XBox Bundle Auction & XBox Game Auctions, No Reserve, eBay

10 hours left on the Xbox bundle. No hidden fees in the S&H, so it's still a good deal at this point. Thanks for checking out this thread and my eBay items, and thanks for putting up with the auction whoring.

XBox Bundle Auction & XBox Game Auctions, No Reserve, eBay

3 hrs. left on the games, 1 day left on the Xbox bundle. Normally I don't panic re: eBay auctions, but I'm beginning to worry that the Xbox bundle will go off for a low price. Guess I started/ended the auctions at weird times.

XBox Bundle Auction & XBox Game Auctions, No Reserve, eBay

One day left for the games, two days left for the Xbox bundle. S&H is fair, so bid away.

    weird video game quotes...

Whatever the hell it was Fokker said after the player select in Power Stone 2. I don't speak Japanese, and it's been a long time since I played PS2, so I don't remember exactly what he was saying.

I've created a Monster! My wife won't stop playing Lumines!

This is the truth. It's also a good way to piss off old friends. Visited a friend last year and played some Mario Kart:DD with him. On the sly, I time trialed and slapped most of his personal bests around, then left my big, beautiful initials at the top of his times. When I got back from the...

Paying 'too much' for shipping on ebay

From what I've heard of debaters, I think the above correction is more accurate. Mean, ruthless buggers, those debaters, of which i am not a member of.

Paying 'too much' for shipping on ebay

Everything in S&H should be accounted for by the seller. If something doesn't add up, even if it's a mere $1, the buyer has the right to ask, "WTF?" If you're hard up enough in life that you need an extra $1.45 or whatever off of conveniently leaving out details in eBay auctions, at least have...

Numerical ratings on games are worthless

Well, kinda. This will "even out" for the games on either end of the spectrum, the ones getting either universally praised or panned. But for the in-between games, like stuff between 60-85%, the disparity between the two systems (stars v. grades) makes the "average" GameRankings score for the...

Max amount you're willing to pay for Shipping?

I'll pay whatever the S&H is. But realistic S&H, not the imaginary stuff you see on some import businesses and eBay. I don't like it when people/businesses insist on hiding the real costs of S&H--I just assume that if they're willing to misrepresent S&H costs, there's a good chance they may...

    Best Drunken Gaming

When I was playing Viewtiful Joe a long time ago, I played after a night out and experience this "not knowing what the hell is going on, yet knowing how to play" sensation. The cool part was that I could feel myself physicially slooowwing down during the FX parts. Wicked.

Numerical ratings on games are worthless

I should've qualified my other post. Your example is an excellent example in that it illustrates both the inadequacy of GameRankings and comparisons of stars/grades (as I noted) and it shows the disconnect between reviews and the scores accompanying those reviews (as you note). As for the...

Numerical ratings on games are worthless

This is again a shortcoming of GameRankings. The GameSpy dude gave it 3.5/5 stars. Now, yes, we can all do the math and see that this is 70% of the stars possible. But this comes back to a point that was made above: some people are ranking these games like they're grading elementary school...

Konami Showing the love to 360.

I'm pretty certain that showing one's "love" in public is some kind of felony. Indecent exposure is a punishable hobby. Konami had best watch itself.

Numerical ratings on games are worthless

Yeah, this is exactly the philosophy I apply to games, as well. I know he's not terribly popular for the scores he gives out, but I think Greg Kasavin's reviews (the text, not the number ratings at the end) are pretty critical of the things I look for in games. So if he's done a game I'm...

Numerical ratings on games are worthless

And it's the exact reason that GameRankings isn't as reliable as people make it out to be. If a 9.4 out of 10 is attached to a mostly disappointed review, what's a 94% at GameRankings really tell you about the game? Pretty much nothing. It's better to just find a few reviewers who share...

    Help me decide

I'm not looking to get either, but I've heard that the best thing to do is wait 'til the holidays and hope for some price cuts. Maybe the better deal will help make up your mind for you.

Numerical ratings on games are worthless

More what I had in mind was how you'd read the occasional review that went on about how DD was just "more of the same," how disappointing it was in terms of tracks/gameplay, and how the additional karts/characters were kind of a cop-out, and then you'd see 5 out of 5 stars in every category...

When Did You First Start Using the Internet?

We've chewed some of the same rec.arts dirt. I was one of the people in that newsgroup who was outraged at all the Jean-Luc bashing! Nice one, mate. :)

Numerical ratings on games are worthless

That's why I just read the reviews. If you get into the habit of reading the review first, you'll often find that the numbers/stars assigned don't necessarily make sense. A good example was Mario Kart:DD, which had some of the weirdest disconnects between written reviews and at-a-glance ratings.
