I'm still at http://www.playthecircus.com at the minute (new game released shortly), but have found a few others worth mentioning, these are EVE )you have to pay to play but its very good) and another one called crush the castle.

Can anyone recommend any decent Wii RPGs/Adventure games? I use the term 'decent' loosely, as it is the Wii we're talking about here

If you're that concerned about the stability of your wife's job why don't you cut your spending, like everyone else said, don't spend on things you don't need and also maybe both of you start looking at applying for more stable, better paid jobs?

Don't really have any practical advice to offer but I would maybe do a bit more research into your chosen area and find out more of the demographics regarding the people that live there. What class are the majority of the population? Do they seem to have a disposable income?! Are they any...
