Looks like they only sell it as a bundle now, Deluxe includes a few multiplayer characters and bunch of weapon skins. If you click into the bundle you should see the base game in there, which shows "Not Sold Separately" for me.

I take one gander at Steam, its incredibly strong brand, and yet only an estimated 3 or 5mil. units of Steam Decks have sold. I don't think there is really that strong of a market for a $650-$900 dedicated handheld device, whose thumbsticks or screen can still break.

I don't really see where this "tapping into the handheld market," is going. besides attempting to offload the Xbox brand onto other manufacturers. Who says continued support is going to be there? These type of projects and endeavors fail 8.5 times outta 10, faster than restaurants. A company needs to have its own dedicated / hybrid handheld. Which...insiders have already said has been cancelled, as no surprise to any of us. Think about this: even if it wasn't cancelled, then the expensive third party hardware would no longer have any reason to exist, once it launches.

I'd be concerned if I owned a huge Xbox library because if Microsoft does continue in this direction then there's a real possibility that people end up losing the ability to play Xbox games natively in the near future unless they stay on Series X forever. They already canceled the actual first party Xbox handheld so there's no guarantee they release another first party console either.

The best estimate I can find for ROG Ally sales is 400k. You might have a better chance of winning the lottery than finding someone in real life who owns one of these.

Repeat after me. Xbox NEEDS the console in order to push Game Pass. There is no Game Pass without the Xbox console so it isn't going anywhere. Selling 30-40 million consoles might not break records but it's nothing to sneeze at. Xbox de-prioritzing their official handheld for now and focusing on their next console is actually a good thing. Similar to how Sony tried to push PSVR and failed. These are very niche markets. They are just gathering telemetry by throwing shit at the wall and see what sticks.

All signs are pointing to Xbox releasing their next gen console before Playstation does. Playstation just released the PS5 Pro so it wouldn't make sense for them to release another console so soon. This month's offering of PS Plus is complete and total trash while Xbox Game Pass got Doom Dark Ages, Oblivion, Expedition 33, etc... people are starting to take notice. The Playstation Reddit forums are filled with people complaining about the quality of games coming to PS Plus vs Game Pass. Releasing the next gen Xbox before Playstation along with Game Pass will make it a very attractive proposition.

Also next year is Xbox's 25th anniversary. I can't see them not having something very special planned out. We're definitely seeing something from Halo, Gears E-Day and Forza Horizon 6 next year along with whatever else special they have planned. The future is bright!

The only reason they sold 30 million this gen was because of the Series S being so cheap and the PS5 being sold out for the first 2 years. Series X is basically doing Wii U/Vita numbers and Xbox has lost a lot more mindshare since its release.

No fear mongering at all. This is the reality of where the Xbox brand stands right now.

We’ll see but agree that they would have to do something for Xbox BC. It would be ironic if they used an emulator solution that would allow us to play even games that aren’t currently BC.
