No I do not believe it will fit the 3ds xl based of of a couple of the reviews on the site.

I just wanted to brag a bit I just checked and amazon changed my order to the launch day edition, I didn't get the e-mail like everyone else though.

For those wondering I got the standard version with prime one day shipping but it is saying January 2, 2014 by 8pm is when I will get it so I am wondering if I am in the 2nd wave or not.
