Where is the weekly ad?
They ended the weekly ad for more rotation of deals. Please check the homepage and deal link for the current deals.

I can't find a trade in value for an item?

How many copies of a game can I trade in?
You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of the same game (same system) within a rolling 30 day period.

Are there trade limits?

Can I use the $5 monthly coupon on gift cards?

Yes you can in store but not online please note not all gift cards will apply to this rule.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free.
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

So did a weekly email go out with the code for an extra 20% bump for consoles? I stopped getting emails a few months ago and wasn't sure if I'll get denied with the screenshot of the code.

Also, all that is needed for a Switch Lite trade is the Lite and the plug? And is the 20% bump in addition to the 10% pro or just an extra 10% than the usual for Pro members?
If the code is valid and within date it doesn’t matter it will work

Switch lite needs the system and OEM power adapter

And the additional bump shows up as 30%
20% bump plus the 10% pro

What's needed to trade in a Wii and a Wii U? With the 20% extra, they give $70ish and $90ish. Trying to see if I have everything needed to see if it's worth it.

Thanks! I have no idea where the oem power adapter is for mine. Time to tear apart the junk room I guess. 😆

Jesus they're giving more for a Wii U than an OG Switch. $88 currently. That's pretty depressing.
Supply and demand my friend. No one really needs any model Switch 1 at this point if they have a Switch 2. Gamestop must be flooded with Switch 1 consoles and Switch lite handhelds now.

Do they test Wii systems or just auto defect em out to warehouse etc.. like could I trade in a Wii with "issues" and still get full trade in value ?

I traded two Wii systems two weeks ago and he said they will get sent to the warehouse anyway and he didn’t test them while I was there.

I tried trading in one of those very same Wii’s last fall and they did test it out. I couldn’t trade it because I had forgotten the nunchuck. This time I made sure to bring everything.

Don't see any reason to trade my switch 1 until there's enough games for the 2 I want. Maybe Gamestop will have a good trade in deal in the future like when I got $175 credit for my launch ps4 towards the GOW ps5.

I never knew that. It explains why the guy said they get sent to the warehouse. Wish I had more Wiis to trade in.
I’ve tried two different gamestops and both have told me they couldn’t take them because they had no way of testing them. I have a stack of wiis I’ve found at yard sales and thrift stores over the years and would love to get rid of them.

I don't see why you would trade it in even if you do buy a Switch 2. It's not worth getting rid of an extra set of joycons and a backup console for that low of trade value IMHO.

Does TIC work on Nintendo Online cards? I remember it not working on eshop cards but wasn't sure if it's all cards, including membership now.

Assume the $5 monthly wouldn't work on Nintendo online membership cards as well?

Just another reason Gamestop sucks.

FYI for all you folks: don't ever hit "reset password" or "forgot password" and enter your e-mail. From that point on, the Gamestop will lock your account forever.

Because guess what, the reset email will never arrive. I did a google search for this and went down this rabbit hole on their subreddit. It's been an issue for what looks like months and years. There's a "solution" posted out here to download the app and try to resend the reset link there, but that doesn't work either. And it looks like if you try to call up Customer Service, all they will do is ask you to create a new account, and they'll have to transfer all your points, and you'll lose your entire purchase history, etc.

Gamestop's website was blocking me for some weird reason (I did not use VPN), I think too many refreshes denies you entry or something (but I didn't even do that). I finally got in but it said: unable to login, so I thought my only option was to reset.

I actually came upon this article in Jan 2023, while looking into this issue -- where Gamestop accounts were getting hacked en masse (another instance in 2019, so this happens often), so I can only guess this is Gamestop's solution to stop this was to not even send out reset e-mails to ANYONE.

That doesn't happen to most people. I reset my GS passwords regularly and only one of my accounts has that issue. If you don't want to open a new account, you can still use your coupons and points in-store by providing your phone number.

So the worst part is contact email and login email can be different. If you ever change it, this is generally what messes this whole thing up.

Does GameStop still convert collectors editions after enough time? I was at a local gs earlier and they had a PS5 lords of the fallen ce along with Frost punk 2 and a few others. The Lotf was marked $250 but I don't even see the item on GameStop's website anymore so I assume it got converted if they still do that... Probably should have asked in the store the price but wondering if anyone knows if that's still a thing they do

Store I went into today had two pre owned switch 2 games already, Mario kart and tears of the kingdom. Employee also got a call when I was trading in. Someone asking if they had switch 2 in stock and told them no. He turns to the coworker and says "I'm telling everybody over the phone no, I'm not going to create a frenzy, I'm only going to sell them to people who come in and ask".

So seems like at least that location got a stealth restock and they're lying about it on the phone. Gamestop employees are strange sometimes.

Someone really took a $120 loss trading those back in a day later lol. It makes you wonder what the hell were they even expecting when they bought them.

Gotta just be a crazy uninformed buyer that didn't realize a digital Mario kart came with their switch and Zelda was a $10 upgrade from their switch version (or included with online expansion).

Idk what you mean by "convert/converted" but I had several stores price check for me the Digital Circus Gumigoo plush...it was/is 40 £ucking dollars even when they are nowhere available on the GS website. Don't get your hopes up because I still see Marvel's Avengers Earth's Mightiest Edition PS4 still priced at $149.99 online and in-store. Same store also still have Dead Cell's Prisoner's Edition PS4 for $89.99 even when it is not available on the store website.

They used to like... Convert / combine SKU's so after X amount of time the SKU for a CE would disappear and it would just show up in their system as the base version, so you used to be able to get CE's a bit later but at the cost of the base game used. Like I said no idea if that's still a thing they do though. Might be a dead practice by this point

How was the process for trading in a switch? Do they still need you to keep your account on the system to make sure it can access the eShop?
yes, it makes it much quicker and the store i went to deleted my account in front of me. also, I was not aware but they wanted the charging grips as well as the wrist straps for the joy cons. i ended up buying a gamestop brand charging grip and he let the straps slide (no pun intended).

Yeah I remember that as well. I do not recall the last time they converted ce and stuff to used. I want to say Ai sominium files sp?

they made you buy a charging grip? but it didn’t come with one originally, it was just a plastic grip with no charging feature, so you got taken advantage of, you can look up the box contents of a switch and see for yourself

Surprised it took that long given how it's supposedly out of stock nearly everywhere.
it might have been there a while, i just checked today because i wanted to see what the list is looking like if they actually do a bump and buy 2 get 1 free at the same time. but yeah i see the ps5 version going on ebay for $80 all the time.

The what list?
