There’s nothing objective about an argumentum ad populum. OOT isn’t special anymore. It was revelatory in 1998, but as I already explained, games that set the standards for a genre are pretty much never going to age especially gracefully, since games in the genre that come after are going to learn those lessons and build on them. OOT is not a bad game, but it’s just not on par with the 3D Zeldas that have come since without the aid of nostalgia goggles.
Ok, just saying, based on the best type of “objective numbers“ available, it’s like 100 to 1 that are going to disagree with some of your takes. So not disparaging your personal preference in games, but talking about bad takes, probably not the route to go.
Finally someone with a brain that also thinks this. I have more Wii games than N64 games, than Gamecube games, than PS3 games. Only the xbox 360 beats it in terms of great games on a system. Wii truly was a fantastic system but people dismiss it because WAGGLE CONTROLS MAKE MY BONES HURT!!!!!! and all the shovelware it has because everyone was trying to capitalize on its success.
Someone with a brain? It’s fine to like the Wii for what it was, but why do Wii apologists have to be so nasty? And so quick to resort to personal attacks and strawman arguments. Makes bones hurt, whatever. My criticisms of the whole Wii era are not just the system, but the hemlock of greed, market and consumer manipulation and exploitation starting to spread unchecked, with thunderous applause. The basis of a lot of problems we have today, I feel have roots or got exacerbated in this era. Nintendo getting in on pumping stock numbers, stock market speculation, inventory speculation and scalpers, fomo, shovelware, NOAs blue ocean marketing strategy, blocking games like Xenoblade, the one large scale RPG it could have had, otherwise ready for release, for no reason other than to try and show, hey we don’t want dorky gamers, we want normies. And yes, waggle gimmicks did more harm than good for most games. I respect and actually like the attempt, but they made skyward sword worse than it already was. Wind Waker HD, a game that got shat on during its time as kiddy and dumb, has a 9.1 user score on metacritic. Its score has gone up with time. Skyward sword HD a 7.5, it’s already low score to start with, has gone down, even with waggle removed. Why do you think that is? If any remaster quality is better, it’s probably skyward sword, since it’s newer. But it’s source martial is being rated worse. Same with Twilight Princess HD, 8.5. And these are Wii U games, that probably would have been even better remasters on the switch.
