Cool, thanks dafoomie. I guess I'll just go ahead and buy the kit and try out some dvds. It sounds like most people are satisfied with the xbox player despite a few 'coaster' dvds. I can always return it if things go south.

Well I guess my biggest issue is that I also want a dvd player that can support the digital optical output the logitech speakers allow for. Since the X-box can do that, I just wanted to make sure that it could also do eveything else equally well.
