As far as online, the main problem with this game is the programming and especially in league play, lobby servers drop connection from time to time. Online can be a lot of fun as long as you're careful with choosing the right opponents, I recommend you look through their player's card...

I would say yes if you got friends that also play online, if not, you can build a friends list of some good people over at theshowcommunity.com but if you intent to play mostly offline it's probably best to wait until the game price drops even further.
