You’ve made many good points about why waiting may be prudent.
But when you follow it up with their biggest franchises have had some of the weakest games the past several years (or however you phrased it), that’s factually inaccurate. Whether judging by sales or reviews or whatever. Sure Pokémon is big but so are Zelda and Mario and those releases on the switch were objectively good to great by any metric.
It’s like someone said earlier. You don’t know when to stop. You made some good points. This is not one of them.
Listen, objectively good is an oxymoron and objectively, games like Zelda and Pokemon, suffered from ridiculous poor performance (technically, not sales) that a company the size of Nintendo can fix.
Same with re-releasing older Wii U games at higher price tags. Same with creating literal digital scarcity or with games locked behind subscriptions. Nintendo hasn't been very consumer friendly this generation.
People will want to always look at the latest stuff with rosr tinted glasses, I get it. There are great games on the Switch, which makes the ones with issues stick out.
I guess whether it's a nitpick or a setback is your personal perception. With many folks actively stating they want a Switch 2 to play Switch games with higher fidelity and performance, it would seem I'm correct in that fashion.
Perhaps you're right on not knowing when to quit, because most "fans" make poor critics. Arguing against someone's feelings isnt an argument. I've played Nintendo games all my life and owned every system save the Virtual Boy (literally unplayable for me). I own a Panasonic Q, even. Being a critic is as much a part of the hobby as any other.
Resume irrational exuberance-laced conspicuous consumption.
Edit: There's a Facebook group that actively tracks status of game variations and versions released on carts. Dunno if that Google doc is part of their project, but if you're interested, they're a private group that is fairly active given that it's a small community.
