in consolidations, layoffs, and raise the costs while diminishing opportunities for new companies to enter the fray and existing companies to survive. This results in fewer choices for us, less innovation, and usually higher costs.

This merger is likely to set off even more consolidation. No question Sony is going to buyout others as a defensive response. May be Nintendo even jumps in to protect its space.

Because consolidations result in bigger companies, making it much harder for other new companies to enter the industry. It's one of the key reasons why M&As are bad for consumers. Less choice, less competition, and usually higher prices. Hope that helps.

Still have a number of non-BC 360 games to go through.

I haven't had experience with 3rd party. I usually just get cheap used xbox branded controllers but I've seen people on reddit talking about the brook dongle that allows newer controllers on 360. Maybe someone in the thread has experience with that. I would be a big fan of being able to use my series controllers for non BC games.

That's a good deal, and it will change the way you use your Xbox if you don't have an expansion yet . I paid that for a used one a few years ago and don't regret it a bit.

I use the brook adapter for my 360 Hori turbo controller on X1 and Series X. I don't like how it normally controls, but works if you have something that needs turbo. It's had no issues. I've not tried anything else with it.

It's an actual $10 off which is better than the nothing we got for so long. They're still using the pre-drop price for advertising the "savings" most places I've looked so far. I'm holding for 100.

When I worked at a retro store for a while I never had a clone or cheap third party controller that felt right. Most of them are cheaply made so break easily on top of being too light, usually with the buttons feeling wrong.

Voyee I've heard sucks for Switch controllers, haven't heard about their 360 stuff though.

I don't have a recommendation unfortunately. Official or bust aside from the expensive stuff.

I didnt feel like scrolling through a bunch of pages looking for info lol. It's a known issue according to support. Lol I was actually worried for a second they were punishing me for using codes from Grey market sites.

I think most of us that had the issue had GPU that wasn't including the Gold benefits. That did get fixed eventually. Haven't heard anything about just Gold users having issues.
Work arounds for GWG was using the Swiss xbox.com page to claim the game(s)
For the Deals with Gold you could either add it to your cart and the discount would apply (didn't work for me) or gift it to yourself, which would show the sale price.

This is a company that bought Rare at the height of its popularity and somehow, some way, managed to drag it into the ground - obliterating each/every notable IP it had. All we got was a bad PD prequel, a Conkers remake, a cheaply made Battletoads, and a mediocre Banjo game.

You're forgetting the only other thing they've done in the last 10 years, Sea of Thieves. I also think this acquisition is dumb, but only because the studio sucks. So many better studios for a fraction of the cost. SEGA being #1 on that list for me. Take 2, Capcom, Konami or EA would all be better buys.

I would recommend picking up a used 360 bundle with multiple original controllers included (eBay, CL, Offerup, Facebook marketplace). If you're lucky you can score some good games and a backup console, too.

The original controllers were the best of the bunch unfortunately (I bought a bunch of 3rd party controllers back in the day and eventually gave up and wrote the "dpad fix" instructable)

And in a couple years you'll need 3 more. Xbox has stick drift and Sony has absolutely shit batteries and a too small controller.
