How are y'all returning your damaged stuff to Amazon without a printer? I use a monochrome laser printer. I only have to change the toner like once or twice a year and I buy the cheap "recycled" ink. Definitely one of the best investments I've ever made.

Well, there's your problem. You loathe printers until you finally own and operate a cheap black-only laserjet. You said ink carts. Inkjet printers have not been financially viable for decades if ever. They exist for one reason only and that's to screw you out of money, and install reminder spyware on your PC. That's why the cartridges come 10% filled.

Get yourself a cheap black laserjet and it will turn your perspective on its head. You can operate fora couple of years off of one toner refill for as little as $20.

Get a Brother laserjet like Solid Snake Eyes says. you can get one for around ~$100; the cheaper models work fine.
Whatever the random brand printer is i used to get usually around like 20-40 bucks. and the ink on hand lasts for a few years depending on how much I need to print. Since they have 1 color cart and one black. I hate them more for how frustrating they are to get to print. That's been my experience with every printer I've ever used.

Fair enough. I do all the returns myself after I had a bad return experience many years ago with Amazon. I returned an item then MONTHS later amazon double charged me for the item saying they never received it. Had to fight tooth and nail with customer support to finally get it resolved. I don't trust anyone but myself to handle returns since then. I always package the item myself, print my own labels and always get receipts when I drop off items. Depending on the value of the item I sometimes take photos/videos as well for extra insurance. That's just my own personal reasoning though, so to each their own. One bad experience can change a person lol.

That's just common sense really. Always better to have it and not need it.

Pending the Fanatical drop on Thursday, I'm thinking of getting Robocop, Rogue Trader Season Pass, Potionomics, and maybe Elden Ring?

Hey guys! Maybe someone here can help me. I am a big fan of Anthem, it's honestly the only game I really play, but they just said it will be shutting down in January when they shut the servers off, which really sucks. Are there any games like Anthem you would recommend? Since games are like $70 now I try to find a game I can really play a lot.

Don't post much nowadays but thought I'd provide my experience with a few games. Moreso from a solo player view but they all have co-op too. And I think they're all cross play so you can invite friends over regardless of platform.

*Destiny was my addiction for a long time. Certainly had my fun with it and definitely got my money's worth. However, got sick of the ever changing goalposts and immediate nerfs whenever things didn't go according to Bungie's plan. In the end, I was done with having that job, lol.
*Crime Boss Rockay City is another FPS that has some rogue-like mechanics, with missions that are somewhat similar to GTA5 Heists. Goal is to build your criminal empire while fighting other crime bosses and avoiding the law, all during a set timeline. Perks you unlock during a run will carry over to a fresh run when you fail. Biggest draw of the game are all the actors they got on board as npc's. Base game is $2, complete version is $9 on steam
*FBC Firebreak is the most recent release (FPS view). It's still in it's teething stage for progression but the devs are listening and adjusting. There's a good gameplay loop there once you've unlocked perks and upgraded equipment so you can tackle the harder missions; difficulty is getting to that point. If you have a PC gamepass sub, you can try it for free
*HellDivers2 (3rd person view) is pretty solid and has a lot to do. I personally find it to be boring as spit. It's better with friends but even then I found it dull. Unpopular opinion, I know. But I want more skill and pace with my gameplay than what this provides. That's still holding in the $30-40 price range
*Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League has some of the best action shooter gameplay I've ever experience. Also another unpopular opinion, as I know the hate train has been chasing this game since the day it was announced. Unfortunately the good stuff is completely hidden behind poor design decisions. Creating your first build gives you a glimpse of what can be achieved in game (think Diablo builds and their destructive power). But yeah, it's gonna be a dull grind until then; dumb design. At least the seasonal DLC and extra characters are all free. Didn't realize how much I miss pausing a game until I played this, lol. Base game is $3.50, deluxe is $5
*Warframe and First Descendent; both are free to play games. Solid gameplay for both but I quickly bounced once I saw how crafting works. I wil not pay to speed up crafting and won't wait real world hours for crafting to complete. Big fat nope from me.
*The Division and Division 2. Both are really good 3rd person shooters. If I don't play them more it's solely because I prefer sci-fi or supernatural worlds vs something that's more close to the real world environment. I don't think they ever added crossplay to either Division game.

Fair enough, I used to get shoes from Kohls but I can usually find the same thing cheaper on the interwebs.
Yeah that really depends on your shoe size and store for availability. I've gotten a few cheap clearance plus 40% off coupon shoes from them from time to time. But now my current job requires steel toe so I have to order either from shoes for crews, through my work or find stores that carry the specific brand.

God my corporate people are dumb about that particular thing. As anytime they are around they ask me if my shoes are the right ones. I've been with the company as long or longer than most people and they SPECIFICALLY say shoes for crews on them. This is the brand you have us buy and you don't even know your own shit?

Now granted one of my most recent pairs is blue instead of black or white because I paid the extra 4 bucks to get them in a color I like. But yeah sometimes I feel like I know more about the company than these people do.

They said play, not buy.

They should have bought it almost two years ago then. {insert yunowen}

This particular game is still available on some retail sites like indiegala. It's even on sale, too.

Try the Atari 2600 version of Space Invaders, it has 112 game variations. Should keep you busy.
Still fun to play to this day! I have my original cartridge from back in the day inserted in my Atari 7800+ and play it from time to time ;)

Still have my original 2600 console, but it's a pain to connect to modern TVs

It's so sleazy how Steam card drops almost always give you duplicates. I've been idling games with 3 drops in an effort to craft badges, and two of the three cards are always the same card.

It wouldn't be as bad if people responded to my trade offers, but 99% of the time no one responds. So then I have to lose money selling the duplicate and buying a replacement. Valve makes money on both of those transactions. It's a racket.

And aside from those frustrations, it doesn't make sense that crafting badges from cards is the only way to level up your Steam profile, when it seems like most games don't even include Steam cards any more. It feels like they're obsolete, yet the whole profile system depends on them.

I will tell you what is not sleazy though -- all the people buying the trading cards right now. I spent a short time unpacking all the booster packs I've earned and made around $10.00. This system of forcing badge creation is generating booster packs and card sales.

Having said that, I dislike not getting a few free cards for the sale. It's something I have to think was driving people to the discovery queue and it seems like behavior you'd want to encourage.

I think Valve was not a big fan of generating untold amounts of free money for massive card farms. I remember hearing about some TF2 item farmer who had a whole server up running card and crate farming. It was wack and I guess this is one unfortunate way to deal with it.

I think you can level up by using steam points Seasonal Badge ( from buying stuff) to get xp ( also can get xp if someone give you an award). I only bother putting some rare foil card on sale. ( have like 3-4, but sometime the price crash). I sold one foil card for like 5 USD.

I find that foil cards from humble choice games are not worth a lot 😅

Eh, in the last 6-8 months I've made probably $15 or more via selling various cards I've gotten over years. I really need to get the card idler program running.

Well, I made it to level 30 and achieved my goal of unlocking a third showcase on my profile. It's pretty underwhelming, I feel like I don't know why I went to all that trouble and even spent some real money, just for this. At least I spent less than $2 real cash on this whole plan.

I don't think I'll ever craft another badge again, the only real reward would be ten whole levels away, which would just be another disappointing showcase, and I'd never get that far anyway.

I think for my last summer sale purchase I'll get Firewatch. *And Mega Mosaic.

I find some of the features in Steam confusing and I have spent some time trying to understand what is available other than what I mainly use the app for which is to purchase and play games. It took me a little while to understand that the "points" you earn from purchases can be used in the points shop which has all of these things you can purchase to customize your account which is cool I guess. It just seems needlessly complicated for a lot the additional features that are there. Steam is way better than other game stores on the PC. I think Playstation 5 has the best interface for gaming currently. I love how some games on PS5 actually play music when you hover over the game in your library. That is really a nice touch. Every time I hover over God of War III remastered I get to hear that awesome theme from the game that makes me want to play for at least a little while. I am not a big fan of Sony, but they at least have done a great job with the PS5 interface in my opinion.

What kind of loser spends money to level up their Steam account?

*looks at Level 209 Steam account*

Oh...I did. LOL

By the way, if you have Steam points you can spend 1000 on seasonal badges in the Points Shop right now. 1000 points earns you one level of the summer badge, up to Level 40 I believe? And each badge gives you 100EXP for your profile.

That's been a thing since the ps3 gen. Hit or miss for me as some games are obnoxious with that. Catherine/Katherine immediately comes to mind.

As usual I always point out Summer Games Done Quick starts tomorrow and lasts about a week. It's a speed running event and fun to watch and usually supports Doctors Without Borders for their charity. Yeetee also does excellent video game shirts, which also support said charity. I love having it on when I work during the week, and it usually encourages me to play some of my games. There is also a bundle for this event posted in the Humble Forum.
