2010 Winter Olympics
problem with the winter games is there's just far too much clothing
That can be a good thing.

Watching the opening ceremony at the moment, going through all the countries. Pretty excited about the skiing

Not that most will care here, but I thought it sucked Uzbekistan got snubbed in the entrances due to Bob "fucking" Costas focusing solely on USA olympians. I'm proud to be an American and am thankful/blessed to have been born here. However, we have become big headed when it comes to the national spotlight. While serving in the Army I was fortunate to be stationed in Uzbekistan after 9/11 and I think the people deserve more from us. I know an opening ceremony entrance is trivial to most, but it is a time for ones country to be seen on a national level and Uzbekistan rarely has these moments.

They did a great job with the budget of this ceremony when you compare it to something like Beijing. I think he said it was 30-40 million compared to like 150+ million. I hope Apollo Anton Ono medals again. Speedskating, skiing, luge, bobsled are a lot of fun to watch, snowboarding a bit less but still good.
I look forward to the hockey.
Yup. I don't really watch anything else during the Winter Olympics.

I really loved the Projector Setup they had during the opening ceremony. No failures until the very end with the Cauldron.

Also Opera singer with a Fro FTW.

You know if an American or Canadian die and the event is hosted at an Eastern Europe country, they would be call for boycott until the event is safe.

Curling is definitely the shit. Nothing like husky women sweeping ice. Those games actually get pretty tense when you've got national pride on the line.

Holy shit that speedskating was some of the best I've ever seen. So intense it was hard to watch.

Apolo pulled out the Silver and Celko the Bronze! Koreans got what they deserved after pulling the same shit on Apolo last Olympics.

The 5000 was great watching that guy from the Netherlands perform. And that young girl's Gold Medal performance in the freestyle skiing was near perfection. Some of the best Olympics so far.

They modified the track immediately by putting up a wall and significantly shortening the track (moving the starting line down a ways) to reduce speed. Not sure what else can be done without seriously gimping the event?

Yesterday was a good start. I was in shock that the Korean team wiped out like they did in the speed skating because they easily had the sweep. I don't feel as bad since they still got the gold, but they were clearly the better team.

That wipeout was epic. Its one thing to cause a crash and knock another guy out of contention.. its another to do it to someone you are sharing a room with and will be flying home next to.

The announcer had just stopped saying "Korea is going to sweep the event!" the absolute second those doods wiped out.

Apolo is just as good as any of them. It's a lot harder to race against three from 1 team, especially when he was passing the dude and the dude pushed him to stop him from going by on the back stretch of the 2nd to last lap, which is when you need to pass if you're going to win. That was some bullshit. The Koreans have always been dirty racers though, that's why you see shit like what happened last night because the guy was trying to cut off his teammate for the win with no regard for him at all.

I find Apollo Ohno irksome. I was trying to use a simpsons reference to subtly deride his silver medal, which I don't think he "deserves." Please, don't mind me.

I find him to be a genuine person who is real and has a lot of heart. You could say the same thing about what happened to him last Olympics. He was going to get the gold and he was taken out by someone on the last turn. That is short track speedskating for ya. It's how the sport works. He is deserving.

Canada got their first gold medal while hosting the game's tonight. The American's 2-4-6 placing in the Combined was remarkable. Gotta hand it to them for doing the unprecedented.

I take back what I said about Shaun White, he doesn't seem like such a douche after all. I hope he does well, but I'd like to see the other Americans do best. Tonight is going to be top notch with our 4 huge American stars.

The double cork is the sickest move in any half pipe competition. If he can keep sticking that and he will have a chance at gold.

Lindsey Vonn....Holy Shit! I wish i could have 1/8 of her skill. She is ridiculous!

EDIT: NVM i forget about Scottie Lago. That was a sick 360 double cork.

Japanese dude with the faceplant. Ouch!

LOL @ announcers: "White on white is no good." (Referring to the halfpipe and the bright white lights when the riders look up.)
Shaun White... in fucking credible how much air he gets, clearly up on all the competition.
I liked how they overlapped the images and show that he is ~6 feet above the rest of them. I guess having that private half pipe to practice on pays off.
Really enjoying the games so far.
Same. It's interesting how much I like watching events that I would normally never waste my time with (curling, speed skating, luge) on any other time of the year.
Great showing by the USA men's hockey team in a 6-1 win over Norway.
i cant wait for sundays game against canada. even if we lose, depending on how we do should give an idea if we medal or not.
Great effort by the Swiss mens hockey team tonight.
Yeah, that was one hell of a finish. Exciting action all over the place. Hiller was insane in the net tonight.

I either am asleep or at work when Hockey is on. Also, when are the networks gonna get there fucking head out of their asses for what game is shown where...
Russia is on in an hour. Going to try to watch some of that before bed.

Sunday should be awesome.
I did not expect that outcome.

The hockey so far has been great. I am really looking forward to Sunday's USA vs. Canada game, should be an entertaining battle. I didn't stay up and watch all of the Russia vs. Slovakia game last night and was very surprised this morning to see Slovakia won in a SO.

I watched the Figure Skating last night I am ashamed to admit haha. But I will watch almost any events that an American is contending in. I was glad Evan Lysacek won, some of the comments from the Russian guy towards him before the final skate were shitty so I'm glad Evan stuck it to him last night.

Been watching almost all of the coverage they've played on NBC so far. Ice skating is not my first choice but it's great to watch just about any athletic event that puts the worlds best up against each other. Lysacek absolutely nailed it last night and it seemed the Weir scores were low but I know nothing about technical judging points so who knows? Sucked to see Vonn and Bleiler wipe out during their events but it's nice to see that our US team was deep enough to medal in both events anyway.

I'd really love to go to an Olympics (summer or winter) at some point in my life.
